Craptastic

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

My weekend was rather uneventful. I was sick for a big part of it, I still feel like crap now but at least it’s better than a few days ago.

Miffed
My table was to arrive yesterday; it didn’t get here on Saturday so I assumed Monday considering it was waiting at the UPS warehouse in Uniondale. I was giddy when UPS pulled up; I knew that the porch would finally begin to take shape, when the trucker moved his way up the stairs I was instantly disappointed. Kmart fucked up my order and sent me an Adirondack chair. I refused the order, called Kmart and asked what went wrong. When the chair gets back to Kmart’s warehouse I’ll be refunded for my order. I ordered the table again though, this time it was about $7 less than the previous order (thanks to Memorial Day sales). The new table is currently in route to my house, the shipping status hasn’t updated so who knows when it will get here. The thing I hate about UPS is they don’t give you an estimated arrival time, you basically have to wait for the status to say “Out for delivery”. FedEx gives you an arrival date, as well as the begin shipping date.

And speaking of FedEx…My laptop is on its way. The estimated ship date was the 25th but I got lucky and they shipped it out this morning. It’s coming from China though, and according to FedEx it will be here on Friday (May 26) at about 10:30 AM. I’m a little confused though, I’ve never heard of 3 day shipping from China, unless its being sent priority mail, something I didn’t pay for.

So either way, I’m going to assume that on Friday the table and the laptop will be here. I’m giving that a ‘general’ assumption though because I know something?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s going to happen to make the wait longer.

Patio
I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and picked up six chairs for the patio. I also made a quick stop to Path Mark Supermarket and picked up chair cushions. I didn’t get the ones from Wal-Mart because they were like $6 each and very ugly. The ones at the supermarket were $2.50 and rather cute. They fit on the chairs nicely and I’ve basically spent the last day outside enjoying them. I just can’t wait until everything comes together.

Weather = SUCKS
The weather lately has been so extremely annoying it’s unreal. I enjoyed the week of rain, I really did. I dislike all of the left over wind though. I don’t mind a nice cool breeze but when it’s gusts of wind maxing out at 35-40 MPH then it’s just uncalled for. I can’t wait until it stops being so damn gusty. Again, a nice little breeze is fine but Bella being blown over while she’s trying to balance so she can pee – is just not kosher.

Cleanliness in Krissyville
I went on a total cleaning spree this morning. My room (although fairly clean) is more like an organized mess that was driving me crazy. I’ve cleaned off my desk, I re-cleaned my closet too. I know I cleaned it out last week but I haven’t done my laundry in a week (before this morning) so there’s a lot of clothes that need to go back in there. I also cleaned out the section near my air conditioner, this way it’s one clean shot to get it out of there in a few weeks when it gets warm enough to have to put it in. It’ll only be used at night because I can totally see myself being either outside or in the living room for quite some time. I’m sure I’ll relax in bed watching TV and getting some work done but that’s at night and that’s just easier to deal with. I vacuumed, I cleaned out the kitchen and I even did some sweeping on the porch, not that it mattered considering all the damn wind put most of it back :grrr:

Computerness
I did some major cleaning out today. I got rid of about 10gigs of crap files off my computer. I burned all of my archived clients to CDs and I got rid of things I’ve been meaning to move for quite some time. I have two zip disks filled and ready to transfer over to the laptop as soon as I’m situated there. I’ve already setup the new router; it’s working like a charm. At least I think it is. The ports are fine, I’m just not sure about the wireless. The line is password protected so I don’t have to worry about someone tapping into my connection. I’ve opened up the “Shared” folders on this computer (with a password of course) so that I’m able to go back and forth and get the important files. It’s a hassle saving everything to a disk and then reloading, it’s called a NETWORK for a reason damn it.

In conclusion
I know I’m behind on all of my comment sites, but I’ve also placed myself on hiatus with them so I don’t have to deal with that right now. I don’t mind the sites but sometimes when I have to visit some teeny-bopper “Lyke…OMG!” blog it makes me want to put my fist through the screen. I’ll get around to the emails in my box when I get the energy to do it. I’ll also return the comments here when I get that energy as well. For now though, I’m going to find myself something to make for dinner and then relax in front of the TV for a little while.

Laptop city man!

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

I’ve been working my ass off all week. I was paid by that client, and I ordered my laptop this morning. It’s kind of funny, I’ve been waiting to have all the money together and when I finally do – I just let it sit there for a day while I thought about it.

So I logged into HP.com configured my laptop for the very last time and went through with the check out. After all of the thinking I did, I decided to go for the 15.4″ model. I know that I wanted the 17″ and part of me still does, but financially I’d prefer the 15.4″, a few years down the road I can always get myself a new laptop. For now, however, this one is exactly what I need it to be.

