Happy June!

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

If you didn’t already notice, there’s a new theme up here on k.nu. I finished it a few weeks ago and since it’s officially June 1st, I had to do the June launch. So yea…here it is lol.

I spent the whole day working. My eyes are literally bugging out on me so this post won’t be very long. I’m basically done with everything I was working on so I have a nice cozy day off a head of me when I wake up this morning. I figure I’ll knock out around 4am and then I know I’ll be up about 10am so that’s a good enough six hours to keep me moving tomorrow during my ‘curl-up-in-front-of-the-TV” day.

We put the AC in the living room window so now I can actually open my bedroom door and let Bella run free. It’s nice not having her right on my feet while I’m trying to do something. Thankfully the rest of the house is cool too so I’m happy with that.

I’m heading off to bed though. I have a quick phone call to make and then my head will smack a pillow and not move for at least 6 hours.

g’night

Screw April…yay May!

Monday, May 1st, 2006

As of midnight it’s officially May. In keeping with the usual “new theme every month” routine, there’s a new template up. I thought it felt very spring-like without being a total eyesore, to me at least. I’m happy with how it came out though. I haven’t really experimented with colors this way before so I was glad to do it.

Work Related…
I’ve been kind of busy lately. I’m happy to announce that I’ve landed a very, very big client and I’ll be working with him for the next couple of weeks. I’m getting about $1800 from this project and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m to a point now where I have a whopping $52.54 in my bank account and there are quite a few bills to pay. Fortunately I’ve got the servers on credit for the month, so I’m going to wind up having to pay them off when I get the remaining 80% from this client. That’s not too big of a deal though, I’m not overly concerned. Tony knows I’m good for the money and that’s all that matters.

I’m just going to be VERY, VERY busy for the next couple of weeks. I don’t mind though, I kind of need that right now. April 27th 2006 would have been Joe’s 25th birthday. Unfortunately, since his death, I haven’t really done any work. I’ve done a few odd and end jobs, but other then that I haven’t really done any corporate based accounts (that’s where the real money is). Thankfully this client will get me out of my rut. All summer plans should now be full speed ahead.

Laptop Related…
I jumped the gun a few weeks ago and already purchased my wireless router. It only cost me like $5 so it was definitely not a dent in any sort of spending budget. The router originally was $69.99, it was on sale for $49.99 and I had about $50 in gift certificates to Circuit City. I basically just paid tax on it. So, I’ve got my router. In a few weeks (when I get my final check from this client) I’ll be heading to HP.com and putting my order through on the dv800z laptop. After configuration and tax, and before the $50 mail-in rebate, it’s going to run me $1,423; which is fine considering that’s $77 under budget. I’m still getting $50 back on it so then it’s really $127 under budget. I’ll then be heading to NewEgg.com and ordering my mouse and flash drive. My printer is a piece of shit, so I’ll be unable to network it so that I can print from the Laptop. The flash drive is easier than hooking up a USB/ZIP drive and transferring everything over. So I’ll just spend $15 on a 1-gb flash stick and the rest is history.

School Related…
I’m still waiting to hear something from school. I was finally emailed back about my essays. I sent the essays out on April 3rd, apparently they didn’t get there until April 11th, which I find to be a bit weird considering they were only sent upstate. I don’t know how long it takes for them to actually GRADE the essays and I’ll tell you that it’s ticking me off to no end that they haven’t even been looked at yet. I worked really, really hard on them and it’s kind of annoying that they’re taking their sweet time. I’m thinking that’s based on the fact that I’m paying for school monthly though. If I would have just given them the $550 up front, I’m sure that it would have been graded already. But since I have another 10 months left before it’s fully paid off, then obviously they can take all the time they want.

This doesn’t mean I’m not going to keep pushing it though. I’d like to get my degree ASAP damn it.

