I think too much

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

While working, I randomly take breaks to clear my head. I can only look at code for so long before I begin to go crazy. My main big thing to do when taking these breaks is research for future purchases.

My future purchases include:
– New Cell Phone
– New Desktop
– School Enrollment (5 courses)

Cellphone – In December, my cell phone expires. My father, my sister and I are on the family plan and it’s been two years so the plan is going to be reset. My father won’t be adding my number, and my sisters, back to the plan. I do pay him the monthly fee’s, don’t sit there and think that I’m not worthy of having it under his plan. The problem is with my sister. She runs her phone bills up 300+ each month, just for HER PHONE. Meanwhile, her plan is only supposed to be somewhere in the $20 range, like mine. Because she has abused this, my father is canceling everything all together. I’m not complaining because I’m sick of the telemarketers. So instead of having a monthly plan, I’ve decided to go back to a prepaid phone. Considering I rarely ever, if at all, use the phone. I figure it would be easy to spend $70-$80 on a phone that comes with 60 minutes, and then just put maybe $10 a month on the phone to keep it active. This is the financially sound thing to do, and the exact route that I’m going to take. I’ve been looking at phones everywhere, and oddly enough the one I’m going to go for can be found right through Wal-Mart – isn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t that some shit? It’s $75 for the phone, comes with 60 pre-paid minutes and then within a month – I have to put maybe $10 on the phone. I’m content with this purchase.

Desktop – I know that for the past few months I have felt completely content (and extremely happy) with my laptop. The mobility factor is amazing. I have not, however, realized how many programs I use on a daily basis for designing and what not and now my laptop is beginning to fill up a lot quicker than anticipated. I’m using around 40 gigs of my 80gig hard drive, and I know that doesn’t seem like much but I was using 40 on a 120gb hard drive on my desktop – so you do the math there. I’ve been looking for desktops in places like Tiger Direct, Microcenter, CompUSA and of course HP. No matter which one of these companies I go through, I’ll be sticking with an HP desktop. I do not need anything over the top with bright lights and pretty colors like my last desktop. I just need something with a 120 gig hard drive and enough room to load my old hard drive into it so I can regain access to those files.

Now that I have mastered the art of linking computers on the network, I’ll be using the computer as a file server – mainly – this is why I do not need to be too concerned about the statistics right out of the box. I do know that anything less than a gig of ram is unacceptable because I will begin using the computer for heavy graphics. Over time I fully intend to be up to my ass in learning flash so that I can bring in some more money for business. So if spending $400 on a desktop is the route that I have to take, then so be it.

The reason for this – I’m going back to school. I’ve decided that sometime over the next few months I will be enrolling in new courses through Penn Foster and Stratford. Penn Foster will cover the technical aspects of things. I’ll enroll with them for Web Programming, Web Design and Graphics Design. I’ll then go to Stratford for Business Management and Accounting. My reason behind the Stratford courses is not only for me, but for Joe. He was going to school for Accounting and he was only a few months away from his degree before he passed away so I think this is my way of finishing what he started. Whether he’d appreciate it or not, I don’t know…I’ll never know. But there are cases when someone sets their mind to do something just because it feels right…this is one of those times. It’s my way of honoring him and, in my head, that’s all that matters.

In any event…I need to get back to work. I’m finishing up on a non-profit/Wordpress set of templates and my creative streak has been shot to hell because I’ve been ass-deep in work for a long time now. I can’t wait to finally be able to complete a project in its entirety and not feel bad that it’s taking me so long. I apologize to any client who comes here and reads up on things. I really am trying my best – I’m just balancing 13 clients right now and it hasn’t been easy on me at all. The power issues because of last weeks heat wave didn’t help me much either :grr:

Need help…

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

I have been hit with excessive overdraft fees on my bank account for the last few weeks. I don’t know why, and the bank isn’t really telling me anything. So this is basically my plea post to anyone who will listen. There is nothing in the general area that is hiring, everyone is over-staffed for the summer and won’t be hiring until late August, early September, which does not help me out at all.

My bank account is on hold, I can only deposit money until the $92 worth of over-draft fee’s are taken care of. I’m broker than broke and have bills to pay (Around $250 worth). I’ve been posting on GAF and Craigslist, as well as answering every job listing I can find in order to bring in some money but nothing seems to work. I’m giving you a list break down of every and anything I can do in order to bring in some more clients….in hopes that any of you are interested.

I need to raise approximately $350 in order to gain some stability again.

Oh the heat!

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

An extreme heat wave has hit the tri-state area. Temperatures lingering around the 105°F mark (40.5°C) during the day have had me stuck indoors and very uncomfortable. I’m only blogging right now because I don’t know if I’ll have power for much longer. There was a blackout warning sent out to all hospitals on Long Island (to my knowledge) until 10:30PM this evening. It makes perfect sense though.