DV5000z
– Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition with SP2
– AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-34 (1.8GHz/1MB L2 Cache)
– FREE Upgrade to 15.4″ WXGA BrightView Widescreen!!
– 128MB ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory(TM)
– 1.0GB DDR SDRAM (2x512MB)
– 80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
– DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
– 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
– 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
– Microsoft(R) Works/Money
—————————————————–
Total: $1161.19

I know it doesn’t seem like much but I got a good deal on it and its also built like my desktop (only a little bit better). I totally love ♥ coupon codes too! So I’m very, very content and extremely antsy because I can’t wait to get it! The estimated ship date is May 25th, and since there’s a 5-7 business day shipping on it, I’m expecting to receive it sometime around June 1st, at the latest.

Patio Excitement
I ordered my new patio table from K-Mart, it only cost me like $50 which is fine with me considering the size. It’s about the same size as the table I have outside right now and I came up with a wonderful idea that suits my needs, and my wallet.

I’m keeping the current table I have, and then just putting this new one next to it. It’ll be like having one HUGE table and it will make working outside a lot easier. I’m almost positive I’ll have at least one child near me on a daily basis during the summer, so this way they aren’t sitting right on top of me. I’m just going to put a cover on each table and vwallah! I’m going to Wal-Mart on Friday with Alicia and Dave to pick up a few other needed items.

I’m going to get 6 chairs, a bench, and two shades. The chairs will obviously go around the table; the bench will be put off into the corner with a coffee table. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Jen?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s and she wanted to throw it out but I’m going to recycle it considering its holding up well to outdoor use thus far. In a few weeks I’ll get some planters and then all is right with the world. My patio will be complete; I’ll be surrounded by flowers and loads of color, not to mention comfort. I really, really can’t wait!

I usually jump the gun and then things never happen. Knowing damn well that it’s all happening now, that’s just a damn good thing.

In any event, I have to get back to work. Now that I’m done with the corporate account, I have to get my ass in gear with the personal/misc. based accounts. It’s mainly graphics, a few word press templates, but other than that it evens out to about $300 that’s going to go towards the BBQ this summer (Yes Christie, I said it – the BBQ is ON!).

Later all!

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin…

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

I know it’s only been about four days since my last blog, but it’s actually been an eventful week and few things are actually worthy of being written down.

Shopping Fever
I did some shopping on Tuesday, I probably shouldn’t have but it was everything I needed. I poked around Maces with the intent of pricing a few things that I’ll be purchasing in upcoming weeks. The new table that I want to get for the porch will run me about $120; it doesn’t have ANY chairs though, so that was annoying. I honestly thought there would be a better selection. I did found a few nice sets that I’m interested in, but then I’d have to DOUBLE my spending budget for them and I don’t personally see that as something of importance. I think for now I’ll just use the table cloths that I bought off Ebay a few months ago. I’ll do some searching through Wal-Mart, Target and K-Mart before I make my final choice at Maces.

After Maces, I strolled around the mall for a little while. As usual it was extremely uneventful and I was very happy to get in the car and go. I wound up at Wal-Mart, because lets face it, now that K-mart is gone I’ve had to find a new addiction. I got myself some shorts and t-shirts because I really needed them. I don’t have any ‘summer’ clothes. The only shorts I’ve owned up to this point were old pants that I chopped the legs off of. I used to DESTROY all of my old jeans by walking on them, so I’d just cut them at the knee and instant shorts. I’m not too keen on doing that now, so I improvised and got a few pairs of $8 shorts, and a couple $5 tees. I picked up a few toiletries and priced some other items for the patio as well. Their furniture selection kind of sucks, but accessories wise I think I found some good shit.

Living on the second floor is usually good for privacy. However, our patio is wide open. We used to have a huge tree right next to us but the town cut it down so you can basically see everything going on up here. In wanting to fix this, I began searching for ways to cover up the patio without it being a total eyesore. I’ve found some 6’x6′ blinds that are only about $10 each, so if I were to get two of them I could just block off the whole side and not have to worry about anything. I’ve spoken to my dad about it, and he seems interested so I think we’ll take a drive out there this weekend and maybe pick them up.

Referral woe’s
I’m waiting for my 10th referral to go through for the Camera offer, and very patiently at that. This girl has signed up for me TWICE and neither one has been credited. I figured I’d wait a few business days in case there’s some kind of a delay but I’m to a point now that I have no idea if they’re going to even go through at all and I only have until the 30th.

