To be or Not to be….Offended?

Monday, June 4th, 2012

So as a new mommy, I admit that I do not have many other mommy friends with children the same age. Most have children 3yrs and up or no children at all. I know that this will all change once my son starts going to some sort of school, but in the meantime, we take what we can get. When my son was first born, I was happy to re-kindle a friendship from past with a new mommy to a little boy only 2 months older than mine. Niether of us were working so we would have playdates almost every day. Once my friend got a job, we really didn’t get to see each other. The phone calls and texts became fewer and longer inbetween, then stopped all together. Not in a bad way, just in a I’m busy kinda way. I never thought that we had become non-friends. So when it was approaching her sons first birthday, I received a random group text about the hosting a party (a tupperware type thing) to help raise funds to throw the party about a month before. Then as usual, I never heard anything else.

Last week it dawned on me that I had not heard anything else, and decided to check her facebook….I was shocked to see that she was posting about getting ready for the partty, and that the invites had gone out, yada yada yada. I simply could not resist, I texted her in a fashion that seemed as if I didn’t see this information: “Someone’s big 1st birthday is coming up! It went so fast, can’t believe we haven’t seen each other, we must have a playdate soon!” her reply: “I thought you hated me or something! Im having a bday bbq on sat u should come! Im so glad 2 hear from u!!!” It seemed she had this feeling, but I did, and don’t, know why? At the same time I was completely offended that she hadn’t picked up a phone, or sent my son an invite. I happen to be one of those people that over analysis a situation, for two reasons. One is that I really do want to be a kind person and see the best in all, and second I want to make sure that I was not going crazy and really did not do something wrong to cause this situation.

Fast forward to the morning of the party. I start my over analysis, and question if I should really go to the party. If I don’t go, I would simply text her on Monday to explain that I was offended, and didn’t really feel comfortable attending since we didn’t receive a real invite. Then I cross examined myself and thought, since she extended the invite, even if it was by text, that it would be rude not to make an appearance.  I went back and forth with myself for about an hour n half  before finally deciding I was being silly and to just go. Offended or not, it was proper etiquette  to attend. And figured if it was wierd; we had made our appereance and we could just leave.

When we turned onto her block it was chuck full of cars, I found a spot a block away and headed towards the house. The front yard was covered in a bouncy house, thru to the backyard covered in a huge tent with a dozen tables and chairs, a professional sized grill, five large coolers filled with beer, wine, water, juice boxes, and other adult cocktail mixes. On another table, they served penne al a vodka, sausage n peppers, pulled pork, potato salad, cole slaw, pasta salad, corn on the cobb, hambergers and hot dogs. The tent was decorated with tons of balloons, and there were people EVERYWHERE! This was no ordinary 1st bday, this was for the adults….(in kicked my reasoning for being offended! This was a big affair, and obviously invites had to have been sent, I was offended again!) I immediately called my husband and told him, “get in the shower, you are coming to this party! Im the only one by myself with a baby” I usually don’t make my husband attend such events cause he gets board and annoyed. I wound up having the best time, enjoyed the food, music, and other guests. I didn’t feel wierd at all, and it turned out to be such a fun day for my whole family. So offended or not, I chalk it up to a good time that would never had been if I had kept that negativity of being offended run thru my viens.

Curious though, would you have been offended?

Mobile Broadband

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Knowing that I’m going to be spending quite a bit of time in the car over the course of the next few weeks, I’ve been looking into a Broadband company that I can use to travel with.¬† I’ve narrowed it down to Sprint and Verizon but I am leaning more towards Sprint based on the pricing at the moment.

Has anyone of you used either of these companies?  What do you think of their mobile broadband services?

Does anyone else know of a mobile broadband company available in the U.S. that’s prepaid?

Most services require a two-year contract, I don’t see the point in investing in that when I’m going to have broadband the second my computer is even put through the door out there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Making the switch.

I’ve been back and forth on whether or not I’m going to leave the PC world in the dust and transfer everything over to a Mac in the near future. An avid mac-user friend of mine is trying to convince me to drop about $10,000 on a fully loaded Mac Pro with a 30-inch cinema display. I put that idea out of her head when I sent her a screen shot of the money in my bank account. Now she’s all up in arms about how a loaded iMac would do the same thing for me.

