Dying

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

It may only be about 60?Ǭ? but it’s humid as a bitch outside right now. We’ve got the air conditioner on in hopes to cool the place down a bit. :: crosses fingers ::

Baby and I just got back from walking Bella. Thanks to all of the rainfall over the last 24 hours, everything is flooded so she’s soaked to the bone. I really do need to get her to the groomer as soon as possible. I held her down tonight to trim around her eyes so you could actually see her face again. Unfortunately she still looks rather scruffy so it’s about time I get her shaved for the summer. I figured if I could find someone down here that wouldn’t mess her up, the way many groomers have in the past, I’ll get her done every couple of months so that she doesn’t have to go a long period of time with a lot of hair on her. It’ll also help with upkeep considering she hasn’t been feeling well lately and it’s a hassle to wipe her butt down every time she goes outside to poop.

While I did accomplish a lot today, I didn’t get to complete everything I set out to do. I’m actually going to be turning in for the night because I’m exhausted and Baby and I are going to the beach around 5:30. So I’m going to take a quick 2 hour cat-nap just to give myself some energy, then once I get home from the beach…I’m just going to go to bed for the rest of the morning. I don’t particularly like doing that but for the sake of a sun-rise or just a massive high tide (since the storm is over the Atlantic Ocean right now) I figure that’s going to be worth it in the end anyway.

I’m going to finish up a quick email check and then head off.

Night all.

You’re kidding me … right?

Friday, April 27th, 2007

So the ‘massive storm’ was nothing more than a dud. I really hope something hits around here soon or I’m going to go back up to New York where everything seems to be. I just saw something on the news a little while ago about the Long Island Expressway getting bombarded, that’s the kind of weather I love.

It’s mainly been raining on and off here, so a few sounds of thunder got me excited, that left as quickly as it came though. The lady next door, however, has no driveway. There’s no real drainage systems around here and her driveway kind of has a dip at the end of it that holds water in excess, she had to walk through a massive puddle (that started from the middle of the street and ended half way up her driveway) in order for her to get to her car. I swear I’m going to write a letter to the land owner to find out just where his $400,000 a year income (per community, he owns like 5) is being used because this is beyond absurd.

So instead of being outside today, I’m inside with the TV on in the background. Oprah pisses me off so I’m not even going to bother watching her. Judge Judy isn’t on yet, and I LOATH Dr. Phil so I’m not even gonna go there. Time to surf through channels to put something decent on in the background. Oprah’s doing some eligible bachelors thing on her show today, there’s like 60 guys or something on stage at the moment, none of which look even remotely appealing…go figure. Since when is her lesbian lover her new co-host?

MmMmm Coffee…

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Considering it’s after 10, that’s usually when things around the house are being wrapped up and prepared for tomorrow. Now, while I know for sure that I’ll be up pretty late tonight, the smell of tomorrow mornings coffee is effecting me already. I just threw some in the brewer, set the timer, and now the coffee grinds have sent this wonderful aroma around the house to the point that I’m drooling over it.

There’s a way around this though, don’t get me wrong. High tide is around 2AM this morning, I just informed baby of this because I’d like to go. We didn’t go out last night because I know he had a lot of work to do, yesterday morning we didn’t get home until around 10AM because we watched the sun rise and then spent some time on the beach and eventually having dinner at a mom and pop shop on the boardwalk, so it was a fairly productive morning – that’s for sure.

We’ve been doing A LOT of walking lately. My legs still hurt from three days ago but we still manage to get in at least two miles a night when we go to the beach (the boardwalk is exactly one mile, end to end). Last night we took about a mile and a half around the complex since Bella had to be brought out for her nightly walk anyway. All -in- All we’ve been keeping ourselves at a good pace and hopefully something good can come of it over time.

I’m sure we’ll burn off a bit more over the course of the next couple weeks. It’s getting so warm down here that you sweat just lifting your arms up. I have no doubt in my mind that just walking in the weather will really cut a lot down as well.

It’s pushing 10:30, I think I’m going to go bother him now. It’s been 20 minutes 🙂

It’s Gorgeous!