Gratis has updated their prizes though. Instead of an 8megapixel Olympus being their ‘best’ camera, they now have a 9 mega pixel Fuji. I know that considering I’d only be using the images on the web, that having anything more than a 6 mega pixel is unimportant but I’m a bit confused as to which one I’m going to get. I’m leaning towards the 9 mega pixel, not for the quality but because of all that comes with it. There’s only a 16mb flash card, but right now I could order a 1gb card from Microcenter for like $30.00. So I’ll just cross that bridge when I get there.

Work..work…work
I’ve been ASS DEEP in code for the last three days. I swear I’m beginning to dream in PHP. It’s nothing but if-than statements circulating through my mind and it’s driving me bananas. I’ve got about 50% of the work completed, which is great considering I’m ahead of schedule (by 6 days at least). I hope to have everything completed a week earlier than my original due-date. A lot of it is template based, I completed the PHPSurveyor template in 6 hours, he was expecting something like 2 days. I’m slowly working on the Moodle template which I know will take me at least 3 days considering all of the template files that come with it. The client assumes it’s going to take me at least a week. I’m just hoping I’ll be able to exceed his expectations. If I do, this means A LOT of repeat business because I know he’s got about 5 more domains that he needs setup. With all the repeat business I know it’s going to be at least another 4g’s worth of work coming in through him, which is fine and dandy for me.

As far as Source-1 goes, outsourcing is still on hold because a client hasn’t paid up. Once he does pay, the boss told me that some jobs would be coming my way so I’ll have more to put into my car fund as time goes by. All I know is that May is still looking up to be quite a good month, so I’m definitely happy about this.

School
I got my final grades on those essays. I’m graduating with an 89% average, which is fine for me. I’m pissed about my grades though. My Auto-Biography only got a 70% because I didn’t give enough detail. My book report got an 80% because I gave too much detail. :blinks: I wish this damn school would just make up their minds. I can’t get my diploma unless I finish paying for the course. I can either send them a check for $350 or I can wait 10 months for it to be paid off in full. Either way doesn’t matter too much to me, at least I’m finished with it.

Bella
I’m bringing Bella to the groomer tomorrow morning. Her hair is too shaggy and she’s getting a little knotted. It’s also going to be rather hot this summer, considering that it’s only spring and today was a whopping 90°. I’m sure she’ll look like a little alien though. I’m getting her shaved completely. When I said that to the groomer on the phone she kind of stuttered a bit, but it’s my dog I can shave her if I want to. :humph: I’ll have a picture of it tomorrow afternoon when I pick her up.

[edit] – So here’s a few before/after pics. Not the best considering my cam isn’t cooperating much lately (damn batteries).

Bella Grooming 5-5-06

[/edit]

In any event….I’m on my dinner break so I think I’ll start returning some of the comments from the previous entry, thanks guys!

It’s all coming together…

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

It took me a little longer than expected but I finally completed my last essay. I’ve got both essays in their cute little pre-paid envelopes and Dad will be dropping them off at the post office on his way to work tomorrow. I can’t WAIT to get the notifications that I’m officially done with the course.

AND – I’m actually doing REALLY WELL on referrals right now. Based on the emails I’ve received I have about 12 valid signups and considering I only needed 9 I’m very happy about it. I’m waiting for them all to clear and then I’ll go ahead and cash out my $1800. Business has also picked up a little bit so I won’t have to dip into the $1800 for a new monitor. Instead I can use that $200 on a nice setup for the porch.

The new table and chairs are only going to run me about $80, which is great considering the SIZE of the table. I’m then going to head over to Wal-Mart and load up on pots and soil because Roll ‘n Grow is A LOT cheaper then going out and buying a whole heap of plants that I’ll have to move around from their original casing to soil anyway. In this case I can just cut a few strips to the proper sized pots and then watch them spurt out in about a month or so. I’ll LOVE it haha. I’m excited too. All bills will be paid off, a few gifts will be given out and some money will go aside for my father’s birthday as well as my sisters. The rest is gravy.

I’ll keep about $200 aside for the BBQ this summer, which (if all goes well) I’ll definitely be having. I know Christie will be VERY happy about that too.

I can’t wait, I’m just antsy now. March was a really shitty month but April is definitely looking a lot better.

How sweet!

[edit]

He sent me tulips! I heart the bald bastard today haha.
[/edit]

So, for some reason or another, I wound up at Wal-Mart again tonight. I don’t even really like the store; I just like good deals on useless things. I loaded up on some more plates, bowls and cups. I’m officially set for this summers BBQ. The only thing left is the new table which I’ll be purchasing in a few weeks, and then the new gas grill which dad will be purchasing soon as well.