I’m upset to know that the 17-inch iMac can no longer be found anywhere (new at least). I guess I can deal with the now standard 20-inch iMac but this doesn’t mean there’s going to be enough room on my desk for it, considering there are two monitors there already. The base model is going to run me in the $1200 range. This is a lot better in regards to finances, but it also stems back to whether or not there’s going to be enough room on the desk.

Another option that I’ve been considering is the Mac Mini. I have a dual-monitor setup but when I’m actually at my desktop, I’m using one side specifically for design and the other monitor is basically used for everything else. So the only real change here is the fact that I’m going to be switching back and forth between keyboards. With the wireless keyboard option, I can just store them away whenever I’m not using it so I can just go back to it later.

The final option, and this one hurts the most because of how hard I worked for it, but getting rid of my HP DV5000 laptop and purchasing a Macbook. It’s a leap for me considering I’d be losing 2.4-inches of viewing space but what I like about the Macbooks is that no matter which model you get – 1GB of ram comes standard with all of their systems.

So here’s my question –

You have a $1500 budget and you’re considering switching over to a Mac. Would you get an iMac, Mac Mini or Macbook? And why?

I’ve finally made my decision.

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

So after finally getting a chance to talk to Adam, I’m confident that I’m making a good decision about school. I’ve decided upon Westwood Online. In total it’s probably going to run me in the $60,000 range but at the same time (after talking to Sean and working with his knowledge of financial aid and grants) I’m also confident that financial aid and grants offered through the school and other outside resources that I’ve been provided with will more than likely cover about half of the full tuition. So instead of hoping to get a $65,000 loan (I’m factoring in supplies here) I’ll only have to look into about $25,000-$30,000 which isn’t as bad as I originally thought it was.

I did some playing around with numbers and noticed that if I keep on the path I’m on, I’ll be bringing in about $45,000 a year and that’s just good enough for me. If I put the bulk of it into savings I should have the loan paid off before I even graduate and then I don’t have to worry about an excess interest payments.

I was considering taking the Web Design & Multimedia course but after talking to Sean I’m not too sure because he told me about how his step mother made some pretty decent money working only 4 hours a day at $80 an hour doing graphics design. Westwood also offers a Graphics Design & Multimedia course.

Adam explained to me that even with his Bachelors I still know more about actual web design than he does. After a quick look at the over-view of the course I found out that it’s all basic introduction based courses and there really is nothing new that I’ll be learning through that course. So now I believe I’m just going to go straight for the graphics design course. It’s all still in the same price range and I’ll be able to utilize the upcoming iMac purchase I’ll be making.

I’ve been talking quite a bit about that on AGn Designs lately but I’ve decided to take about $1600 and get a 20″ iMac that’s fully loaded, to my specifications naturally. I don’t have to worry about any excess crap. But I could also take the route of taking out a loan for school and take $3,000 of that and throw some major components into the larger 24″ iMac that, as of right now, is base-priced in the $2,000 range.

So here’s where I ask you to help me out. Should I wait for the loan or should I just get it now?

What’s with all the boozers?

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

I logged into Myspace for the first time in a few weeks and I noticed quite a few friend requests from people I used to go to school with, or have just known over the years and lost touch with. The one running theme for maybe 8/10 of them were pictures of then being close to completely drunk and acting rather slutty in the process.

What is it about turning 21 and falling down-hill to a state of being a complete whore? One of them needs to admit she actually is a lesbian, I hate people who spend their lives in a closet and don’t actually admit to who they truly are. Another one is so wasted in about 100% of her pictures that she’s close to being completely unrecognizable and frankly, if no one wanted to see your chest back in high school – what makes it so different now?

Jesus!

New Resource: WebCockPit

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

I found something pretty cool today it’s called WebCockpit 1.0. It’s a pretty large article in regards to how the 1% of the worlds richest people get more done by working less and less hard at the same time. They consider it to be a simple brain hack that allows you to accomplish 300% more work in the same amount of time. Figure you work for 8 hours a day and still feel as though you accomplish nothing. This article, and free site, teach you how to triple your daily accomplishments in 8 hours, and maybe even less.