Miscellaneous…
Tax season has come and gone. Dad’s getting back about $5,000 and I owe money, but hey – that’s life! He’s made it a point to say that he’s going to be getting new couches for the living room. Many of you may (or may not) know that a little over a year ago I bought a big double seater wicker chair off Ebay. It was in my room for the first six months or so and then we started moving things around for Christmas and realized we needed another couch in there. So now, I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m couch-less. At the time of my purchase, we only had a loveseat and a chair in the living room. The love-seat we’ve had for about 10 years and it was falling apart when we got it. So now, we’re going to head over to some close-out furniture store and pick up a nice new set for about $500. I kind of thought it was going to be an uncomfortable set considering the price, but once I sat down I was in HEAVEN, my back didn’t bother me AT ALL and that’s a very, very rare thing these days. So thankfully in a few weeks I’ll be able to get my couch back in here, this way I’m not stuck in my bed whenever I’m reading. Usually it’s comfortable but now I’m going on six months without any kind of comfort what so ever. :hmph:

So if you haven’t already picked up on it, I’m rather excited about May. March and April turned out to be some very shitty months, I’ll be glad to start picking up and moving on. I’m still very upset about Joe’s passing, but for the most part I know that he’s still here with me, and that’s helping me to wake up in the morning. I guess that’s all that matters.

Site Related
I’ve gotten myself back into a few comment sites. Despair, Exentrique and of course Xposure. Sofar I’m content with them, I’ve already been yelled at by a member or two because I report users who don’t comment, sorry for ya but I follow the rules…unlike you. I’ve wanted to get Provance back up and running for quite some time but am unable to afford the script. I’m really, really ticked off that Russ bought it and let it fucking die the way it did. I’d beat him for it, if he wasn’t MIA for crying out loud.

AcidGloss Related
After a very long down time AcidGlossNET is finally back up and running. My portfolio, as well as design site is all setup into one big site that I’m actually HAPPY with. I intend to add more to it over time, but it’s going to take a little while. I figure, in order to keep on top of things, I’ll just add sites as I create them. It makes things easier.

In any event, this post has gotten a little too long and I’m sure you’re growing bored of it, so I’m going to head off.

What do you guys think of the new theme? Is it colorful enough for you? haha

K.nu needs your help!

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

I’m to a point now where I’m begging that if you can take the time to sign up for the notebook offer, under my referral, you’d be helping me out a great deal. I’m 9 people away from the $1800 I’d be receiving from the offer. This would very easily get me a new monitor and pay off my bills so I can enroll in new courses at school. Once I have the money I’ll send $10 to everyone who completed the last 9 offers for me.

Please Note: Due to recent sign-up changes with nb4f.com users are no longer listed by email address. You now use a USERNAME. Please make sure to email me when you’ve completed an offer, telling me your username. If you do not do this, I will have no way of contacting you about your $10 paypal payment. And sorry, but if I can’t get in touch with you then I can’t pay you. So don’t turn it into a ‘you jipped me’ kind of thing, it’d be your own fault.

If you don’t wish to sign up then every dollar counts.

All donaters/signups will be contacted about lifetime advertising in the 468×60 rotation with AGn Advertising. All you have to do is contact me with your banner information (up to 3 sites ONLY) when you notify me of your payment/referral sign up.

Happy March!

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Well, I said it was simple and I meant it was simple. I spent a whopping five minutes on the graphics for this theme, and that’s only because Photoshop was lagging a little bit. So like it or not it’ll be up for the month; at least it’s easy to read.

It took me longer to code this one though. If you went through the navigation you’d see why. It’s not a hard script to write it was just a bitch to me when I was trying to get it loaded to the Exit pages, not sure why but I managed to figure it out. I guess the number of external links was fucking with it, who knows.

I’ve been having some MAJOR issues for the past couple of days. So far this week I’ve taken a very nasty fall, went about 36 hours without sleep, my cold has resurfaced so I’m back to being plain old sick again. Gotta love Wednesdays, right?