Right now it’s around 6:30PM, for the past hour (and next few hours) people will be coming home from work, turning on their air conditioners and overloading power plants in the area. With how unstable LIPA has proven to be for the last few weeks, it’s only natural that something will randomly just blow up and I’ll be left without power.

Down with the sickness…
This doesn’t help me very much though. I haven’t really been feeling well lately. I’m still battling my cold and the heat doesn’t help either, it just makes me feel worse so I’m very easily agitated lately. It also doesn’t help that I have two very bad tooth aches and no real pain-killers to help me out. I take Aleve, because it’s the only thing that works, I’m immune to everything else. I send my sister to the store to pick some up for me and she comes back with Advil. Why? Because it said “toothache” on the box, as though that would actually fucking help me. It’s not a toothache anymore, it’s a full on infection and since I have no insurance, I have to deal with the pain until the nerve finally dies.

Business woe’s….
I’ve been lurking around the ‘net bidding on every possible job I can find. I have a few leads that may work to my advantage, but nothing set in stone as of right now. I got a few emails about the $30 deal, which I have to reply to tonight (I’m aware of the fact that I’m taking a while, again – I haven’t been feeling well). I’m going back to my search for grants, and working on a few ideas for future job ventures that hopefully will work to my advantage.

Wrapping it up…
In any event, I think I’m going to head off. I’m downloading some programs. A few of the leads are company outsource based and they require that I have either Dreamweaver, FrontPage or both. I don’t totally see the point in using this programs since I code everything by hand, but if I have to suck it up and deal with it in order to get the job, then so be it.

I know I’m behind on my comments, I’ll make those up in a little while when my bandwidth is back to the proper speed.

Happy July!

Saturday, July 1st, 2006

As you can probably already tell, there’s a new theme here on k.nu. I change them around once a month so this one will obviously be around until the end of July. Something about how the colors mixed well together gave me enough of an excuse to call it a summer theme. And, this is something I’m happy about. I put a quite a bit of work into it as far as coloring and everything else goes, so I’m happy with it. If you happen to run it through a style sheet, you’ll see that unlike those on the ‘net who swear their ‘elite’ I actually have valid CSS2 code to back it up. Jealous are we? I think so too.

Work related
Work has been kind of slow for the last few days. It’s mainly a wordpress theme here, validation there, nothing major. No big jobs have come in, as of yet. I’ve put in a bid for a few jobs that are in the $3k range, but who knows what will happen there. I spent today putting the final touches on this theme and plugging RSS feeds into Trillian. So now I basically don’t even have to go to websites anymore, I can just read the feed and decide whether or not I want to see the rest of the entry.

Feed me!
Someone brought Feedburner to my attention this week. They saw it on someone’s site and thought I’d be interested. I played around with it a little but no one subscribes to my feeds so it’s really not worth it. I know that Stacey does through her LiveJournal account, but that’s just about it, as far as I know. It’s no big deal though.

Dreams = Money
Mega million drawings are tonight, like every Tuesday and Friday evening. I spent $10 on tickets, nothing too extreme. The pot is up to $12mil. If I would have won on Tuesday, instead of someone in Ohio, it would have been $26mil. It got me to thinking though. At this point, living in NY with $12mil won’t get you very far. Sure, it’ll get you a decent sized house but taxes around here are beyond extreme and it’s just not worth wasting the money. So, I’m thinking about Maine. I’ve seen listings up there where you can get 8 acres of land for like $120k. On Long Island there isn’t 8 acres to spare, and if there is it’d run a couple million…at least. So in my little dream world, since I have nothing else to do. I’ve been thinking about everything I’ve always wanted when it comes to owning my own home.

A huge kitchen with lots of space, an indoor pool because in Maine the highest average for summer temperatures is like 79°, a big master bedroom, a ‘game room’ with pool table, dart board and of course…a bar. I’ve been looking around Google for pictures and what not and I’ve come across some really nice setups that I would absolutely LOVE to have, so I saved them to keep in my ‘dream’ folder in case something like this is actually a reality some day. The house itself wouldn’t have to be huge, I’m not looking for something like that. Everything I want can fit into something that’s like 2000-2500 sqft. Which may seem large, but when you break it down that the whole back end of the house is going to be a pool/jacuzzi and patio area, it really isn’t that large.

Back to reality…
I’m still waiting on Freepay to process my order for the digital camera. They said 7-10 business days so I’m sure by next Wednesday I’ll actually know what’s going on there. I’m excited either way, I can’t wait to go back to taking pictures again. Right now, since my digital doesn’t have a working flash, I’ve had to have pictures either taken outside during the day, or every light on in the room just to make sure it’s bright enough….which is very annoying so the change will be nice.

I thought my aunts trip was going to be longer than it actually is. I’ll only be at her house from Friday the 7th, to Tuesday the 11th. It’s still not too bad though, I get to relax in a nice quiet house for a few days without having to listen to all of the idiots who linger around on my block during the day. I can sit outside in the back yard and soak up the sun. I don’t have to worry about waking up to walk the dog so I can sit back and relax.