When you sign up for a free account you’re sent to a page that houses the quick hacks. The first one states that we burn over 10% of our available ‘fuel’ every day just digesting our food. If you chew every bit of food 30 times before swallowing you use less energy – which gives you more towards accomplishing your daily work efforts.

Another hack is in regards to the water myth of drinking 8 glasses a day. It’s actually a wives tail or to be more blunt, it’s a well established urban legend. There’s no scientific support behind the popular 8-glasses-a-day theory. None of the scientists at the American Journal of Physiology state that we don’t actually NEED water, because naturally you need water in order to survive, but as far as 8 glasses a day, it’s truly not helping anyones health.

While you do not need 8 glasses a day, drinking water regularly throughout the day is important. Because most of us are chronically dehydrated – this then causes fatique and it then effects your overall performance. Many people who simply take up the habit of drinking a glass or even half a glass every hour notice that their energy levels skyrocket.

Dehydration making you tired? Dizziness, Chronic Fatigue, Impotance, Hair Loss, Headaches, Low Back Pain, Constipation and more are all linked to dehydration (Resource: Merck Manual of Health).

I found this article to be quite interesting, I think you should check it out. Note that from the get-go you’re only given two of these and you do have to pay in order to gain access to the rest but knowing that you’re going to learn quite a bit, I’d say it’s worth the money.

The Law of Attraction

Friday, July 20th, 2007

I’m the kind of person that believes you reap what you sew, you get what you deserve, and you bring it upon yourself. I know it may seem harsh but it’s also the law of attraction. Take ex-boyfriends or ex-girlfriends, for example, you tell yourself that you keep attracting losers and then in the end, you actually do because your aura signal calls to the losers before the good guys. This isn’t my topic though.

I’ve once witness a woman, under 100lbs, being beaten senseless by 3 people. When the girl was done with her the two boys began pouncing off of her chest. I knew this woman, but even watching this happen right in front of me, I froze and did nothing about it. It wasn’t the whole “Uhm, what just happened?” it was the three years of wishing someone would just smack this woman in the face to get her to change her ways. I don’t know if it was my wishes that brought this on, even though she’s the one who was running her mouth to even start the fight, but I don’t regret not helping her either.

Call me cruel, but if you actually met this woman you’d feel as though she’d deserved every single ounce of this beating. She’s cheated on her husband, left her children by themselves for days on end with no food in the house because she was too busy with her alcoholic boyfriend, being an alcoholic herself she was never able to take the blame for anything she did and she swore she could get away with murder. She talked her way out of tickets when it came to DWI but that’s because she was the little woman in the slutty clothing and managed to weasel her way out of it. The only documented tickets for anything DWI and DUI a like were based on women pulling her over who were smart enough to not care about the outfit but get the ass hole behind the wheel put in jail. She then used her ex-husband to keep her out of jail. Is it wrong that I feel she deserves to be there for at least a year? She’d be sober and after she’s beaten down a few more times from the long-timers, then maybe she’ll smarten up a bit.

What happened next is kind of strange though, this is continuing with the “you bring it upon yourself” stuff. I haven’t ever been effected by this in regards to karma, maybe I’m pending on the list – who knows. The people who beat her down, however, one was shot in the chest and killed almost instantly. The other was sent to jail on other charges, not even in relation to this one because the police claim that she was too drunk to know for sure that she was actually beaten up. The third killed for drug money. I just find it strange that (in my head at least) somehow managed to merge these four people together to the point of them officially getting what they all deserved in the end.

Does this make me a medium for karma or something? Or was it just plain luck?

Three drug bastards off the streets and a drunken whore completely out of my life. I’d say that worked in my favor.

Sex Offender “Too Short” for Prison

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I spend quite a bit of time watching the news. It’s mainly for the fact that I like to stay on top of current events but it’s also based on the fact that there’s nothing good on television anymore. I was watching CNN last night, maybe even MSNBC, because lord knows there’s enough news channels. I came across a story that not only disturbed me, but pissed me off to absolutely no end.

Judge rules sex offender is too short for prison
SIDNEY, Neb. – A judge said a 5-foot-1 man convicted of sexually assaulting a child was too small to survive in prison, and gave him 10 years of probation instead.