While looking through the isles I came across a new hamper, something I was in desperate need for. My current one, although still in good shape, has a small hole on the side that’s driving me crazy. I also like separating clothes so I figured it’d be a good idea to have more than one for easy sorting. I bought it, it was only like $4 so it’s not like it was a major investment. I came home, popped it open and threw my clothes in it. So now I’ve got two full bags of laundry staring me in the face. I’ll start on that tomorrow though; I really have no choice now. I’ve only got one set of clothes left in my closet and I’ll be wearing them tomorrow after I get out of the shower. So a weekend-o-laundry is on my plate. I guess it’ll keep my mind off things; for some reason folding laundry has that effect on me.

I also intend to start on my essays this weekend. Originally, I kind of made little plans in hopes that Heather and John would come visit me on Saturday. Heather’s too busy though, and that’s fine because I’m sure I’ll see them soon. So, I’ve switched to plan B. Writing two essays, working on about 6 loads of laundry and then spending some much needed R&R time on the couch with Bella.

For some reason, for the last few days Shaun has been bugging me to make sure I was awake early on Saturday morning. I just called him a little while ago and nagged the hell out of him to tell me why. He sent flowers, how sweet! He was like “I owed you a V-Day gift and I know life sucks right now”. He then went on to ask if I could let him go back to sleep because he was really enjoying his dream and he had to wake up for work in a few hours. He promised we’d talk tomorrow and I know that he’s coming to visit me soon. I’m happy now; it brought a smile to my face for the first time in the last few weeks. Sure, I’ve had laughs and giggles because I have dear friends who care about me and want me to be happy again. A gesture like this, however, really means a lot to me. It was also very unexpected considering the source of the gift. He was a great boyfriend, but never this sweet to me in the past. I can honestly say this is the first time I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve gotten flowers; I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m touched. I’ll post a picture tomorrow, I don’t know what he sent me but I’m sure they’re beautiful.

In any event, it’s almost 4AM and if I have to be up early to accept his gift then I guess I should head off to bed.

Slowly but surely…

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

I’ve gotten a few emails telling me that my last post was just, wrong. The thing no one seems to understand is that I’m not saying that no one else is entitled to be upset about Joe’s passing. I would never, ever, dare take that away from anyone. My issue is with those comparing my pain to theirs. Yes, you’re upset; you lost a great friend and I truly understand that. I lost him on a much different level. No, I’m not saying that I’m hurting more than you are but don’t tell me that you know exactly what I’m going through, when you really don’t. You don’t know my relationship with him, or even my connection to him so stop throwing shit in my face for things that you don’t understand, and aren’t of concern to you.

Right Arm 3/13/06 Stick Boy said I was crazy for even thinking about it but, I went out last night and got my second tattoo. The series is complete, so to speak. I designed both arms at the same time and figured they’d be spaced out a bit, but Joe’s dying has got me in the mind set that life on earth is just too short to wait for things that you really want. The Chinese symbol underneath is “Joe”, so even though he can’t be here with me in the physical sense, this is my way of keeping him by my side for the rest of my life, however long it may be.

However, dropping $400 in a week, on tattoo’s no less, wasn’t something I planned. So that really dipped into my laptop fund. That’s okay though, because this was something that I needed a lot more than having the mobile ability I want for work. I know the difference between want and need, and it’s been established that not many people around the ‘net really can grasp that concept. Sure, tattoos are somewhat material but they’re also memorials. I don’t have a large collection of photos of Joe. I have 6 years of memories, AIM conversations from the last couple of years (on this hard drive at least) and a sense of comfort knowing that he’s still with me (in one sense or another). I used to wonder why I stopped myself from deleting certain things, from certain people, off my computer. Joe was always the one who I looked past, knowing that I’d need to see those conversations again. I find myself reading through them on occasion. Just so I can get the same sense that he’s here, they’ve helped me a lot…that’s for sure.

I’m beginning to get back into the swing of things for work. I need to get my head out of the clouds for a little bit and buckle down. Although a lot of my future plans included Joe, I know he’d want me to move on and continue to reach my goals. I do still intend to be moved out of here by the end of the year. I intend to continue with school and pick up degrees in all the fields that interest me. I’m slowly finishing up on my English module (which showed up on Saturday). The multiple-choice is fine, I can knock that out in a few hours; it’s the essay that’s annoying. I knew I’d have to write one. I don’t think anyone can go through school without having to write up some kind of an essay at some point in time, no matter what the course. I just know that once I’m done with all of that I’ll graduate and can then move on to the next level. I gave myself the goal for April and I’ve stuck by it. I’m happy with that, I really am.