Purple isn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t pretty
I’ve been nursing a broken/sprained toe since Tuesday night. We have a block up in front of Dad’s door to keep the dog out of there. A baby gate you can call it (even though it’s just a folding chair). I went in his room on Tuesday night to turn his AC on so that when he got back from Atlantic City he wasn’t walking into a sauna. On my way out the door, I hooked my pinkie toe on the chair and I felt it pop. The chair itself then dropped on my foot in the process. Right now it’s a gorgeous shade of purple and walking is just not something I’m happy about.

When I walk the dog in the morning, I usually just slip on the mules and head down stairs. The mistake I’ve made is when you’re wearing shoes that are slip-ons, you tend to grip with your toes to keep them on. I realized this after I was waddling half way down the stairs the following morning. Bella, as usual, wanted to take off and run but I couldn’t bounce like that, so she damn near hung her self because she took off like a shot while I was still taking my time getting down stairs. Needless to say, I’ve had everyone else walking the dog just so I don’t have to deal with the pain. I’m sure my foot will heal up at some point, but right now I just wish the pain would go away.

OMG…seriously?
I’ve cut back on smoking, quite a bit. I used to go to about a pack a day (20 cigs) and now I’m down to 5. Considering how much I smoke, this is a HUGE deal. It’s my goal to completely quit by the end of July. It’s not going to be pretty but I really just don’t want to smoke anymore. Quitting cold turkey is impossible for me, I’ve tried it before. I’ve found that the method that works is cutting back one cig each day. So, by the time July 20th rolls around, I should be good on just one cig a day. Then I’ll break it down to one cig every other day, and so on and so forth until they’re completely gone. This will mean an extra $30 in my pocket every week to use on more important things. Like…I don’t know….strippers and prostitutes lol.

In any event, I’m going to head off. I’m going to have my last cig for the day, curl up in bed and watch some TV.

Hiatus = OVER!

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

So I finally have my laptop back. It’s so much easier to get things done now. I’m not stuck in the living room, I don’t have to listen to the dog running up and down the hall, and I don’t have to listen to the little bastard spawn of Satan in the end apartment bouncing off the walls.

I almost didn’t have this tonight though. The FedEx shipping information told me that the estimated arrival time would be 3pm. So, I figured I could sleep in a little bit and wake up at 9 instead of 7. Well…that was my mistake. FedEx showed up at 8:30 this morning, left the note on my door and scuttled off. The ticket said that I could pick it up after 6:15 from the FedEx facility in Hicksville, so I talked my sister into a little 20 minute road trip and now I’m home with my baby :pets:

Everything is running smoothly. HP updated the BIOS for me as well so I thought that was nice of them. I was surprised to see that I still had 100% battery life considering it hasn’t been plugged in for 6 days. Then again, I took it right off the charger and popped the battery out before I put it into the box so I guess that had something to do with it. The only thing I’m having trouble with is getting used to the keyboard again. My wrist is cramping up but I think that’s just based on the fact that I haven’t really typed in a few days.

I have about 10 proposals to go through and another three to write up. I need to get back to a few clients about things because it’s been a few days since they’ve heard from me. I DID email them letting them know that I was going to be MIA so that should all be taken care of now. I’m writing up one for a big job and it should bring in an easy $2500 so that will be more than enough for me to get a new desktop and definitely a new printer. I want to get an all-in-one that’s connected through the router so that everyone’s computers can finally have a printer instead of them using mine. I figure I can just throw it in the living room and hook it up directly through that line, and then everything else is wireless.

My sister wants a computer, and I told her that with the way business is going that as a birthday gift to her I’ll go 50/50 on one. She doesn’t care what it is as long as she can sit comfortably in bed and still be able to watch TV so I can either get her a desktop with wireless setup or I’m just going to get her a cheap laptop. She insists on a DVD burner though. She’ll never be able to tap into any resources to burn movies, and doesn’t know enough about computers in order to even find said resources so that one is an ‘iffy’ if she wants one that bad she can get an external one and hook it up herself.

In any event, I have some work to do and need a quick cig in order to get me back into concentration mode. I’ve started to return comments but haven’t gotten around to everyone. I will soon though, I promise.

Yippie!

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Since everyone else is asleep I figured it would be a good time to pop online and check my email. Based on the one I received from HP, my laptop is on it’s way back to me! Thankfully, by this afternoon, I’ll be back into the swing of things.

I can finally get some work done. I have a lot of proposals to look through, a couple to write up and a few hosting accounts to setup that I couldn’t do from this computer. It’s hard to setup reseller accounts when you don’t have access to the right programs. I like to see proposals building up, it’s a good feeling knowing that I’ve got a heap of work coming my way.

