Paintball = FUN!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Growing up on Long Island you didn’t hear much about paint ball, I don’t even think there was a place to go to in order to participate. Once I got down here, I noticed an over abundance of shops with paintball supplies, I found myself very interested in this.

Tippmann X7 We wondered into one of the stores one day and were looking around the cases and I found the TippmanX7 and fell in love, almost instantly. This gorgeous piece of paintball markers is about $430 but there are other places where I can find it for cheaper, that’s the beauty of the internet.

Behind this store was a field covered in more paint than I’d ever seen. They run an active paint ball war zone type of deal that’s open to the public and used rather frequently for those traveling down here in the summer. I don’t quite understand how they can run around in the heavy gear during the summer but more power to them.

We tried it out and I had more fun than I thought I would. I beaned him in the leg a few times. He beaned me back though, thankfully it hit the safety gear. Tuck and roll! It was a lot of fun though, I can’t wait to do it again. I’ve already told him that we’re going to have to setup our own war zone in the backyard and make all the neighbors get involved too…heh.

Not happening.

I know that I’ve been talking a lot about loans lately but this is based on the fact that while money is coming in fairly well at the moment, it’s all going towards my trip on the 12th. In the long run, however, I don’t ever see myself actually getting a loan. The reason so many people are in debt is because they’re living far beyond their means. Sure, you need to get a mortgage on that house of your dreams, but even if you paid for the house in cash you’d have to pay off a mortgage for a possible tax break in the future.

No matter which route you take, you’re screwed. Secured loans, home improvement loans, re mortgage loans, car loans, personal loans, student loans, and any other financially damaging thing they’d give you a loan for. Everyone is so willing to give you money just so they can beat you senseless with interest rates.

I don’t like the idea of a secured loan. I don’t like that in order to borrow a couple hundred dollars to pay the bills that you have to put your house or your car up as collateral. I’m sorry but anyone stupid enough to take this route deserves to lose their property. If you don’t have enough money to pay your cell phone bill, why not throw out the phone? If you can’t afford your rent because of your location, move to a place that you can. Having a cable internet, HDTV cable and a VOIP phone is a want, not a need.

Anyone can cut corners in order to cut back on their bills, the problem is that no one wants to because they feel they deserve everything that they’re getting. If it’s the choice between feeding your children or getting yourself a new outfit, and you choose the outfit – forget the debt, call CPS.

That’s just my take on it, at least.

Pretty flowers!

2FlowersCOM When it comes to special occasions, birthdays, holidays, etc. I like the idea of sending flowers to whomever deserves them for that day. With mother’s day coming up, I know for sure that I’m getting them for Kay but I also think I’m going to send them out to my aunt as well. I go through the usual websites looking for them but recently I came across 2flowers.com. The cool thing about this company is they deliver arrangements and gifts in many countries, all orders are hand delivered by premium local florists. Their pieces are all inclusive with absolutely no hidden fees. Orders are delivered next day, to any city.

I find larger companies like 1800flowers to be a bit impersonal. Sure, they deliver promptly and can create some nice looking arrangements but I like the idea of having mom and pop kind of florists to do the work, getting flowers away from the corporate world. I came across a few arrangements that I thought were really sweet for mother’s day gifts. The Many Thanks Bouqet has roses, ranunculus, gerbera daisies, and lilies in shes of pink that are complimented by white snapdragons and larkspur. If I were to wake up with this arrangement on my night-stand, I think I’d grin to the point of my cheeks popping off.

It’s really an interesting site, and I suggest you head over to 2flowers.com to get in your purchases for Mother’s Day – you only have until May 13th to do it!

Yep… I play!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I know I’ve noted it before but many people still don’t know that I play backgammon on a regular basis. The game actually relaxes me, almost as much as mancala or checkers. I started playing backgammon when I was younger. My father taught me and it was our ‘thing to do’ whenever nothing else was going on and we just wanted to find something to keep us entertained. At the rate of there never being anything good on TV, playing often was the only option. I do a lot of surfing online for tips and tricks and I spend quite a bit of time floating around backgammon masters, they’re a great site for keeping up with rules and what not.

Recently, BackgammonMasters.com purchased Roman Greenberg’s boxing shorts for quite a bit of money to help him make it to the top professional boxing ranks. The money will go directly to Greenberg for training for improvement of his boxing skills. After the match they’ll auction off his shorts starting at $100,000 and all the proceeds will go to charity for Arab and Jewish youth.

So it’s not just about playing the game anymore. To some degree it’s about helping others in need as well. Sure, they’re sponsoring someone to get their name out there but in return they’re giving quite a bit of money to children who need it. Give a little, take a little…nothing wrong with that.