After I got my tattoo last night, I did some shopping. I’m not sure how I managed to do it but I dropped $160.00 at Wal-Mart. I got myself some much needed clothes though, so that counts for something; t-shirts, bras, underwear, etc. I’m addicted to “house wares” though; I went out and got a new toaster oven, because we haven’t had one in the longest time. I bought a lot of plates and cups for the BBQ this summer, which I do fully intend to have, there’s just obviously going to be one less person to invite. I even got myself a four pack of ash-trays because I really need one outside. Right now I’ve just got an old coffee can with a little bit of water in it (to avoid sparks). In the summer it REAKS, so the alternative is a good one. I’m back to throwing money into savings though. Although I went through almost half of the money that I had set aside for my laptop, with business going as well as it has been for the last couple of months I’ll have no trouble getting it all back.

My goal is to have it purchased by mid-April/early May; this way when it gets here I’ll be enjoying the sunlight and maybe even getting some kind of a tan. I enjoy being pale, I really do, I just need some ounce of color so I don’t look so sickly. I guess I’m just weak from everything going on this week but I just look so zombie-ish that it’s sparked a concern that I’ll address sooner than later.

Shaun said he’d come up and visit me soon. I haven’t seen him in three years but he knows how important Joe was to me, so he feels it’s only fair that he comes over and spends some time with me. Stick Boy said if he wasn’t working so much he’d truck it from North Carolina if I needed him. And Sean basically said the same thing, only from Delaware. For some reason, knowing that they’d do that for me just relaxes me…I’m not sure why.

In any event, I need to crack down on this homework and finish up on this client so I can finally lay down and just go back to sleep.

Later all

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Well, I said it was simple and I meant it was simple. I spent a whopping five minutes on the graphics for this theme, and that’s only because Photoshop was lagging a little bit. So like it or not it’ll be up for the month; at least it’s easy to read.

It took me longer to code this one though. If you went through the navigation you’d see why. It’s not a hard script to write it was just a bitch to me when I was trying to get it loaded to the Exit pages, not sure why but I managed to figure it out. I guess the number of external links was fucking with it, who knows.

I’ve been having some MAJOR issues for the past couple of days. So far this week I’ve taken a very nasty fall, went about 36 hours without sleep, my cold has resurfaced so I’m back to being plain old sick again. Gotta love Wednesdays, right?

So both Adam and I have agreed that this Stein account is driving us crazy. Last time I checked he was waiting on a response from the client and then going to send in the bill. I want to get paid damn it, it’s been well over a month! I believe I started it Jan 14th, and that’s only because I dated that particular folder. Yep, just double checked that one Saturday, January 14, 2006, 5:27:23 PM – Wouldn’t you say its time for them to pay up? I certainly think so.

With a big thank you to Sarah for allowing me to use her Gerber Daises images, Euphoric MB currently has quite a nifty and bright layout up as its default. I’m happy with how it came out and I’m glad she likes it too considering it’s based off her images.

Today is supposed to be semi-busy for me, I guess that’s the only reason I’m posting this now instead of doing it later. Since I only got three hours of sleep I’m semi-coherent at the moment so I guess it made sense to post.

Dad and I are going shopping today. I went through my closet last week and noticed that I have about 800 pairs of pants and maybe 10 shirts that I rotate regularly. So I ask him if I bought him breakfast would that get him to drive me out east to do some shopping. He agreed and in about 20 minutes I’ll be getting dressed and we’ll then head out to iHOP or something. It’s easier with them; they serve breakfast all day there’s no reason to rush to get anywhere.

I think we’re going to hit up Kmart, Wal-Mart, Target, and Macy’s. Then on the way home we’ll head to Sears to pick up something for my aunts birthday. I’m always messing up her birthday – and it happens every single year. She was born on 3/4 but her mother was born on 3/6, so having birthday’s that close together really kind of confuse people. My dad’s known ’em both for almost 60 years and he confuses them so it’s not like we don’t care about her, so you can choke on that thought. The only reason I’m remembering lately is because now she’s got herself a couple of email addresses and they’ve all got 34 on ’em. YAY yet more proof that the brains of the family rest solely on Dad’s side.

In any event, I have to get dressed, walk Bella and blow my nose to the point where at least one nostril is free for the day.

Tootles!

Teh Updates

Monday, February 13th, 2006

So the Blizzard of 2006 (well…so far at least) came and went. I personally saw it as Armageddon, and I’ll explain why. Firstly, we got about two feet of snow (I’ve got pictures to prove it). The storm that came over was so powerful there was an eye lingering over my town and the towns to either side of me. There was plenty of thunder and lightning which I found to be very weird considering it was a snow storm, not rain. I always thought that the only way that lightning/thunder could happen would ever happen is when warm meets cold, so I was confused but then Dad cleared it up for me.