Friday, April 20th, 2007

It’s a beautiful day here in Delmarva. It’s around 65?Ǭ?F (18?Ǭ?C). I know it may not seem that high to many people but I find anything over 70?Ǭ?F (21?Ǭ?C) to be offensive. The sun’s shining and as baby put it, this is ‘no pants wearing weather’. He’s dumb about it because anytime it’s warm he goes out of his way to say that his pants are coming off. When he first started saying it I thought it was kind of absurd until I realized he’d be changing to shorts. Hopefully he’ll change to shorts more often because he’s a little too pale for his own good. I fully intend to have a beautiful tan this summer and he won’t be spared of the sun light as long as I’m around.

Last night was spent at the beach – surprise, surprise – but it was different this time. There was a high warning for beach erosion and when I’d first heard that, I didn’t really take it seriously. Little did I know that when we got there, the beach would be under water. The waves that normally broke about 80 feet away from the boardwalk, were now not even 10 feet away from the boardwalk. I think the smallest wave was like 12 feet high, so you can imagine how much fun that was to watch. I’m twisted, I admit to it. I like big storms. I like when Mother Nature just throws herself out there with full force, makes for a lot of fun if you’re into Weather changes the way I am.

I’ve got a fairly busy day of work ahead of me, I guess I should get on that.

Sluggish

Monday, April 16th, 2007

It’s been a pretty sluggish day. I’ve been working hard on returning comments (I’m very backed up). I stopped for a little bit to spend some quality time with the boyfriend and then took a much-needed shower. I don’t know if it’s the weather, or what, but even though I took a shower before I went to sleep last night, I woke up feeling absolutely disgusting for some reason.

I went to the beach with Baby last night before we went to bed. I know it was probably a stupid choice considering it was pouring but the waves were in the 10-12FT (4 Meters) range so I absolutely HAD to be on the beach to watch them. We stopped for our usual coffee at 7-11. The guy who works the over-night knows me pretty well at this point. He knows exactly what to give me once I get up to the register with my coffee and I have to love having someone like that serving me. I consider him to be my buddy, even though I don’t know his name – LOL.

Right now I’m flipping through channels and listening to all three dogs snore their little faces off. The three of them are under 20lbs (each) and manage to make more noise than baby does when he’s asleep and he can snore up a storm. I’ll just put my ear-plugs back in, there’s really nothing on TV anyway…there never usually is in the afternoon that’s of interest to me.

The flood-warning is still in effect for Kent and Sussex counties, a lot of rain has dropped on us. I know NY is getting it pretty bad right now but I’m not up there, I’m down here, so HMPH! Maybe I’ll bother Sean a bit and see how things are going in Rehoboth, he’s right on the water…must be NICE!

Productivity is Me!

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

Minus the fact that I’ve been a little under the weather, it’s been a fairly productive weekend. Baby and I took a quick trip to Dover yesterday. We had to pick up a Vacuum from Best Buy and then wound up at the Dover Mall to do some quick shopping. Considering I’m basically saving every dime I can for my trip to Atlantic City in May, it was killing me not to do any shopping at Boscovs, Sears, Target and even Best Buy (even though that’s Baby’s department lol).

I’m done unpacking, it’s been a bitch getting everything situated but so-far, so good. There’s a little bit of an issue with my desktop though, I thought I could just plug in my old graphics card but I need a PCI-E card, which I don’t have. I did some surfing on TigerDirect and other sites, after pricing I figure I can get a decent card in the $100 range. I’ll worry about that later on down the road though. I can handle the current card for a while considering I still seem to use my laptop for everything anyway. It’s hard to convert back to a desktop when you’ve been using a laptop for so long. Having a ‘server’ type thing setup for file storage is nice though…heh.

I’m not yet done with my email checks, I know there’s a few multi-emails (some urgent) from the same people that I’ve yet to respond to but I hope to have that done tonight. I’ve been running around the house most of the day. I did some baking because the batter just happened to be there. I cleaned most of the kitchen, there’s still a bit to organize on the island but that’s mainly mail and I don’t really have to worry about it too much. Right now I’m taking a short break before I get around to finishing everything else around the house.