Needing some kind of relief…

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Nurofen Plus I haven’t been doing too well lately. I don’t know if it’s the stress from all of the walking, the horrible bed that I’m sleeping on, or if it’s the fact that I’ve spent so much time sitting in uncomfortable chairs while I work all day, but I find myself being in more pain than usual. I’ve been searching every where for a pain reliever that doesn’t require me taking prescription drugs. There’s plenty of vicodin and percocet in the house but I get so tired and so sick after taking products like that, that I really have no choice but to take some aspirin and suck it up.

I found a new product, Nurofen Plus, that’s supposed to be a very strong pain reliever. It’s a dual action of ibuprofen and codeine. It’s powerful temporary relief for strong pain and/or inflammation associated with headache, tension headache, migraine headache, period pain, dental pain, back and neck pain, neuralgia, rheumatic and arthritic pain, muscular pain and sports pain.

So yea, it covers a lot of area’s but does it actually work? I honestly don’t know. While I believe that strong pain relievers are important – I’m not too sure about the $35 price tag attached to it. I also don’t know if this is even FDA approved and unfortunately I couldn’t find much information about it other than it’s made in New Zealand. It requires a bit more research for me to get myself into something like this…I’ll stick to Tylenol for now but guess it’d be worth trying for those who can’t get relief anywhere else.

Travel Plans: Florida!

Monday, April 30th, 2007

PPPBaby and I spend a lot of time talking about what we’d like to do in the future. One of our major goals is to travel to all 50 states (by Winnebago) and see all of the little mom and pop places that make America what it is. We don’t care about eating at any major food chains, we want little hole in the wall places that are popular for unique reasons. What we’ve both agreed upon, however, is that if we do go to any highly populated area that’s very well known it’s most likely going to be Orlando because of their theme parks and Disney World because it’s … well … the happiest place on earth.

I know a few people who live in Florida and while it’s a pretty bad state to live in if you don’t like constant storms, it’s worth it’s weight in gold for the beautiful beaches and even more beautiful people. I’ve considered owning an Orlando Vacation Home, I’ve also considered a Villa in Disney because I pay pretty close attention to Disney news and there’s quite a bit going on down there at the moment.

I’m not sure if those goals will ever be met. Things like this usually require a lot of money that I just don’t have right now. If I can continue to bring in a solid $2500 a month than maybe I’ll be able to reach these goals sooner than anticipated, for now it’s just a dream that I hope to have fulfilled one day… nothing wrong with that.

Lot’s to do, no time to do it.

PPPSince it’s spring, naturally I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning. The living room is clean, kitchen is cleaning, dining room is clean, bathroom is clean and the bedroom is clean, but slightly in a bit of chaos while I’m still figuring out where to place everything. The only thing I haven’t done yet is take care of everything outside of the house. There’s still some weeds to be pulled, seeds to be planted (now that it’s warming up outside) and I desperately need to pressure wash the deck and the porch because of the last few years of crud that’s gone untouched since Baby moved into this house. This house wasn’t here for that long before they moved in, it actually was only built a few months before they purchased it. That’s the beauty of new communities and manufactured homes.

I love this house, it’s just so close to the beach that it’s not easy to keep clean. We track sand in whenever we walk on the boardwalk and it’s the typical salty air that you would expect considering it’s so close to the Atlantic Ocean so it’s only natural to want to go outside to pressure wash the exterior, there’s also a few large trees around so the sap coming off them doesn’t help either.

Since the trip to Atlantic City is coming up, I’m also going to have to pressure wash the cars as well. Baby’s car is kind of grimy because I don’t think he’s washed it since he bought it and there’s a lot of sand and random garbage beginning to pile up in there. I think Kay is taking her car to the car wash up the street because it’s new so it needs to be waxed before the hot sun and salty air begin eating away at the paint.

So basically…there’s a lot to do and not much time to do it.

Brand new pay site!

Monday, April 30th, 2007

There’s a new paid-to-blog site out there named bloggerwave. They’re a lot like many of the sites out there at the moment. You sign up and once your blog is approved you head over to the opportunities and begin blogging. For those looking to be involved in an up and comming paid-to-post website, then I think bloggerwave.com would be the best place for you. Head over there now, it’s a quick sign up process and there’s currently $20 worth of entries listed for those just signing up. Paid blogging is really quick cash, especially with all of the stay at home moms and job seekers out there right now.

Many people have their own personal opinions about paid blogging, I personally think that there’s nothing wrong with it and encourage it to anyone who’s only form of income is based online. Bloggers have been reviewing products and weblogs for years, nothing wrong with getting paid for it on occasion.

Check out bloggerwave.com, you may like what you see.

That special someone.

I lose my … what?