See, Glen Cove is right on the Long Island Sound, as are quite a few other towns (obviously) but we’re where the focus was. Being as January was so unseasonably warm, the temperature of the sound was higher then normal, so there’s our heat meets cold which resulted in huge bolts of lightening and thunder rumbling so loud it was though a big rig was driving through the building.

I guess I really can say my luck has changed this week, oddly enough. First the blizzard, which was more powerful then expected. Then the 100% on the first exam, and taking the second one today I also got 100%. Dad won $20 on a scratch off. I landed the WordPress job so that’s $200 for me, PLUS billing fucked up and I doubt I’m getting my 1099 tax form, so I can use that money to not only purchase my laptop but I’ll also be able to purchase a new monitor, paint for my room, as well as a new rug.

So yea, I’m content this weekend.

Now it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s time for the snow?¢‚Ǩ¬¶

I woke up this morning and saw this outside of my window. I know it doesn’t look like much here, but at this time there was 15″ of snow on the ground. There ARE bushes under there, but only about half of them are showing.

This is the corner of the deck, closest to the end apartment. The wind was so intense that they said although we were getting 15+ inches of snow, snow drifts we’re going to be up to five feet high. The only thing that stopped that from happening here was the fact that the wall is only four feet high.

This is Bella’s normal view of the street, if you look towards the middle you can see where the snow blower was and what kind of a ledge was left behind. It took me a while to dig her gate out of the snow this morning. She was stuck waiting inside for me so she didn’t run down the stairs. The gate is about 3 feet high, so there’s visual proof #3 on the snow accumulation.

I would have more but I was on a low battery to begin with. I figure that these three images would be more then enough to give you an idea of what went on here last night.

I lost Bella in a few snow banks. She managed to resurface herself after a few moments but I came very close to diving into a snow bank after her. Then I realized how much that would suck and just called her until she decided to pop her head out and find something else to do. I just gave her a bath about an hour ago because we were outside for a good half hour and after playing in the snow she was no longer a dog, but a big block of crisp ice, even through her clothes. Yes, she was wearing a sweater that covered her legs up and her chest so she wasn’t so cold. That doesn’t mean it worked considering the snow soaked right through the clothes and there went that bright idea.

In any event, I’m going to work on test #3 and hopefully have this whole module done by Wednesday. I figure the faster I can get through it, the faster I can head up to the hospital and get a job with medical insurance considering how bad my eyes have gotten lately. A full time job should clear that all up so hopefully I actually get something there.

Later all

It’s Up!

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

Okay, so after a couple days of tweaking and preparing, the new layout is up. It features Bella because she’s my valentine this year. She wakes up and licks my face just like any loser boyfriend in the past – so why not?

I went all out on this one though, shockingly enough. If you notice when you go through the navigation everything changes (depending on the category). This was intentional. I’ve been working on a lot of business sites lately and for some reason this particular setup is burned into my brain. So using it on a personal site is a tad bit different, but I like it either way. Hell, pink and grey always work well together; doesn’t it?

It’s Wednesday, and oddly enough my day off. I’ve been working my ass off for the last two weeks and am taking a much needed break. I almost didn’t even want to blog or put this template up. I had no reason to turn on my computer, but I promised so that’s why it’s up. I get to spend the next two days finishing up any and everything I can on a few clients sites and then I’m gone for the weekend.

My aunt’s going to the city for some big super bowl thing on Saturday so I’m staying at her house. I got my American Government module yesterday so I’m taking it with me to get all of my homework done. Having two days of absolute silence? There?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s no problem here! Yea, I’ll have to listen to my uncles TV on Sunday because he’s a sports fanatic and apparently the Super Bowl is a big deal, never was to me so I don’t give a shit. I’ve got the rest of the house to myself though, so I’ll work it out. I’m sure I’ll be stuck with either Figgy or Lacey on my lap. Gotta love cats that just won’t leave you alone!

I’ve been breaking down my to-do list for tax season and I’m set way behind because of the billing center at source-1. They send out all of the w2 forms at the same time, so of course I’ll probably have to wait until two weeks before taxes are freaking due, UNFAIR. I definitely know what I’m doing with whatever money I do get to keep this year.