It’s my goal in a few months to get a new desktop. I’m not going to go crazy on the modifications because it would really only be used as a back up. So I have no intent of getting anything more than a gig of ram, fairly new processor, 80gig hard drive and only a 128mb video card. I can get a system like that for under $500 so I’m definitely not complaining. Hell, I was even considering an E-Machine just for kicks, but I won’t stoop to that level, I’ll stick to HP/Compaq.

I’m still waiting for FreePay to process my digital camera form. It’s been two weeks so I’m to a point now of just being annoyed by it. I’m going to give it until Friday and then if nothing changes I’m going to email them and ask what the hold-up is about. After talking to Jackie (the only REAL photographer in the personal site world, not the point-n-shoot cam shit that everyone does) I’m going to get the Olympus, it’s more like an SLR which is exactly what I was looking for, the stats on it are also a lot better than I’d originally thought. It’s the 8 mega pixel, the Fuji is the 9 mega pixel but considering the bulk of the images will never be larger than 1024×768 – I really don’t think there’s going to be a difference. So I’m certainly anticipating this one. I know that Alicia wanted professional looking engagement images so hopefully this cam gets here before they get married in November 2007, yea…that’s just how long FreePay seems to take these days heh.

In any event, it’s about 1am and I know that I need to be up in 7 hours so I’m going to head off and get some sleep. I guess the ‘hiatus’ message just wasn’t needed at all, I honestly didn’t think I’d have any time out here where I’m not dealing with the rest of the family breathing down my neck. I’m definitely on hiatus from WORK but thankfully that will change after FedEx gets here tomorrow afternoon – yay!

Night all.

Busy Bee

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

I’ve been waiting very patiently for Freepay to process my approval form for the Digital Camera, my status (as of Friday) has been updated to “We’re currently processing your form” but considering it’s been a few days that something would change. It’s my hope that I’ll know what’s going on by Friday, so that’s all that matters.

I’m still 8 people away from my $1800 offer. I’m hoping those referrals start to pick up again soon. I’m sure I could just cash out at the $1050 but I’d prefer to hold out for the $1800 so I can put that towards some much needed bathroom repairs. I’m to a point now of being beyond annoyed with having to use dad’s bathroom to take a shower and I would LOVE to have my bath tub back. So if you’re at all interested in helping someone regain their private bathroom, then please sign up and complete an offer. The AOL one is free, clears in 3 days and you can cancel on day 4, no money charged and you get to poke around AOL for a month. You don’t even have to download the program, just create a screen name (that you get to keep as an AIM name anyway).

I’m slowly getting around to writing up my Mobile Meme for this week, I just haven’t had the chance to sit outside yet. It’s been kind of hazy today so I’m waiting for the sun to come back out before I sit myself down under a tree. I have to add the link for it to my navigation I just haven’t felt like booting up my FTP program yet. I’ll get to it later though, I’m sure I’ll be bored enough to do some kind of site work later on anyway. So far there are two entries for Mobile Meme, that’s certainly something to be happy about. I’d like to see some more posters though, so if you’re at all interested please head over to krissy.nu/mobile and check it out…k?

It’s 6.6.06 today and there are a lot of news stations up in arms about it. It’s a damn superstition for crying out loud. I don’t believe in superstitions, I’ve stepped on, laid down on and jump roped onto every crack I could find and my mothers back isn’t broken. The Omen opened in theaters today, that’s certainly a movie I’m uninterested in seeing. It looks stupid as hell. I was totally amused by the little kid in the clip they showed on TV though. The mother is just hanging there saying “Help me, help me” and the little twerp just looks up and waves “bye bye”. I laughed my ass off. Thriller/Horror movies have always had that effect on me.

I’m going to plug Euphoric because things are slowing down there because of the regular posters having finals and what not. So if you’re interested in joining a semi-new board with plenty of interesting topics, please sign up for Euphoric and meet some new interesting people while you’re at it.

In any event, I have a pile of paperwork sitting next to me that’s about a mile high so I’m going to get back to work. I’m sure I’ll have my Mobile Meme posted by Wednesday so check back for that.

Relaxing

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

So it’s been a good day. I got paid this morning so all birthday gifts are covered. I picked up some more work so that’s another $800 coming to me with in the next couple of weeks, which is also cool.

It’s been storming all day and I’m absolutely loving every minute of it. I spent quite a bit of time outside after I was done with work, soaking up the humidity. It’s brutal outside but all of the rain makes it more than worth it. It’s supposed to be raining all weekend, which I’m happy about because with all of the heat lately the little bit of grass I have is beyond dead. The water will definitely do it good.

According to my recent status update on the digital camera offer, they’re processing my approval form. So, hopefully sometime over the next couple of days I’ll be able to cash out on my camera. That beautiful Fuji film E-900 9 Mega pixel camera will be mine all mine!

I’m relaxing in the living room right now. I’m finally getting ready to pack up and leave all computer stuff in my room. I was able to spend the bulk of yesterday enjoying my TV time. I had a lot more of it today because no one was home. I didn’t totally get to enjoy it though. The phone was ringing off the hook all damn day.