Monday, April 30th, 2007

While I’m primarily saving up for my vacation with Baby, I’m saving beyond my goal for a secondary goal. I’m pretty desperate to get into school and at this rate, while paid posting and design work is going pretty well at the moment, I’m still having a little bit of trouble getting off the ground. In order to get the money I need for school, including the supplies I would need in order to achieve full potential of what I set out to do, I’m probably going to have to take out a loan.

Thankfully, I’ve done enough research to know that I just need to take out a personal loan, maybe even a student loan. When I first read the term secured loan, I was very confused until I read what it meant. I don’t have a house or a car to put up as collateral so there’s no way that it would be a good idea for me. There’s also secured home loans but it really makes no sense to me because what’s the point of putting up a house as collateral when you just need the loan to put money into the house or even buy one. I’m an idiot when it comes to this stuff. I just need to pay close attention of everything going on around me to make sure I don’t do something seriously wrong to the point of messing myself up. I can’t even get a bad credit secured loan because I have nothing to put up in it’s place. I refuse to lose my dog, no matter how much money was spent on her.

Back to the drawing board – eh?

I don’t like lawyers…

Monday, April 30th, 2007

The one thing I hate the most is dealing with the court systems. I’ve had my fair-share of run-ins with court rooms, mainly because giving someone a free nose job is frowned upon – but that’s besides the point. Right now, my most recent dealing, is all because Baby’s father is a complete butt head.

Last week the doorbell rang and I found myself face-to-face with the mail man while holding back one of the dogs from ripping his ankle off. It was a registered letter, and not thinking twice about it – I went ahead and signed for it. I wasn’t aware that it came from his father until after I’d closed the door and pushed Princess back into her bed. After opening everything, baby instantly went crazy to find out that his father is suing his mother for things of which she has no control over. There were at least 100 pages worth of crap that he’d printed off line and sent in to the court house so who knows what’s really going on there, I just know that she’s been through three lawyers about it and none of them can help her out.

I wanted to find something for her because there’s no reason why she should do this all by herself. I did happen to come across longestlaw.com which is a site that specializes in getting you the right information about attorneys. It teaches you how to choose an attorney and where to find them. There are articles and daily resources about attorneys, us attorneys and tax attorney’s. It was kind of hard to read through everything because of all of the disorganization but what I could come across, nothing really stood out for me to help her out at the moment. There is a site map but the site is SO overrun with ads that it makes me look like I have no ads on my site at all, in comparison. Unfortunately there was nothing on this site that could help her out because she needs one in the Divorce/Children’s Law area so I had to continue my search elsewhere. She hopes to have everything done within the next couple of days, and because of how the letter showed up she doesn’t even know if he actually filed any of this with the courts yet.

There’s just a lot of phone calls to be made, and a lot of people to deal with – this isn’t going to be fun at all.

Lighting Up

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

With the upcoming remodel of both the office and the bedroom, we’re going to do some serious updating as far as lighting is concerned. The ceiling fans are in good condition because the house is only two years old. The lighting attached to them is OK but it’s a little too bright to help with concentration. I know that may sound strange but when you look at a monitor all night, extremely bright lights around you can make it difficult to see anything by the end of the day. It also makes it hotter in there because the room is literally a little cubby-hole with one window that barely picks up a breeze because of it’s location in the room.

We’re looking for lighting fixtures that don’t give off a lot of heat and are still enough light to keep us both comfortable enough to work. We also have to factor in that, since we’re in a small room, we don’t need a vast amount of fixtures. Simple desk lamps may suffice but I think anything over a 40 watt bulb would be kind of stupid considering a 40 watt would brighten up the room more than enough for our eyes to focus.

She’s pregnant!

Friday, April 27th, 2007

PPP I was told yesterday that an old friend of mine is 3 months pregnant. While I wish her all the luck in the world I know that it’s going to be difficult for her. Her husband isn’t exactly the best provider in the world but I assume that baby clothing and diapers will be added to his to-do list without any real complaints. I just hope that he’s able to give her and her child the life that they deserve. She didn’t have such a great upbringing, her father was a real annoyance in her life, hopefully her baby gets a better deal.

So I decided to email her and ask her how she was doing, how she’s feeling about everything, and we got into a conversation about baby showers, baby supplies, baby clothing and a lot more. I pointed her to BabyCZ. It’s not a run-of-the-mill baby clothing store, the clothes that are sold here are hand-picked by people who know about baby fashion. You’re not going to find the same lack of quality clothing here that you would at Wal-mart. BabyCZ has cashmere and luxury baby clothing, even gifts for young ones. IE: No thin tee’s with Elmo plastered on it.