  • Gut Room: Go through everything, throw out anything not needed.
  • Clean Closet: I’ve got clothes in there that I don’t wear and their just taking up space. A lot of moms shit is still in there too so being as she no longer lives here, hello local landfill.
  • Paint Room: I’m going to take down all shelving, posters and nick nacks and fill in the holes and paint everything pure white.
  • Paint Doors: I’m painting the closet doors black, or maybe just purchasing new ones because these doors are 20 years old and need an update…badly.
  • Purchase Rug: I’m going with either a grey with a black border, or grey with navy border. I currently have a rosey pink one that’s been in here for about 12 years and its just UGLY. It’s in decent condition – I just hate the colors.
  • Domestications.com will be my new best friend. I’m getting new pillows, sheets, a comforter, the works. Pillows need to be replaced once a year, and mine are about a month over due.
  • Bedroom Diagram Rearrange: I’m basically switching the setup I’ve got right now. As you can tell I’m just moving things around a bit, nothing too major at all. The reason behind this would be that I’m purchasing a new monitor. It’d be easier for me to have my desk next to the window if I can put a new monitor on it. I’ll give me more then half my desk space back and believe me I’d kill for that. I also love having fresh air during the day and unfortunately right now I’m facing a wall…not a window.

So yea – those are my plans. They don’t seem like much but trust me, they’re definitely worth it. I haven’t had a major overhaul in here in 12-13 years, I think its time, believe me.

In any event; It’s almost 2 pm which means I have to go veg out on the couch for an hour before dad gets home. I have to then head on down to the grocery store and do some shopping. There’s absolutely no food in the house and I’m getting sick of my sister bitching about it. For someone who fucked up her own car, then decided that she’s buying a brand new ford truck, you’d think she’d go out and get a job…HA. She’s convinced that dad is going to co-sign, and that she’s going to get the loan from the dealership. It’s funny considering she barely works one job and isn’t even on the books, has no bank account, and no previous credit what so ever. I can only imagine how quickly that credit check would work out.

Alrighty – I’m going now. Toodles!

New stuff a brewin’

EuphoricMB After spending some time working on it, EuphoricMB is open for business. I opened it on the 23rd, but decided to wait a few days before announcing it. But yea, its open – go post will you? I’m currently holding a contest for all members, the most active referrals by March 31st gets you a free domain and hosting, so go post your hearts out and refer everyone you know.

So I’ve worked all my taxes out for AGn Solutions. I’m going to owe a little over $1,300 to the government. This is fine considering I assumed that much anyway. I’m still waiting on my W2 from Source-1 and I know I’ll owe maybe $600 – so yea no laptop for a few months.

I’m going to go full speed a head with redoing my room though. It’s time to do something completely for me around this house and damn it I’m going to abuse that. The new monitor, digital camera, rug, bedding, paint color on the walls and furniture will just make me a happy, happy person. Anyone want to come help me paint? I’ll cook for you.

I’m currently in the process of getting February’s theme completed. I have a ‘photo shoot’ (so to speak) with Bella tomorrow to get some great pictures of her to use on it. The theme and content are all completed but the images I used of her are a little out dated and she looks a bit scruffy. By looking at her pictures you’d think that she’s never been brushed before, but I do seriously brush her on a daily basis; she just rolls around a lot. BUT – I’ll have the new layout up on the first, so that’ll be when I next update my blog.

On Saturday the 4th I’ll be at my aunt’s house. She’s going to the city overnight for some big super bowl party and won’t be home until late Sunday evening, so I get to house sit. I really don’t mind it considering I’ll be occupied anyway. I should be getting my American Government module this week so I’ll have something to work on. With the way the weather’s been lately I’ll be able to hang out on the back porch and relax for a while too. According to the report it’s going to be about 50° so it makes perfect sense to hang out back there, doesn’t it?

Miranda has been keeping me company tonight. The boy went to bed early, Heather & Christie weren’t online and I needed someone to bother, so she won. YAY Miranda! Go give her a smooch.

On another note, Happy Birthday Ranee!! Go give her loads of comments and b-day wishes.

Bella’s being extra annoying to get me to go lay down with her so I’m going to shut down for the night. See you Wednesday!

I think too much…

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

Although I was very happy to be purchasing my laptop within the next two weeks, I decided it would be a better idea to hold off on it for another month. I’ve got a solid couple of months worth of work lined up so money isn’t an issue, I just think I could spend it on other things that are a bit more important.

I’ll be doing my taxes within the next couple of weeks and I’m almost positive I’ll owe money instead of receive it, so I’m going to be putting all the money aside just for this reason. If I don’t have to pay much, I’ll be purchasing an LCD. The reason for wanting a laptop originally was so I could regain my desk space. I’ve got a HUGE 19″ CRT monitor taking up more then half of the desk, and although I absolutely love my monitor its just too big for me to handle anymore, especially with school. After talking to Joe, I’m going to get this one. It’s a downgrade to a 17″ but it honestly won’t be much different then what I’ve got. A CRT, even a 19″ is only about 18″ of viewable space where as a 17″ LCD is the full 17″ so in reality I’m only losing about an inch of viewing space, and that’s fine with me considering I’m gaining more then half a desk in return and it’ll be a lot easier on my eyes since I won’t be right on top of the monitor anymore.