See, my mother (before she remarried) put herself into quite a bit of debt so we get bill collectors up the wazoo calling for her. It’s usually a recorded message too so you can’t say “Stop calling, she doesn’t live here.” I finally searched on Google and found the phone number for this particular company and told them to stop calling here because she no longer lives here. I thinks she’s under the impression that since she no longer has the same last name that she’s unable to be found. I made it a point to give them her new phone number and last name because it’s to a point now of being complete and total fucking bull shit. My phone shouldn’t have to ring off the hook because she spends more than she makes. She can deal with that at her own damn house now. :humph:

In any event, I’m going to head off and watch my full night of “That 70’s Show” on FX. It keeps me giddy and quite entertained even though I’ve seen the episodes quite a few times already. My sister is bitching that there are two dishes in the sink and she wants to give Bella a bath. I think I’ll just shift and get even more comfortable because I cleaned the kitchen today, the dishes in the sink aren’t mine. I’m entitled to ignore her…no matter how crazy the thought of dishes in the sink is going to drive me.

I’m going to say “melting” is the only literal statement as to how I feel right now. It’s been so hot for the last few days that my whole body is rejecting the heat. My back is bothering me because I can’t sleep in a comfortable position, my leg is acting up for some strange reason because of my bad circulation in my left leg and I’m so close to shaving my head it’s unreal.

I live in a brick building so anyone who knows anything about heat, you’d know that brick usually absorbs sun light and slowly lets it go all night long. In the winter it’s nice because it warms up the house so the heating bill isn’t that high. The problem is it does the same thing in the summer so when it’s 85° outside it’s more or less 90°-95° in the house. When my sister got home from work last night, I had her put my AC in. I was able to sleep comfortably for the first time in a few days. The damage to my back was already done though – I’m sure it will cool down over time.

I’m having a really hard time cracking my back the way I used to. Twisting doesn’t seem to do it anymore. I used to just be able to sit down, twist to the left than the right, and pop everything. Now I’m lucky to get a little pop out of it. Joe used to really do some good there. He would bear hug me, pick me up and shake quick and it would pop everything I needed it to pop. Since that hasn’t been done in over 3 months you can imagine how tense I am.

Digitalcameras.freepay.com
I’m still waiting for the camera site to process my approval form. They said it would take up to four weeks. If my status hasn’t changed by June 1st, I’ll send in another approval form. This time I’ll put tracking information with it so I can assure that they get it. It took me a long time to get all of those referrals together, and now it’s taken even longer for them to approve it. The changes Freepay has made to their network really suck though. I still don’t understand the point in sending them an approval form via snailmail, only to have them process everything on the internet anyway. Computer based is usually much easier, and faster for that matter. I’m sure I’ll actually get it, I just hope it doesn’t take much longer than it already has.

Moving around
I’m outside right now enjoying a semi-cool breeze and a cig. I felt cramped sitting in my room. The point of mobility is to actually move around. I spent the bulk of yesterday moving over the last bits and pieces from my desktop. All of my fonts, adobe/jasc brushes and other items that were important to have with me. I’m refusing to use Outlook for the time being because I’m unable to network it properly. I know it can be done, I just haven’t figured it out yet. The network itself is up and running though. I can easily access the two other computers in the house so it’s easier to move files around. The one thing I keep forgetting to do is get the Limewire download link from my desktop. I’ve been using Limewire pro for quite some time so using anything else is really annoying.

Graphics Block
I’m in the process of working on a WordPress template for someone and I’m having a really shitty experience with it. In my head – the image is absolutely perfect. Trying to draw it out in Adobe is a completely different story. I’m sure I’ll actually get it done but for now it’s proving to be the most annoying thing in the world.

Looking for work
I’ve decided to find myself a part time job off the ‘net. I’m only bringing in about 15k a year and since I’d like to have a car and be moved out of here before 2007, I’m going to have to step it up a notch. It’s my goal to have about 10k saved up before the end of the year and the only way to do that would be to work in an environment where I have a constant flow of having something to do. The ‘net is great, but retail is looking much better right now. I don’t think I’d ever go back to CVS but I’m consideyring Eckerd or FYE. It absolutely has to be something local.

Alicia suggested that I send my resume in to the security company where she’s currently working. It’s $9 an hour and she says it’s a fairly easy job. I’m considering it, but I just have no way of getting to Oyster Bay every day. I know that if her and I worked the same hours she wouldn’t mind bringing me, but the days that she couldn’t would mean waking up my father. This is why I absolutely have to get my own car, so that’s why I need the money. I don’t know, I’m sure I’ll work something out over time.

In any event. I’m going to finish my cig then go lay down in my room. It’s much cooler in there than it is anywhere else and that’s just where I’d like to be right now.

Laptop city man!

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

I’ve been working my ass off all week. I was paid by that client, and I ordered my laptop this morning. It’s kind of funny, I’ve been waiting to have all the money together and when I finally do – I just let it sit there for a day while I thought about it.