This site isn’t just for baby clothing though, you can also find outfits for adults. A lot of kids like to wear their mothers clothing, and I know a few mothers who look at baby clothing and think “If only they made this in my size!”, welp – they do. BabyCZ has a section for adults that match the same prints as their children. Mother and Daughter can match no matter where they are. There’s also a mens section so fathers and sons can match as well. It’s a pretty interesting site, especially for similar clothing in Christmas Cards! My cousins in NJ always send out a family photo for Christmas and they’re always wearing the same clothing. I always thought it was a cute idea, maybe it’s something you can do with your little ones for the holidays, or just year-round in general.

World Travel: Bulgaria

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Anyone will tell you that the real money lays in investments and real estate. Investing in property is probably one of the most financially sound things to do, if you can afford it. A sound investment is Overseas Property. While there is still a mound of debt troubling the world, there are some people still making quite a bit of money, enough to travel the world if they really wanted to, especially with credit card reward miles. When traveling, it’s always a good idea to look at some of the possible investment properties out there as well. Maybe you’d come across a house that’s absolutely beautiful, and up for grabs. Having a vacation home is great, but owning it for local renters or even listing it on hotel websites for Bed and Breakfast type rooms is great as well. One hot-spot at the moment is in Bulgarian Property.

Bulgaria Those in the investment field will consider Bulgaria to be untapped potential in regards to properties. Bulgaria is a country of variety, both graphically and culturally. The country has only received widespread recognition within the last couple of years, many locations in Bulgaria have yet to be discovered by international tourism. Tourists find Bulgaria beautiful based on their beaches along the Black sea, hundreds of thousands of people head here yearly for fun in the sun, in a beautiful environment. One place I looked into the most had to be Golden Sands, a resort on the Black Sea (show in the image to the left).

If you’re looking into investing in something that will give you not only a great turn around, but beautiful scenery…Bulgaria is the place to go.

Mother’s Day – Fast Approaching

Friday, April 27th, 2007

FlowerBloom - Flower I spent many years of my life without a mother figure, I didn’t feel that sense of ‘female authority’ until Alicia and I spent more time together than we did with our own families. While I haven’t spoken to her in quite some time, I do consider her mother to be a mother-figure to me. I also consider Baby’s mom one as well, she’s probably one of the sweetest women I’ve ever known. Since mother’s day is coming up, I figured I’d do something special. I’ve considered the plethora of ideas and the one that sticks out quite a bit is a product named FullBloomTea.

FullBloomTea is a very unique kind of tea. Not only is it visually appealing, they taste great too. A quick description of how it works, and how it tastes:

When steeped in water that has been boiled, our tea blooms twist, turn, move and appear to bloom right before your eyes into amazing floral bouquets. Not only are these teas beautiful, but they also contain the finest rare Silver Needle White Tea leaves rich in antioxidants and are infused with beautiful dehydrated flowers such as Jasmine, Globe Amaranth and Marigold just to name a few which give additional flavors and health benefits to our teas. Mild in flavor, our tea blooms can be re-steeped up to 3 times each. And once you are done steeping and drinking, why not put the used bloom in a clear glass or vase with clean water to enjoy the beauty as a centerpiece or on your nightstand for an extra day or two.

FlowerBloom - Pod FullBloomTea.com is featured on 6 popular tea-based blogs it was also featured on Great Day San Antonio Health Bites (TV). Their most popular blooms are: Let Love Bloom, Happiness Bloom, Teapot Bloom, Star Bloom. If you look at some of the images behind it, they literally just come in small little packages that pop when they hit the water, that’s pretty darn nifty if you ask me. There are quite a few tea’s to choose from, they don’t just have blooms – they do have your standard tea leaves as well. There are quite a few gift packages available as well, starting at just $29. I guess I’m going to have to get two, won’t I?

Payday Loans

Friday, April 27th, 2007

There are a plethora of options to keep yourself on top of your bills. Unfortunately, a lot of employers are now only handing out paychecks twice a month (I guess it cuts down on paperwork). The problem with this is a lot of bills are due at separate times during the month, because of this – there is a rise in bankruptcy based on a rise in things piling up. There are options though, payday loans being one of them.

A payday loan is a short term financial device intended to help people cover their bills or unexpected expenses during a temporary loss of income or a time of financial duress. Payday loans are secured against a future source of income such as a paycheck or government stipend that are deposited directly into your account within 24 hours of a completed application.

In order to become qualified for a payday loan you need to meet a small list of requirements. You obviously need a job or regular source of income which must total at least $1,000 a month. If you have an active checking or savings account and are at least 18 years old, you’re eligible for a payday loan.

The approval process is anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Funds are transferred directly to your bank account overnight, so you’ll need direct deposit enabled for your bank account. There’s no need for a credit check because payday loans are secured against your paycheck. So whatever your financial situation is, as long as you’re making a minimum of $1,000 a month – you’ll be approved. There’s no application fee and it’s safe to apply for one online, especially through sites like powerpaydayloan.com.

If you’re having financial troubles because of an unexpected occurrence, you should try for one today.