I’ll also be purchasing a new digital camera, because the one I want is only about $150 and that’s really not such a bad deal considering its 5mpxl. I’ll have to retire my current digital, maybe I’ll just give it to my sister I don’t know. It only works in a well lit room, even though its a 4mpxl. The flash doesn’t work on it so it’s useless at night and that’s when I’d like to take more pictures considering that’s when the most shit seems to happen around here. There’s something about that moon.

When I know for sure what’s going on with the money, I’ll go ahead and purchase those two things. Then I’ll be doing some rearranging in my room. It’s time to update the paint and maybe get rid of the rug (it’s an area rug, not like wall to wall or anything so its easy to remove). I think if I were to just redo my room instead of go out and get a laptop, I could hold off on getting one until the end of the year when I plan to move out of here. I want to paint my desk and dresser so that they match. I’ll paint the walls white and get rid of this damn lavender color and then pull in a rug that’s the same color as the paint on the furniture, which I’m thinking of doing in black. I vacuum twice a week anyway so its not like I’d have to worry about the rug getting too dirty looking anyway, cause I know EVERYTHING shows up on a black rug.

I guess I’ll just have to see what happens when I head to H&R Block next week…huh?

Le Sigh

My sister went to the hospital the other night. She was getting some really, really bad cough attacks. To the point that she was driving everyone crazy to the point of wanting to rip her throat out so there could be peace and quiet in the house again. After two hours of dealing with rude nurses and a doctor that was so fresh out of medical school the ink wasn’t dry on the diploma, she was diagnosed with Bronchitis. She’s got meds for it, I don’t because I’m no longer covered under my dads insurance and an E.R. visit without insurance is 2g’s that I don’t have. Being as her and I share the same symptoms (only mine are a bit worse) it’s obvious that we’ve both got the same thing.

I think I get worse as the days go on. I’m self-medicating with Dayquil and Nyquil just to help me through the congestion. I’m not really coughing very much but thanks to having to blow my nose as much as I am, I’ve got nose bleeds up the wahoo that I just can’t seem to kick. There’s enough DNA in my garbage bin to link me to quite a few crimes on Long Island.

I picked up a few decent clients this week so I’ll be able to afford all the medication I’ll need until I can get rid of this damn bronchitis. I’ve been spoiling myself with iced tea and peppermint life savers. Why? Because sick people have bad breath and not even brushing three times a day can fix it. I bought my sister a bag of life savers too.

For now, I’m going to curl up with my book and hopefully fall asleep within the next hour because my eyes are burning so bad I’m afraid they’re going to melt out of my head.

Night all

Still Sick.

Friday, January 6th, 2006

Have you ever wished that you could go back three days and stop yourself from blowing your nose that first time? Ever since I had that first blowing of the nose it just hasn’t stopped. I’ve gone through two boxes of tissues and even though they’re the extra soft aloe vera ones, my nose is still all ripped up.

I had a nose bleed last night, a pretty bad one too. I hadn’t had one like that in a while so of course I was freaking out. Apparently if you blow your nose too much that just tends to happen. How freaking unfair!

My throats feeling better but I’m still coughing. I can’t wait until I can breath out of my nose again. Up until Tuesday, I felt lucky that I didn’t have a runny nose, now of course this shit happens and its proof that I jinxed myself.

I had to complete another offer with my NB4F.com account because one of them was just taking WAY TOO LONG to go through. So I went with the AOL one. I don’t like AOL but I figured if there’s a three month free trial, might as well. So I registered my AIM name to be used on AOL and the rest is history. I think the ONLY change AOL made that was of any real use to anyone is the tabbed windows for IM’s. Considering I’m used to that on AIM since I use Dead AIM 4.5 with it, it’s a nice touch to have.

Linked screen names don’t work, but I guess that’s okay for now. I can still run AIM in the background for business shit.

My friend was feeling very generous this Christmas and got me A LOT of stuff. Macromedia Suite, Adobe Suite, Corel Suite, the works. I’m going to be heading over to his house in a couple of weeks to pick them up. I’ve already been playing with Swish MAX to pick up on some Flash and hopefully should have something to show for it within the next couple of weeks. For now, however, I have quite a bit of work to do with clients so that stuff will just have to be put off for a little while.

In any event, I have to go finish off another box of tissues, make myself some tea and swallow a bottle of dayquil so I can get some work done.

Later all!