This man was charged on six documented counts of sexually assaulting a 13 year-old girl. He’s 52 years old and yes, 5 foot 1 inches tall. The judge then went on to state “I shudder to think of what would happen to you in prison”.

Uhm…HELLO!? He raped a 13 year-old girl, on multiple accounts and just because there are only 6 documented doesn’t mean there weren’t more behind it. I really could care less about how short he is, if you lack enough of a brain to drag your 52 year-old ass over to a 13 year-old girl then you deserve to be in jail with the rest of your kind – burdens on society.

His crimes deserved a long sentence, District Judge Kristine Cecava said, but she worried that Richard W. Thompson, 50, would be especially imperiled by prison dangers.

“You are a sex offender, and you did it to a child,” she said. “That doesn’t make you a hunter. You do not fit in that category.”

He’s not a hunter? He raped a fucking child and he’s not a hunter? Based on other reports that I’ve read, this girl is extremely messed up because of these acts. Knowing that this poor child is scarred for life, how does this not make him a damn hunter?

Another thing that burns me – because yes, this story continues.

Thompson will be electronically monitored the first four months of his probation, and he was told to never be alone with someone under age 18 or date or live with a woman whose children were under 18. Cecava also ordered Thompson to get rid of his pornography. He faces 30 days of jail each year of his probation unless he follows its conditions closely.

And the kicker:

“I want control of you until I know you have integrated change into your life,” the judge told Thompson. “I truly hope that my bet on you being OK out in society is not misplaced.”

You can easily have fucking control over a person if you put them in jail where they belong. Do the crime, pay the fucking time!

A live-vote on msnbc.com (where the bulk of this article came from) has a poll up with the question:

“Do you agree this man should be kept out of prison?”

There are currently 72,656 responses to this poll. 3% of them said “Yes, the judge still gave the defendant sufficient punishment”. The people with a brain – 97% – said that “No, being small does not make a person exempt from jail.”

How exactly is 10 years of probation considered a sufficient punishment? This judge is almost as fucking stupid as the one who keeps letting Paris out of jail. Oh sure, she’s on probation in a multi million dollar home with her fluffy pillows and maid service – I swear she’s really being punished!

Probation means shit, send him to jail to be raped the same way he took advantage of that girl.

What do you think? Should he be in jail or is probation enough?

What is Gotu Kola?

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

I’ve been keeping myself some what busy for the last few hours. I’m still not feeling that great but there’s not much that I can really do about that. Sure, I could just go back to sleep but at this point I’m averaging about 12 hours a night which makes no sense to me, really. I want to assume that it’s my body officially crashing due to all of the late-night-no-sleepers that I’ve been doing over the years, I just don’t know how to get myself to stop it.

Sean recently found something called like “Gotu Kola” that’s supposed to be a natural herbal supplement. He’s insisting that I take one because he supposedly feels better because of the product. Doing some research into it it’s been used for wound healing, better circulation, memory enhancement, cancer, vitality, general tonic, respiratory ailments, detoxifying the body, treatment of skin disorders (such as psoriasis and eczema), revitalizing connective tissue, burn and scar treatment, clearing skin infections, strengthening veins, blood purifier, high blood pressure, sedative, anti-stress, anti-anxiety, an aphrodisiac, immune booster, anabolic and adaptogen.

Basically it’s just an all-in-one herb that’ll make you feel better, I thought they called that Marijuana? None of the claims have been evaluated by the FDA but the research done by various institutes and universities conclude that more research on the herb wouldn’t be a bad idea. It’s been used for centuries (supposedly) and is still used today, for that reason there has to be SOME truth to the anecdotal claims made in behalf of this herb. It’s supposedly in the same class as apple cider vinegar – something Karen has been dipping into for her own health.

It’s listed as a dietary supplement at GNC, where Sean got it, and some nausea has been reported at high levels of intake. Either way I’m not fond of taking any over-the-counter pills to ‘help me out’. When I asked him for the bottle so I could get the spelling correct his eyes lit up before he asked if I was going to take one. I don’t see myself personally having anything to do with this product, or anything else that’s supposed to ‘fix me naturally’.

