Almost done for the evening.

Friday, July 27th, 2007

For some reason my domain wasn’t set to auto-renew so I luckily got in just in time so I could keep AGn Designs up and running without any downtime. The server has been on the fritz for most of the evening, if you’ve noticed a 500 error – trust me I’m fully aware of it.

I just finished up work for the day, took me a few hours longer than anticipated but I think that was based on the fact that I’m having some trouble concentrating. I have quite a bit of email to go through as well. I’ve been slacking, but honestly I’ve just had more important things to do. I’m working on a new project, I’m getting clients taken care of, if random questions here and there go unanswered for a day or two that’s just how it is. I’ll have all of them cleared up tonight though, I should be sitting here for a little while longer before I take a shower and get myself ready for bed.

Bella’s being obnoxious lately, she refuses to eat anything half the time and she’s been right at my feet for what seems like the last 24 hours. I usually can’t leave the room without having her right behind me but today it’s just growing to be annoying. I can’t even move my chair without the risk of rolling over her paw or her tail. She has a bed in the office, she won’t really sleep in it though. She was in it for a while today but then Sean came back in the office and for some reason once he showed up she wound up right back underneath my chair. If she was just under the desk itself it wouldn’t be that bad but right under the wheel of the chair is just unsafe considering how often I move around. My back has been killing me, so sitting still for too long just doesn’t seem possible anymore.

Time to get some write-ups taken care of.

I’m done with the August theme. I’m thinking about launching early considering I can’t stand this blue thing. But I have all of that stuff on auto-move so I’ll just wait and go from there so I don’t mess anything up. Jenny saw it last night, thought it was cute – that’s good enough for me. I made her an icon to match my template and now she’s all smiles.

Disorganized as all hell

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I’ve been saying it to myself for days but I really need to do some serious cleaning. My desk is turning into a dumping ground for random crap that I don’t need and the sooner I get rid of everything, the better. I have magazines kind of thrown around and papers that could probably be thrown out that I’m too lazy to look at. My iPod is dead but I’ve yet to throw it on the charger and wires are all over the place with my keyboard and mouse plus the head phones. My white board covered in my to-do list actually is just listing completed projects at this point and the board could basically be wiped clean, it’s kind of annoying. Soda cans and pens kind of fill in the holes everywhere else.

To my left is the dumping ground for both Sean and I. There’s a table separating our desks (makes it look like back-to-back L shaped desks) that’s covered in crap that doesn’t even need to be in here. His desk doesn’t look any better at the moment either. I think the two of us need to stop working (money’s great right now) and then spend an hour cleaning out the room. The coffee table that’s being used as a TV tray is caked in dust and that can’t be good for his XBox360. I know for a fact that my computer needs to be dusted out as well but the can of air we’ve got is close to dead and I don’t want to shoot any kind of liquid into my case, condensation on a can or air is HORRIBLE when the thing is about to die.

There’s crap in the fridge that can definitely be thrown out and even with all the shelving we have in here everything is unorganized. There’s got to be something we can do to solve this problem. This middle table is going to have to be changed out at some point because when I purchase the iMac it’s going in between us. That’s later down the road but you’d think knowing that we have some kind of time frame going on we’d be able to organize better. You know?

Things are finally starting to move!

I’m not sure if anyone else heard about this yesterday but some drunken loony out in Cali decided to destroy a couple servers at a major data center that houses big-name sites/companies like Technorati, Six Apart, Netflix and CraigsList. This was before the huge power outage that they suffered as well so the last I heard there were a mob of people standing outside the building being very pissed off about the ‘breach of contract’ going on with the down time, guess they didn’t notice there wasn’t any power either – hm? I found the actual story itself on slashdot, a direct link to the article can be found here. I’m sure you’ll find some aspects of it both amusing and quite annoying – I know I did.

There were notifications up on a few of the sites that were experiencing downtime. I believe that Alexa (while it may not have been in this particular building) is also based out of SF and I know for a fact that they experienced some down time as well. This is why my site has been lagging for the last few days. And to think, I thought it was blogrolling being mean to me again (hrm…maybe they’re hosted on a server there too?).

My August theme is about 80% completed, I absolutely hate this blue monstrosity that I’ve got sitting up here and I made it a point to sit down and work on it this evening. It’s about 9am and I’m still awake. The template didn’t keep me up though, my eyes are crossing too much to even continue to move forward with it, it’s the fact that dinner was started at 5am (sauce needs to brew all day) and now I just have to give some things a quick stir before my head can hit the pillow.