So I logged into HP.com configured my laptop for the very last time and went through with the check out. After all of the thinking I did, I decided to go for the 15.4″ model. I know that I wanted the 17″ and part of me still does, but financially I’d prefer the 15.4″, a few years down the road I can always get myself a new laptop. For now, however, this one is exactly what I need it to be.

DV5000z
– Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition with SP2
– AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-34 (1.8GHz/1MB L2 Cache)
– FREE Upgrade to 15.4″ WXGA BrightView Widescreen!!
– 128MB ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory(TM)
– 1.0GB DDR SDRAM (2x512MB)
– 80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
– DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
– 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
– 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
– Microsoft(R) Works/Money
—————————————————–
Total: $1161.19

I know it doesn’t seem like much but I got a good deal on it and its also built like my desktop (only a little bit better). I totally love ♥ coupon codes too! So I’m very, very content and extremely antsy because I can’t wait to get it! The estimated ship date is May 25th, and since there’s a 5-7 business day shipping on it, I’m expecting to receive it sometime around June 1st, at the latest.

Patio Excitement
I ordered my new patio table from K-Mart, it only cost me like $50 which is fine with me considering the size. It’s about the same size as the table I have outside right now and I came up with a wonderful idea that suits my needs, and my wallet.

I’m keeping the current table I have, and then just putting this new one next to it. It’ll be like having one HUGE table and it will make working outside a lot easier. I’m almost positive I’ll have at least one child near me on a daily basis during the summer, so this way they aren’t sitting right on top of me. I’m just going to put a cover on each table and vwallah! I’m going to Wal-Mart on Friday with Alicia and Dave to pick up a few other needed items.

I’m going to get 6 chairs, a bench, and two shades. The chairs will obviously go around the table; the bench will be put off into the corner with a coffee table. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Jen?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s and she wanted to throw it out but I’m going to recycle it considering its holding up well to outdoor use thus far. In a few weeks I’ll get some planters and then all is right with the world. My patio will be complete; I’ll be surrounded by flowers and loads of color, not to mention comfort. I really, really can’t wait!

I usually jump the gun and then things never happen. Knowing damn well that it’s all happening now, that’s just a damn good thing.

In any event, I have to get back to work. Now that I’m done with the corporate account, I have to get my ass in gear with the personal/misc. based accounts. It’s mainly graphics, a few word press templates, but other than that it evens out to about $300 that’s going to go towards the BBQ this summer (Yes Christie, I said it – the BBQ is ON!).

Later all!

Woah!

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

My eyes are bothering the hell out of me today. I’ve been sitting here since 9am, with maybe 2-3 breaks, putting all of my effort into this account. I’d like to get it done as soon as possible because unfortunately I was stupid and like quadruple-booked myself. Once I’ve finished with this client I have another four to work on.

I know, “boo hoo for you, you have to work” but seriously, it’s ALL PHP, ALL DAY LONG. I’m to a point now where I’m seeing if-then statements when I close my eyes. It’s like…slot machines. “IF…THEN…FALSE”. Then when it’s like “IF…THEN….TRUE” bells go off?¢‚Ǩ¬¶SERIOUSLY!

Yea…I haven’t slept very much in the last few days, can’t you tell?

Last night was worth it though. The big storm that was SUPPOSED to come through here came through with FULL FORCE. At 3:30 this morning, I was hanging my head out the window watching the lightening shoot off like fireworks. If my camera wasn’t such a piece of shit with battery life at the moment, I would have probably snapped some ‘live-action’ shots. Don’t mind me…I love storms. I always have for some reason. Bella hid under the bed for an hour while it was rumbling outside, then she popped her head out when everything died down a bit. She spent the rest of the night sleeping under my pillows…I guess she felt safe there…who knows.

The fog right now is so thick you can slice it with a knife, which is weird considering its fairly breezy outside. I personally never thought that was possible. I thought fog was dense air due to lack of wind?¢‚Ǩ¬¶so this is all confusing to me. I’m also an idiot so who knows?

In any event, it’s almost 1:30 and I have another two hours to put in before I can get some sleep. I would pull an all nighter but my ass fell asleep hours ago so now I’m just uncomfortable…heh.

Migraine Central

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

I’ve been in a very bad mood for the last couple of days; I’m not quite sure as to why. I woke up yesterday with the biggest migraine in the world, and I was so sensitive to light and sound that even Bella walking behind me was too much to deal with. It progressively got worse as the day went by. Living on the main road, all I listen to are cars and big trucks. Sure, the windows were cracked and I could have just closed them but at the same time, however, even with closed windows you can hear all the street noise. It wouldn’t have made much of a difference either way.