Would you actually take this product?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a plan of action behind everything that’s been going on over the course of the last few weeks. I know for sure that I’m going to AIU Online to get my Bachelors, I also know that instead of spending $19,000 at AIU to get the Associates required for the Bachelors, I’m just going to go to Penn Foster so that’s all taken care of sooner than later. I know I need $850 a semester for Penn Foster and the AIU Online based schooling is going to cost me in the area of $32,000 – this is why you’ve seen me posting so frequently with paid posts. I have multiple domains running on paid posting now and hope to have a few more over the course of the next couple of months, once I can get those stats up at least. From there I’m also going to be continuing with design work, working on getting scholarships and then basically anything else I can get my hands on and place in the bank.

My question is for those whom have actually received scholarships, so listen up heh.

When you get a scholarship and the check is cashed and sitting in your bank account – is there a time limit that you have before the scholarship is null and void or could you leave it there until you have full funding ready for tuition? Say that you have a $15,000 scholarship, it’s rare – I know – but work with me here. You cash the check to your bank account and then you have it sitting there until you can get the remaining $17,000 balance towards the full tuition. Is there a set time frame for actually spending the money OR once it’s yours – it’s yours?

A rather uncomfortable conversation

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

I have no doubt in my mind that this is a topic that most people dread to even think about but what some people don’t realize is the importance behind having some kind of a life insurance policy. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, anything could happen to you between right now and tomorrow that is 100% life changing. A few years back I looked into Affordable Life Insurance Quotes and did manage to get myself onto a plan where I pay a small amount of money each month to buy into my current $30,000 plan, naturally over the years this number will go up but I also know for sure that if something where to, god forbid, happen to me I know that my family is taken care of. Even if it’s only enough to cover funeral expenses, pay off an outstanding balance and cover any hospital fees – I know that nothing is going to be taken out of their own pockets for this.

My father has a life insurance policy, somewhere in the $80,000 range. He has one out on both my sister and myself. He’s also fully paid for his entire funeral, a conversation that I did not wish to have with the man considering we were at the breakfast table. This is a conversation that could at least have waited a few more hours so I didn’t dwell on it for the entire day, most parents don’t seem to understand that concept. His theory, however, “It doesn’t matter how or when I die, I don’t care what kind of a box I’m in or where I’m buried. Don’t say ‘he would have liked that’, I’m dead – I don’t care what things look like!” I was taken back by this, but I can understand where he’s coming from. Some people treat funerals as though they were weddings where they go crazy with flowers, music, dressing things up that don’t really need any dressing up. My father, being so set in his ways, would be happy in a pine box in the back yard with a few chairs setup. Naturally this isn’t how it’s going to happen but again – he’s dead, he doesn’t care anyway. God I hated that conversation with him.

But anyway, back to my original point. Having a life insurance policy could be good for all of those involved. It shows that you’re fully accepting the fact that you’re moving on and not leaving excess weight on the shoulders of your loved-ones after you pass on. My father claims he did it to prove that he can and will do anything for his girls, and considering I’ve taken a policy out on myself, as well, I know that I’m also going to be doing it for my loved ones.

I’d love to live here!

Hawiian Beach Rentals - Cove For many years I’ve wondered just what it would take for me to get to Hawaii. I believe the entire state is gorgeous and couldn’t understand why people could find frustration with the palm trees, clean sandy beaches and gorgeous blue water, minus the fact that a few sun-burns are forming at this very moment. For many years I’ve been interested in learning more about Hawaiian Beach Rentals because I would truly love to spend some much needed R&R on their gorgeous chunk of land. The homes are beautiful, the cultures down there are a whole mix of beauty that only locals can seem to understand and even from there.

As you can tell by the image above, the place is nothing more than spectacular, with a view like this – how could you NOT find something to love about Hawaii. I looked into some pricing on the big island hawaii luxury homes and while I find them to be a tad bit on the expensive side, I also know that if I did actually have that kind of money, I’d be there in a heart beat.

So you tell me, if you had the money to live in Hawaii and were only basing it on the image above – would you?

What’s on your head?

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Since I’ve been spending more time in the office, to void myself of feelings of rage towards the constant sniffling, sneezing and coughing that is allergy-ridden-Sean, I’ve been wearing my headphones quite a bit to keep the background noise at bay. Originally I’d given this pair to Sean and while they were in perfect condition that first day, they don’t seem to be that great now. Granted they could have been damaged during their time being shipped down here. I gave him my other headphones. He feels important having a microphone on his head but the head-phones themselves give off some fairly great sound quality so either way he wins.