I have a lot of work to do today, quite a few emails to get back to, and I need to make a phonecall to a dealership up in Jersey because we misplaced the ID number for our Sirius Satellite radio and now since I’m going to reactivate it for both car AND home use – obviously I’m going to need that number.

Long day, not enough hours – I’ll tell ya!

Damn, that hurt

I came very close to throwing my back out while I was washing the hair dye out of my head. I don’t like hanging over a tub because I’m used to just leaning down over the sink. It always bothered me but a few moments ago it was to the point of screaming intense pain. I don’t even have all of the soap out of my hair, I’m waiting on Karen to take a shower so she can get herself ready for work tomorrow then I’m more than likely going to hop in the shower and finish the job.

I can barely move though, doubt this is going to go very well.

Dying my hair.

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Unfortunately the gray in my hair has come back with a vengeance and I had no choice but to get myself back on track with dying my hair. For many years now I’ve always had it done for me. I lived in a house hold filled with beauticians and my family also runs their own cosmetics business so naturally it was easy for me to tap into these resources. I don’t think I’ve ever paid for a hair cut or to hide my gray hair.

My first gray hair showed up at the age of four. I’m not sure why but from there it’s kind of ballooned into a new bunch of hair every few months would just pop up out of no where. Family claims it’s stress related but what does a four year old really know about stress? By the time I was 14 I was more than half gray, spending countless hours in a chair each month to cover it up for the last 8 years has been nothing more than horrible but at 22, the last thing you want is to have more gray hair than your 60 year old father.

So today I went ahead and threw some dye in, instead of my usual dark brown I punched up the color with a bit of purple and now as I’m typing this, I’m ‘cooking’ so to speak. I have about 10 minutes before I need to wash everything out, I figured I’d get a little bit of work done in the process.

I’m doing what…where?

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

I think the one thing I hate the most in the world, and anyone who knows me can vouch for this, is disorganization. I like to be able to walk into a clean house and when it comes to things like cleaning and laundry I have a system that I like to work with. It’s folded the second it comes out of the dryer and then goes into a laundry basket and straight back to the room. There’s no reason for something to just sit there for longer than maybe 15-20 minutes. Again, this is just how I’ve done things for many years.

So you can imagine my surprise when I found out that my new washer/dryer setup was located in the garage. I’m used to it being inside in it’s own little room and completely out of the way from bothering anyone. Knowing that I’m now in a garage doing everything has had me a bit annoyed because there’s so much crap in there that you can barely move, we’re in serious need of some storage cabinets and maybe with a clean-out of the garage we could actually, I don’t know, fit the car in there? It’s being used as a storage room and if that’s the case I don’t know why we can’t take the big bulky door off and turn it into an actual usable room considering it’s a two car garage – that’s a huge extension on the house that could be used instead of abused the way it is now!

Much needed relaxing evening

Friday, July 20th, 2007

We wound up ordering out for dinner tonight because I’d forgotten to take some stuff out of the freezer to defrost so pizza seemed to be the only option. So while I sat here and got some work done, answering emails and what not, Sean went out to pick up the pizza and on his way back got the mail to find out that “Out to Sea” a movie he’d put on his blockbuster queue a while ago, showed up tonight. We plopped down in front of the TV for a few hours, enjoyed our pizza and laughed our asses off at the movie. Now it’s a little after midnight and we’re both back in the office getting some work done, well – I’m mainly starting on work for when I wake up in the morning. He just does what he does whenever he can, basically.

It’s my goal to at least get a PSD together for another template to put up on blog ideas. I’d like to have maybe four or five big templates – I don’t want to just hand out crappy CSS ones that are quick and simple for someone. I want them to have some kind of a style to them that isn’t really found on freebie templates, and trust me I’ve looked through many databases in order to know the route I’m going to take with these. I should probably boot up photoshop and get to work.

I’m stuck.

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I’m not sure why but for some reason I’m having trouble coding up one of the free templates. There’s a lot of functions options to play with for the widgets. I came across an article where you can use multiple widgets on the site and naturally I’m looking into them considering one of the themes has a hemmingway footer and instead of having the user install excess plugins, I’d rather do it through the new WordPress 2.0 setup with the widgets. I know the sidebar one works fine, it’s just creating the other ones for the footer that are growing to be a pain in the ass. I’ve been working on it for most of the day so I could have at least four solid templates to launch with in upcoming weeks.

Shauna, to answer your question, the downloads will be based on acidgloss.net, but I’ll have them located on blog-ideas.net and even curvy-chick.net just to cross link everything.¬† Either way they’ll be easy to find, trust me.