School/PC Shit
I’m putting money aside for school; I still owe them like $350 so I’m going to make it a point to pay that off in one lump sum. I’ll have to dip into my savings account for it, but if it means getting my degree sooner, I guess that’s all that matters. It won’t affect my laptop fund though; I do fully intend to purchase that next week when the $1500 has cleared to my bank account. If I have to hold off on my school pay off for two weeks, so be it. I’ve been waiting three years to order my laptop, and you better believe that I will. For now I’ll just continue to pay it monthly until I have one lump sum to pay them to complete the course, I’m absolutely fine with this, at least I’m still actually paying for it.

Digital Camera
Fuji FinePix E900 I sent in the account approval forms for my digital camera on Monday. I got some freakish test-email today so I’m watching my account closely to make sure that things actually completely go through. I’m anxious about it. So far, none of the referrals have changed and I’m still at 10/10 so I’m going to assume that everything is full speed ahead (for the time being at least). They’ve changed their gifts around. Originally I was going to get the Olympus SP-350 which is 8megapixels. They have the Fuji FinePix E900 with better zoom and stats in general, so I’m going to get that one instead. It has a smaller storage card, the Olympus gives you a 25mb the Fuji gives you a 16mb. It really doesn’t matter though; I can purchase a 1GB Fuji card later on for like $25-$30, so there really is no loss there at all. I’m excited about it, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Patio Woe’s continued…
So my sister and I did some more driving around the other night and of course I found the perfect set at the super market right down the street. I didn’t have to travel all over Long Island no, no, no. I just had to go down the road with the intent of picking up some freaking milk! It was my intent to get it this week, and then I decided to wait it out a bit. I’d rather keep the money aside in case any extra fee’s come up then after I’ve ordered my laptop – whatever money I have left will go to the patio. This will go towards the flowers, the table and the outdoor carpet (because the deck has really soft wood that dents easily). My total budget is $200, which I think is very reasonable considering I don’t even have to update the porch at all. For now, I’ll just throw one of the two table cloths I got off eBay on the table outside and that’ll take care of that.

I already informed the two other tenants that there would be some remodeling done on the porch this summer, one was opposed to it but fuck her I’ve got tenure. My grand parents own the building and I’ve lived here for 18 years. If I want to throw a hanging plant out there, oh fucking well for them. I let them both know that children were not to be anywhere near any pots I put out there, and I let the one in the middle know that if there is one ash or cigarette burn on the new table I’d throw her over the ledge. Both of them leave their shit all over the deck, it’s time for spring clean out, damn it.

My headache is coming back now. For some reason the pressure like changed in the room and now my ears are clogged up. I wish it would just start fucking raining already so the weather would stop being so damn annoying.

I’ll return comments later, when I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m in a better mood.

You’re shittng me…right?

Monday, May 8th, 2006

I’m a bit annoyed right now; well not ANNOYED per say, but a happy frustration I guess I could label it.

Refrral Crap
I woke up this morning to find that my final offer went through for the Free Digital Camera (thanks Alicia) and now instead of just going in and claiming my free gift, they have a totally new setup that I really, truly dislike.

You have to SNAIL MAIL a color printed .PDF file with all of your information filled in. It takes 4-6 weeks for them to process this form. Then you have to log in to your account (regularly) to check on its status. Once approved you can go through the entire order process through the website

::blinks::

Am I the only person who finds this to be completely absurd? It’s just an extra headache. They updated the look of their site, which is fine because they’re millionaires and can do that. But when you totally update how the site is operated, there’s quite a bit of confusion there. When I got my iPod and my TV it was just a quick “Click here to redeem your gift” icon. It didn’t require a stamp and using the rest of the little ink I had in my printer.

I know it seems childish and I’m just getting the damn camera for free so I should buck up and deal with it.

Work Shit.
I’m more annoyed with my client right now. There’s nothing wrong with him per say, it’s just that when I email a question it takes 2-4 hours for him to respond. His response, however, it’s a “change-this-change-that” kind of an email. Considering the amount of money he’s paying me, I know that it has to be perfect but he stated in the beginning that he wanted to be in total contact with me at all times during the process. Wouldn’t that mean checking your email a little more than once a day considering you sit in front of a computer all day anyway?

Patio Woe’s
I drove around with my sister yesterday in hopes to find a patio set. We hit up Big Lots, Kmart, Sears, Home Depot and Wal-Mart. My father wasn’t too keen on the fact that I wanted to drop $125 on a picnic table that didn’t come with chairs. The table is like 96’x38′, it’s fairly large considering the price. He doesn’t seem to realize that I just have to drop $5 on each typical white plastic chair (that matches the table anyway). So I can get six of those for like $30 and it would still be about $50-$100 cheaper than some of the sets that Kmart, Wal-Mart and Home Depot had to offer. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but that would be a better idea, wouldn’t it?

I don’t know, it’s just a bad Monday, I’ll take it as that.

I’ll get around to returning comments later; I have some work to get done. I guess I just needed to vent a little bit.

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin…

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

I know it’s only been about four days since my last blog, but it’s actually been an eventful week and few things are actually worthy of being written down.