I know it’s a little early but I started on the May template. I figured there’s no way I’ll be able to trump this April theme so it’s my goal to play with CSS quite a bit more and come up with something interesting. I did some surfing around today through template sites and threw together some ideas. I’m sure I’ll come up with something. It’s hard to be creative when you’re so drained from things going on. Thank god I have a vacation coming up soon and the 15 hour days for the next month will be worth it.

It’s been a pretty nasty day. There’s a supposed “Nor-easter” hanging over Delmarva. I know there were some tornado watches in Virginia and upstate NY (poor guys) are looking at quite a bit of snow fall. So much for enjoying April, eh?

In any event, I guess I should go finish up what I started. I just sent Baby out to get some dinner so it’d be nice to eat on a clean dining table…right? heh.

Oy…

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I’m finally moved in. It was pretty difficult packing everything up but I was able to get everything done in the 2 ?Ǭ? days that I had, with loads of help from the boyfriend. There’s still one box to be unpacked but there’s nothing that I can really do about that until after the office has been rearranged. I basically took everything with me, I did leave a few things in New York but for the most part I have everything I need. I’m sure when I go up to NY in June I’ll be able to get the rest of my things.

I have my desktop setup, I finally activated Windows. It’s strange being on a standard screen considering I’ve been used to my wide screen laptop for the last year. I’m still getting used to having a regular keyboard too…no more quiet key for me :sigh: I’m sure I’ll be driving myself crazy soon considering how sensitive my hearing is at this altitude.?Ǭ† It’s also strange seeing all of the pixels that I haven’t seen in a while. I’m sure I’m going to have to change out the graphics card though. Right now it’s set on the default motherboard graphics. I have my old graphics card from my last desktop, I know it still works, so I’ll move that in here the next chance I get. For now, I’m not overly concerned about it considering I still intend to do all of the major work on my laptop anyway.

I’m way behind on emails so I guess I’ll get my butt in gear on those. I have some work to do as well, hopefully that’ll go smoothly and I’ll be able to get to bed soon, I’m beat.

Shopping and Packing and Nerves…oh my!

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

We left here around 5:30 to head down to Georgetown and visit the oh-so-wonderful DMV. It actually went pretty quick, I think we were only there for about 20 minutes or so. That’s probably the shortest possible wait FOR a DMV. Every time I’ve gone to one in New York it’s taken at least 2 hours before you could even get to a teller, let alone leave.

After the trip we wound up at Wal-Mart getting some much-needed shopping done. I picked up some sandals because I’m getting sick of emptying sand out of my shoes when I go to the beach at night. I also loaded up on some more space bags. I should hopefully be set to go when I get up to New York as far as packing is concerned. Once I have my desktop I’m going to have to wipe out my hard drive on the laptop. I don’t really like the idea of having to do it but after a year of usage, plus almost killing it with disk-space usage before I got the external hard drive, there’s really no choice in the matter. I know for sure that I’m going to have to back up all of my fonts before I even consider wiping it out, thanks to font websites I’ve built up a database of over 3,000 fonts to keep my Photoshop looking spiffy. It would seriously suck to lose them all in the transfer.

Besides backing up fonts, I know that all programs (with no backup) and client files have to be moved to the external as well. A BIG move is Thunderbird because I honestly can’t afford to lose all my email. I’ve been working way too hard over the last few months in order to lose them. I just hope everything goes as planned.

I’m a tad-bit concerned about the reinstall though. The desktop was purchased without an operating system and since I paid for Windows with my laptop, I used the serial number from the laptop. Based on how I know Microsoft operates, I’m sure the serial number is now in their database as ‘used’ and I’ll have to make a phone call just to get it unlocked. I did pay for Windows either way, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. It’s not like I’m handing the disk out to friends, you know?