Other than that, it’s been kind of a lazy day. There isn’t really anything interesting going on. A little bit of rain passed through here today but nothing major. There’s nothing on television and I got no cleaning done, other than a few things in the kitchen before I made dinner. I did a roasted chicken with potatoes and broccoli, turned out pretty good but the white meat was a little dry and that makes no sense to me considering I basted the thing about three times during it’s three hour cook time. There’s a lot of left overs, I had to take all of the meat off the bones to put in a bowl. It’s not worth keeping the bones when the important stuff can easily fit into a bowl for convenience. So Bella is covered on food for the next few days, no one really eats left overs. It’ll save me some money too considering her new love of canned chicken is costing me about $30 a week in dog food where regular dog food is only about $0.60 cents per can – she’d prefer human food.

She got sick this morning, she refuses to eat and then throws up and looks for sympathy. So Sean and I were both sitting on the floor kind of forcing a piece of cheese down her throat, It didn’t work and we just wound up going to bed. We woke up a few hours later and she went right for a piece of cheese. Too much of a brat for me, I swear.

Speaking of brats, Princess loves to go through purses and managed to get into mine. All my gum is gone and all of my receipts are ripped to shreds. She did her damage then parked herself on the couch like she could do absolutely no wrong. She also almost took my finger off tonight going after a piece of food, teeth marks and blood to prove it. Vicious little brat, I swear to god.

Finally accomplished something!

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

I’ve been pretty busy for the last few days working on many different projects, and clients no less, but one thing that I’ve been able to finally accomplish is getting some templates together for the freebie sections on my other domains. As of right now they’re all coded for WordPress, I just need to set them up on the other sites. There will be other platforms available, I just need to work on them.

Some are primarily CSS based while others have some funky graphics that I thought would be rather cool for the web2.0 world that I’m slowly tapping into with my designs. I’m to a point now where I’m itching to play around with CSS3 on some of my templates but there are still browsers who can’t handle it so I guess I’m going to have to wait a while for that one.

I picked up a magazine today that features the top 50 web2.0 based websites on the internet, I think sometime tomorrow I’ll do a write-up of that list so I can get them out there. The bulk of them are pretty heavy with Ajax, something I’m itching to learn over time. I guess this just means I’ll be working harder than I currently am.

Either way it’s a little after 3:30 in the morning and I think it’s time to get some rest. I have some clothes to fold up before I can even get to my pillow but that shouldn’t take me very long at all, thankfully. It’s going to be a big cleaning day for me. I have my to-do list right in front of me in bold black text so I don’t forget about it. Gotta love dry-erase boards, they’re the best thing since pen and paper (for me at least).

The price isn’t right.

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

I’ve been doing pretty well in regards to saving money for the last few days. Sean and I added some numbers together and realized that in the last month the two of us have spent over $1,000 going out to dinner. This isn’t cheapy McDonalds kind of purchases, we’re talking $60 a pop kind of meals on a regular basis. So we decided to tighten the purse strings and start eating home more.

I was doing pretty well. I went out the other night with Karen and we both did our grocery shopping for the week. I did have to make a quick run out tonight for items to have with dinner tomorrow night (roasted chicken) but I wound up spending over $70, not quite sure where it all went either. I know that about $12 went to cigarettes so I’m not counting that towards the purchase but it’s hard to believe that milk, butter and some small inexpensive things can all add up to about $60. I think the 4 for $11 on my soda didn’t go through the way it was supposed to, even with the membership card :hrm:

Cleaning + Stormy Weather + Work = GREAT DAY!

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I woke up with a mission and the concentration that I needed for the past few days. The kitchen was cleaned up, the coffee table is now cleared off and even the dining room received the touch-up it needed. Tomorrow, or maybe even before I go to sleep, I’ll wind up getting all of my laundry taken care of and I think I’ll float around the house with the vacuum as well considering it’s been a while since that was done.

A rather nasty storm rolled through here this afternoon and I’m happy I’d woken up just in time to be outside for the start of it. Nasty thunder and lightening for a few hours and two very scared puppies because of all the ‘boom booms’ as we call them. I had princess curled up on one leg and Bella basically trying to crawl behind me just for safety. For dogs with such big personalities when someone rings the door bell (bark central!) they’re kitty cats when it comes to thunder – go figure.

Minus the cleaning I had a fairly good day as far as business is concerned. I’m waiting on a few payments from clients but I count that as income for the 16th considering that’s when projects were completed. Now I just have to decide if I’m going to get Sean a Wii or a monitor for our anniversary. He told me he doesn’t want anything but you can’t NOT get someone something – you know?