So both Adam and I have agreed that this Stein account is driving us crazy. Last time I checked he was waiting on a response from the client and then going to send in the bill. I want to get paid damn it, it’s been well over a month! I believe I started it Jan 14th, and that’s only because I dated that particular folder. Yep, just double checked that one Saturday, January 14, 2006, 5:27:23 PM – Wouldn’t you say its time for them to pay up? I certainly think so.

With a big thank you to Sarah for allowing me to use her Gerber Daises images, Euphoric MB currently has quite a nifty and bright layout up as its default. I’m happy with how it came out and I’m glad she likes it too considering it’s based off her images.

Today is supposed to be semi-busy for me, I guess that’s the only reason I’m posting this now instead of doing it later. Since I only got three hours of sleep I’m semi-coherent at the moment so I guess it made sense to post.

Dad and I are going shopping today. I went through my closet last week and noticed that I have about 800 pairs of pants and maybe 10 shirts that I rotate regularly. So I ask him if I bought him breakfast would that get him to drive me out east to do some shopping. He agreed and in about 20 minutes I’ll be getting dressed and we’ll then head out to iHOP or something. It’s easier with them; they serve breakfast all day there’s no reason to rush to get anywhere.

I think we’re going to hit up Kmart, Wal-Mart, Target, and Macy’s. Then on the way home we’ll head to Sears to pick up something for my aunts birthday. I’m always messing up her birthday – and it happens every single year. She was born on 3/4 but her mother was born on 3/6, so having birthday’s that close together really kind of confuse people. My dad’s known ’em both for almost 60 years and he confuses them so it’s not like we don’t care about her, so you can choke on that thought. The only reason I’m remembering lately is because now she’s got herself a couple of email addresses and they’ve all got 34 on ’em. YAY yet more proof that the brains of the family rest solely on Dad’s side.

In any event, I have to get dressed, walk Bella and blow my nose to the point where at least one nostril is free for the day.

Tootles!

It’s Up!

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

Okay, so after a couple days of tweaking and preparing, the new layout is up. It features Bella because she’s my valentine this year. She wakes up and licks my face just like any loser boyfriend in the past – so why not?

I went all out on this one though, shockingly enough. If you notice when you go through the navigation everything changes (depending on the category). This was intentional. I’ve been working on a lot of business sites lately and for some reason this particular setup is burned into my brain. So using it on a personal site is a tad bit different, but I like it either way. Hell, pink and grey always work well together; doesn’t it?

It’s Wednesday, and oddly enough my day off. I’ve been working my ass off for the last two weeks and am taking a much needed break. I almost didn’t even want to blog or put this template up. I had no reason to turn on my computer, but I promised so that’s why it’s up. I get to spend the next two days finishing up any and everything I can on a few clients sites and then I’m gone for the weekend.

My aunt’s going to the city for some big super bowl thing on Saturday so I’m staying at her house. I got my American Government module yesterday so I’m taking it with me to get all of my homework done. Having two days of absolute silence? There?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s no problem here! Yea, I’ll have to listen to my uncles TV on Sunday because he’s a sports fanatic and apparently the Super Bowl is a big deal, never was to me so I don’t give a shit. I’ve got the rest of the house to myself though, so I’ll work it out. I’m sure I’ll be stuck with either Figgy or Lacey on my lap. Gotta love cats that just won’t leave you alone!

I’ve been breaking down my to-do list for tax season and I’m set way behind because of the billing center at source-1. They send out all of the w2 forms at the same time, so of course I’ll probably have to wait until two weeks before taxes are freaking due, UNFAIR. I definitely know what I’m doing with whatever money I do get to keep this year.