Bella is currently digging into my leg for attention so I guess I better take care of that before I get back to work. I’m about 4 hours behind at the moment and need to make that up before I go to sleep. I’m really getting sick of running on 4 hours of sleep (at most) these days. I wish I could just crash for 8 hours like normal people and enjoy the time in my dream world. Maybe after things settle down once I get the rest of my things down here, I’ll be able to relax a little bit more.

Something to look forward to…right?

Just a busy day!

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

I was finally able to fall asleep around 6:30 this morning. I literally stared at the ceiling for an hour after I crawled into bed. I was then woken up about 11:30 this morning by a very loud crack of thunder, a scared dog and a boyfriend wanting to let me know that there’s a storm outside (if I hadn’t already heard it).

Within two seconds of him opening the door I felt another dog hop up on the bed, Princess was scared and hiding in the office under my desk. Now she’s sleeping next to me and doesn’t seem to want to leave the room for anything. The storm’s been done for the last few hours, it’s about 3 so you can imagine how much fun it’s been.

I watched TV for a little while, it’s nice to just be able to relax in bed for a little bit before you start work. While flipping through channels I came across that movie “Good Burger” with Keenan & Kel, I haven’t seen it in years so I figured I’d just leave it on and go from there. It’s the typical Nickelodeon kind of movie but it was also kind of amusing considering I’d just woken up. Usually when dealing that kind of stupidity just as I get out of bed really bothers me but I assume today was an exception.

I got quite a bit of work done, I sent out a few emails and now I’m sitting here watching MPT because they have a block of shows dubbed “Afternoon Tea” it’s all English comedy that keeps me pretty entertained. I’m seriously a sucker for “Are you being served?” it’s probably one of my favorite shows at the moment. I know it’s been almost 30 years since the show went off the air but it’s worth it.

I’m home alone at the moment. Baby went out to run some errands, I need to take a shower because we’re going out around six to get some other things done. We need to drive down to Georgetown to go to the DMV and on the way home we’re going to head to the Super Wal-Mart and do some shopping. They have cheaper meat there considering Wal-Mart is part of Sam’s Club. Since we’ve been doing so much barbecuing lately there’s really no choice in the matter but to load up on things.

It’s now 3 days before we load into the car and head up to New York, I’m kind of nervous because I haven’t been home in a long time and the only reason for my going up there is to basically pack up the rest of my things and say goodbye to everything I’ve ever known. It’s not like I’m never going back to NY, that’s not the issue. I’ll be back up in June for Dad’s birthday, November & December for holidays and maybe just random trips up to visit. I told Dad that if he was going to Atlantic City or something to let me know. I’m only about a half hour away from it so it’s not like it would be hard to get there for a visit.

I have a lot of shit to do up in NY though, it’s literally going to take me the whole weekend. I have to go through twenty-two years worth of things and compact it down to just a few boxes and space bags. I don’t want to leave things up there that I use regularly so those will be easy to pick out. I know I have to do a lot of junk-clean outs though. I admit to being a pack rat when it comes to sentimental value but I know that I can handle working that out. But once everything is loaded into the van I have to stop at WAMU and close my bank account because there isn’t one down here, then I have to head to the post office and forward all of my mail. Once I get back down here I’ll probably go to either PNC or even Wilmington Trust and open a bank account. Both banks are not even two minutes away from where I am so I’m not too concerned about location, that’s really the only reason I went with WAMU in the first place – it was a hop, skip and a jump away from my house.

I need to finish making my ‘packing’ list and then get myself in the shower, guess it’s time to head off now.

The Weather Channel LIES!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I keep the Weather Channel on in the background when everyone is asleep at night. They’ve got some cool shows on there like “Storm Stories” and other things like that. I was told that the local weather for today would be partly cloudy and around 65?Ǭ?F (18?Ǭ?C). I don’t find that to be that warm, it’s kind of the weather I prefer…so I went to bed pretty content.

That content feeling changed the moment I woke up this morning. I was sweating bullets, something all girls absolutely HATE to do. I wondered why it was so hot in the house…the heat wasn’t on so that couldn’t have possibly played a roll. The windows were open all around the house so of course it should have kept things cool. I guess I was wrong.