Shopping Fever
I did some shopping on Tuesday, I probably shouldn’t have but it was everything I needed. I poked around Maces with the intent of pricing a few things that I’ll be purchasing in upcoming weeks. The new table that I want to get for the porch will run me about $120; it doesn’t have ANY chairs though, so that was annoying. I honestly thought there would be a better selection. I did found a few nice sets that I’m interested in, but then I’d have to DOUBLE my spending budget for them and I don’t personally see that as something of importance. I think for now I’ll just use the table cloths that I bought off Ebay a few months ago. I’ll do some searching through Wal-Mart, Target and K-Mart before I make my final choice at Maces.

After Maces, I strolled around the mall for a little while. As usual it was extremely uneventful and I was very happy to get in the car and go. I wound up at Wal-Mart, because lets face it, now that K-mart is gone I’ve had to find a new addiction. I got myself some shorts and t-shirts because I really needed them. I don’t have any ‘summer’ clothes. The only shorts I’ve owned up to this point were old pants that I chopped the legs off of. I used to DESTROY all of my old jeans by walking on them, so I’d just cut them at the knee and instant shorts. I’m not too keen on doing that now, so I improvised and got a few pairs of $8 shorts, and a couple $5 tees. I picked up a few toiletries and priced some other items for the patio as well. Their furniture selection kind of sucks, but accessories wise I think I found some good shit.

Living on the second floor is usually good for privacy. However, our patio is wide open. We used to have a huge tree right next to us but the town cut it down so you can basically see everything going on up here. In wanting to fix this, I began searching for ways to cover up the patio without it being a total eyesore. I’ve found some 6’x6′ blinds that are only about $10 each, so if I were to get two of them I could just block off the whole side and not have to worry about anything. I’ve spoken to my dad about it, and he seems interested so I think we’ll take a drive out there this weekend and maybe pick them up.

Referral woe’s
I’m waiting for my 10th referral to go through for the Camera offer, and very patiently at that. This girl has signed up for me TWICE and neither one has been credited. I figured I’d wait a few business days in case there’s some kind of a delay but I’m to a point now that I have no idea if they’re going to even go through at all and I only have until the 30th.

Gratis has updated their prizes though. Instead of an 8megapixel Olympus being their ‘best’ camera, they now have a 9 mega pixel Fuji. I know that considering I’d only be using the images on the web, that having anything more than a 6 mega pixel is unimportant but I’m a bit confused as to which one I’m going to get. I’m leaning towards the 9 mega pixel, not for the quality but because of all that comes with it. There’s only a 16mb flash card, but right now I could order a 1gb card from Microcenter for like $30.00. So I’ll just cross that bridge when I get there.

Work..work…work
I’ve been ASS DEEP in code for the last three days. I swear I’m beginning to dream in PHP. It’s nothing but if-than statements circulating through my mind and it’s driving me bananas. I’ve got about 50% of the work completed, which is great considering I’m ahead of schedule (by 6 days at least). I hope to have everything completed a week earlier than my original due-date. A lot of it is template based, I completed the PHPSurveyor template in 6 hours, he was expecting something like 2 days. I’m slowly working on the Moodle template which I know will take me at least 3 days considering all of the template files that come with it. The client assumes it’s going to take me at least a week. I’m just hoping I’ll be able to exceed his expectations. If I do, this means A LOT of repeat business because I know he’s got about 5 more domains that he needs setup. With all the repeat business I know it’s going to be at least another 4g’s worth of work coming in through him, which is fine and dandy for me.

As far as Source-1 goes, outsourcing is still on hold because a client hasn’t paid up. Once he does pay, the boss told me that some jobs would be coming my way so I’ll have more to put into my car fund as time goes by. All I know is that May is still looking up to be quite a good month, so I’m definitely happy about this.

School
I got my final grades on those essays. I’m graduating with an 89% average, which is fine for me. I’m pissed about my grades though. My Auto-Biography only got a 70% because I didn’t give enough detail. My book report got an 80% because I gave too much detail. :blinks: I wish this damn school would just make up their minds. I can’t get my diploma unless I finish paying for the course. I can either send them a check for $350 or I can wait 10 months for it to be paid off in full. Either way doesn’t matter too much to me, at least I’m finished with it.

Bella
I’m bringing Bella to the groomer tomorrow morning. Her hair is too shaggy and she’s getting a little knotted. It’s also going to be rather hot this summer, considering that it’s only spring and today was a whopping 90°. I’m sure she’ll look like a little alien though. I’m getting her shaved completely. When I said that to the groomer on the phone she kind of stuttered a bit, but it’s my dog I can shave her if I want to. :humph: I’ll have a picture of it tomorrow afternoon when I pick her up.

[edit] – So here’s a few before/after pics. Not the best considering my cam isn’t cooperating much lately (damn batteries).

In any event….I’m on my dinner break so I think I’ll start returning some of the comments from the previous entry, thanks guys!