  • Gut Room: Go through everything, throw out anything not needed.
  • Clean Closet: I’ve got clothes in there that I don’t wear and their just taking up space. A lot of moms shit is still in there too so being as she no longer lives here, hello local landfill.
  • Paint Room: I’m going to take down all shelving, posters and nick nacks and fill in the holes and paint everything pure white.
  • Paint Doors: I’m painting the closet doors black, or maybe just purchasing new ones because these doors are 20 years old and need an update…badly.
  • Purchase Rug: I’m going with either a grey with a black border, or grey with navy border. I currently have a rosey pink one that’s been in here for about 12 years and its just UGLY. It’s in decent condition – I just hate the colors.
  • Domestications.com will be my new best friend. I’m getting new pillows, sheets, a comforter, the works. Pillows need to be replaced once a year, and mine are about a month over due.
  • Bedroom Diagram Rearrange: I’m basically switching the setup I’ve got right now. As you can tell I’m just moving things around a bit, nothing too major at all. The reason behind this would be that I’m purchasing a new monitor. It’d be easier for me to have my desk next to the window if I can put a new monitor on it. I’ll give me more then half my desk space back and believe me I’d kill for that. I also love having fresh air during the day and unfortunately right now I’m facing a wall…not a window.

So yea – those are my plans. They don’t seem like much but trust me, they’re definitely worth it. I haven’t had a major overhaul in here in 12-13 years, I think its time, believe me.

In any event; It’s almost 2 pm which means I have to go veg out on the couch for an hour before dad gets home. I have to then head on down to the grocery store and do some shopping. There’s absolutely no food in the house and I’m getting sick of my sister bitching about it. For someone who fucked up her own car, then decided that she’s buying a brand new ford truck, you’d think she’d go out and get a job…HA. She’s convinced that dad is going to co-sign, and that she’s going to get the loan from the dealership. It’s funny considering she barely works one job and isn’t even on the books, has no bank account, and no previous credit what so ever. I can only imagine how quickly that credit check would work out.

Alrighty – I’m going now. Toodles!

99% Complete

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

I worked on it for a few hours and finally got almost all of my content up and running. The only thing I have to work on is the Portfolio, which I should hopefully have up within the next day or so. I really just have to start accumulating screen shots for recent work, that’s all.

But for now, it’s almost 4am and I’m beat beyond recognition. I also haven’t had a cig in about 10 hours so I’m lagging right now so I’m gonna head off for the night.

I know Ranee was waiting on an update from me, and now she’s got two. Merry Christmas 😆

New Year…Fresh Start

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

I figured with the new year it was time to have a fresh start. A fresh layout, a fresh blog installation with WordPress 2.0, fresh content, new links, smaller sidebars, minimal advertising, the works.

I no longer wish to have multiple skins. If I get tired of a theme, I’ll change it. For now I wanted to stick to something as simple as possible and I’m thankful that this theme turned out exactly how I wanted it, even the colors, so that’s a plus.

I have alot of work to do on content, so that will be down for a little while. But for now I just wanted to get everything loaded and ready to go for the New Year, sure I’m about 4 days late but hey…I’ve been busy so pfft heh.

It was a rather busy day. I was working on four different sites and managed to get away long enough to get sick from dinner and take a much needed shower. Although none of my new years goals included quitting smoking, I haven’t had a cig in about 6 hours. Believe me when I say this is rare for me considering there’s a full pack sitting right in front of me.

My goal for tomorrow is to get my room cleaned up. With the holiday and the fact that I wasn’t feeling well, I slacked off on my room. I only did it because I was conserving the little energy I had to clean the rest of the house for dinner on Sunday (which went very well by the way).

I have a few loads of laundry, some dusting and then some vacuuming to do. It should take me no longer then a half hour but its just the fact that I have to get the energy to do it, you know?

I picked up a few big jobs this week, once I get paid I’m going to head down to Staples and get the chair I wanted for Christmas. The one I’m on now has been destroyed for the last 5 months and it just gets worse and worse. See, the arm is broken on the chair and that messes up the support for the back of the chair. So I’m leaning back very uncomfortably even when I try to sit up straight. A few months of doing this, plus an already bad back, just makes it difficult to get comfortable.

In any event, I have some more work to do on the content. Night all.