I walk outside to have my usual morning cigarette and I’m hit with about 80?Ǭ? worth of PURE HEAT. How the HELL did this happen? Fans, cold drinks and taking it easy aren’t working very well for me. I don’t do well in heat, not many fat people do, I’m tempted to head to the beach and dive in.

Hair Help!

Monday, March 26th, 2007

I need help from anyone living in the Southern Delmarva area.

Since I’m fairly new down here, I’m still getting accustomed to where things are. I know I need to head to Georgetown, DE in order to go to the Super Wal-mart to save some money. I know to be in Rehoboth Beach in order to do a shit-load of shipping at 200+ Outlet stores. I know Ocean City, MD is the place to be if you’re looking for a lot of fun, boardwalk fries and real Italian pizza. I don’t know how you Delmarva natives can say that Grotto’s is GOOD PIZZA. Go to New Jersey, hell…take a road trip to Brooklyn…eat a real slice, will you?

I also know that Ocean City is NOT the place to be during the summer with all of the tourists. Baby wants to go down there for the 4th of July because of some massive fireworks show but I don’t really want to deal with the excess of people so I’ll stick to where I am and watch CW or something for their coverage of whatever local big fireworks show is down here.

The only thing I do not know about ANYTHING down here is in regards to grooming…me and Bella a like.

I’m in desperate need of a hair cut, as is Bella. I know that Rehoboth Beach is FILLED with Gay men but after asking around I’ve found out that hardly any of them know JACK SHIT about cutting hair, so I obviously can’t stop into a salon there while shopping. I’ve decided that maybe I should head north towards New Jersey, or completely south into Maryland.

I need to know where I can get my hair done that isn’t going to make me look like a poodle. I also need to know where I can get Bella done so she doesn’t look like a poodle either, the guy around the corner literally cuts all of the dogs the exact same way and I have no idea where to go.

Help me out! Where do you get your hair done? Do you recommend them? How are their colorists? (I’m LOADED with Grey). What’s their price range?

What about your furry friends? What groomer would you recommend, what’s their price range?

Any help would be great, I’m willing to travel so it shouldn’t be a big deal as to where it is. BUT I’d like to stay more in DE and MD because that’s easier for me considering I’m smack dab in the middle at the moment.

Leave me alone!

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

I was trying to keep quiet about this for as long as I could but it’s beyond annoying at this point. I don’t care that I was nominated for awards that I want nothing to do with. Please stop spamming my comments telling me that you either voted for me or I should be notified that my name is even listed, this is why all comments are moderated. I’ve already commented about it on the awards website and I’ve left it at that. Please leave me alone about it, vote for someone who actually deserves the awards they’re listed for, no matter what the category may be.

Moving along…

Baby and I went out to dinner tonight and then did some grocery shopping for the week. It’s raining pretty hard at the moment and we’re expecting around 2-3″ of rainfall from now until Friday evening. The car-shopping plans have changed to Monday. Unfortunately his mother gets out of work at 3PM and the dealership closes at 5PM. Considering the ferry is an hour and a half, then there’s about a two hour drive on top of that – it’s not worth going on Saturday to a closed dealer. Originally I thought it would be a waste to do all of the driving to New Jersey just to spend extra money on taxes but you pay the tax to where the car is registered, not where it’s purchased. This is pretty good to know, you learn something new every day.

I logged into my News12 Long Island account to see what was going on back in NY, I usually log in once a day so I can keep up to date on things. I see that there’s a massive storm warning for the island, quite a bit of snow in the forecast. Meanwhile, I’m sitting down in Delmarva enjoying the 70+?Ǭ?F(21?Ǭ?C) weather….what ever shall I do? ::ha!::

While it is raining outside, we’re planning to go down to the beach. Based on the news there’s an anticipated 9′-11′ waves because of the storm. I’d honestly love to see that. I need to find an umbrella so I don’t get totally washed away.

In any event, I need to get my butt in gear on some hosting forms. I’m about 6 hours behind on a few of them.

Later gators.