The ones I’m using now, however, don’t really sit right on my head and although they’re padded, there are pressure points making them rather uncomfortable for long periods of time. In my quest to find a more comfortable pair, I went to my usual hot-spots. TigerDirect, Microcenter, CompUSA, Best Buy and eventually Newegg.com, little did I know, a surf through Google would target me to a pair on Amazon that’s close to perfect, for both me and Sean actually.

He claims it’s the wires wrapping themselves around things, minus the fact that he’s clutzy sometimes and doesn’t pay much attention to what’s going on around him. The pair I found are only about $55 and they’re wireless – which makes everyone happy. They come with a dock that recharges them while they aren’t in use and that to me means money-saved on batteries. The headphones themselves, found here, are given a 4 out of 5 rating by one user. He explained the pros and cons of them but based on the fact that they’ll basically be hooked in through my iPod, I don’t care too much about a light potential hiss. I’m just not sure how they’re going to work with the subwoofer and speakers that I gave to Sean. I’m not quite sure how you can plug this thing into a head-phone jack but I’m pretty sure that I’ll find that out when they get here.

I’m still shopping around but for now I guess these will go on my possibilities list. Has anyone got a pair of wireless headphones that they’d strongly recommend? I’d love to hear your reaction – I’m not looking to spend anything over $100 at this point but if you’re convincing enough…I just might.

What is Colloidal Silver?

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

When I come across new and fairly-interesting information, safe or not, I like to share it with others. Recently I came across an article in regards to colloidal silver. I had to do some research into it because I personally had no idea what it was even for. It’s true definition means the colloid of silver particles in water. It has an antimicrobial property and was, in the past, used on external wounds and burns to prevent infection. Some alternative-health practitioners claim that it is a beneficial nutritional supplement, others claim that it’s a powerful antibiotic which is relatively safe for human consumption. The intake of some silver products in larger quantities over long periods of time have caused argyria, which is a blue/gray skin condition which is otherwise benign. At proper dosage levels, however, the risk for argyria is almost nil.

So without all the mumbo-jumbo listed above. How can colloidal silver seriously work for you? Using it as an antibiotic can be an alternative to most medicines. I personally can not take most antibiotics because they contain levels of fish-oil that would more than likely worsen my immune system while the so-called-helper-pill is fixing infection. Having an alternative is great and all, but at what cost? If I take too much my skin will change color, if I don’t take enough it won’t do anything for me.

Based on the information I’ve found on this product, however, it’s commonly used in dietary supplements. Would you put silver in your body to aid weight loss if there was actually documented studies of it working for you? Has anyone ever heard of colloidal silver? What do you think it can do for you? I’d love to hear your response.

Using blog ideas.

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

I’ve decided that since I’m building a database of blog ideas, I may as well use a couple of them to my advantage. One of the ever-so-funky questions would have to be “Why do tornadoes love to hit trailer parks?”

This may seem like a stupid, let alone offensive question, but it seriously is the truth. With the weather change there have been tornadoes popping up left and right, some hitting area’s that aren’t typically even effected by them. The key thing, however, is most of them actually land right on trailer parks or just mobile home communities in general. I can’t tell you how many red-necks I’ve seen standing in front of a pile of rubble with a southern accent claiming they’s-losts-evrythang.

It’s not as if there’s some kind of magnetic pull that attracts these tornadoes to trailer parks, so what exactly could it be? I’m sure you could come up with a reasonable answer – so what do you think?

Running out of ideas!

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

As some of you may, or may not know, I’m working on a new domain: blog-ideas.net. It’s going to house blog topic ideas, blog templates, blog resources, etc. I have a list of blog ideas but it’s no where near where I wanted it to be. If you happen to have any weblog topic ideas, I’d love to hear them.?Ǭ† They can be the simple run of the mill “What’s your favorite ____” kind of questions or they can be completely off the wall questions like “Pickles, Friend or Foe?” be creative. My creativity is slowly starting to subside but I think that’s based on the fact that I’ve spent so much time in the house for the last week. I really need to get myself down to the beach!