Talk about BORING

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Today was kind of sluggish for me, not sure if it was based on the fact that it’s a Sunday or what, but either way I really didn’t accomplish very much. I did get some work done for a few clients. I also managed to get some posting done for advertisers on other domains. I’m working on rebuilding a few things that I’ve kind of left behind in the past. I setup a few banners for advertisers and that’s basically the bulk of my day.

The one thing I was unable to accomplish – at all – was anything home based. I set out to clean up the kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom and a much needed cleaning of the coffee table in the living room. I didn’t get around to doing any of it which is kind of annoying considering in a few moments Sean and I are going to retire to the living room for a little while and watch a movie. It’s hard to relax when theirs chaos going on around me. I may wind up starting on that clean up after I’m done posting here just so I can go in there and lay down to watch a movie without feeling over whelmed.

Mozilla Thunderbird I keep getting strange spam email to my girl@k.nu account, I may wind up moving things around there or just getting rid of the address in general considering everything is basically redirected to gmail anyway. I don’t even bother to log into websites for email anymore, I’ve got thunderbird housing about 8 email addresses at the moment – god I love this thing. Anything Mozilla touches upon is gold – I swear. I know it seems stupid to put up a screen shot but for those of you not using thunderbird, just the side panel alone can basically show you the perks of the program. Running multiple email addresses under one main login makes life very easy, especially when I’m working with clients on 3 different email addresses depending on where they came from. The cool thing about thunderbird is it’s networking capabilities. I’m running everything off of my external hard drive which can be accessed through my laptop as well, I don’t have to worry about just using one computer for email anymore, the way I used to with Outlook because it never updated the paths properly – fucking useless program!

In any event, I’m going to start on some cleaning and then hopefully get myself to bed.

The DS Browser!

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

With being sick for the last week I was kind of itching to get out of the house. Last night I did some grocery shopping but tonight was more of the fun shopping kind of experience. I knew we were going up to Dover to pick up something ordered from Sears and then knowing that Sears is attached to the mall we also spent some time in there as well. I had about $60 worth of gift certificates for FYE.

I needed a new pair of head phones so naturally I picked that up first. I’ve been using the same pair for a while now and they just recently crapped out on me. However, this was only after I’d lent them to Sean when his messed up. He’s now got my headset with the mic attached so lets see how long those can last – heh. So that was $10 of the $60. I then dropped $30 on something that I thought was going to be the coolest thing since sliced bread – The DS Browser. Yep, I own it! I went to quite a few different websites and let me tell you folks – your sites look like complete shit on the DS browser! I’m one of them, my stylesheet isn’t even reading properly because the browser itself is based on an older version of Opera that doesn’t read CSS properly – at all.

Knowing that I recently installed the iPhone plugin for WordPress which can be customized but it removes all of your excess crap from the sidebars and just puts the blog entries on the website loaded through iPhone. It does not effect how your actual template looks for browser based viewers, that will still load your original template. The iPhone plugin basically just perks up your RSS template for iPhone only users and goes from there. At first I thought it was for any RSS reading device but the plugin was programmed to only read the iPhones operating system. Naturally, knowing there are a few sites that are PS3 compatible out there, I went in search for a DS based plugin.

The one I came across claims that it’s going to give you just a basic template but unfortunately after activating this plugin it managed to fuck up my entire website. I also attempted to load the site through my RSS Feeds but that didn’t work either because it’s telling me that my feeds don’t exist since that’s how Opera actually reads them. So either way I’m going to have to work on figuring something out. I’m sure that I could just create a plugin myself or I can start coming up with basic one column templates for a while, guess I’ll find out when I get there.

Other than the browser I managed to pick up Lego Star Wars. I know that sounds kind of strange but I’m slowly going to build up a nice database of DS games over time because I do literally play my DS on a daily basis. Up until a few weeks ago I was playing Mario non stop and then up until this afternoon I was playing Sonic Rush (highly recommended) now my newest addiction (if Sean ever gives back my DS) will more than likely be Lego Star Wars. I saw it on G4 a few days ago and thought it was the cutest thing ever, so naturally that’s the reason why I picked it up.

Our mission today was to find a Wii but naturally in a mall that’s close to impossible. We came up empty handed in that regard but at least we can now surf the internet without having to boot up a computer. If it didn’t take so long to type on the thing, I’d probably be using it to blog right now. But, I know that I’ve written over 600 words at this point and if I was writing this on the DS I’d be on sentence #2 and completion would be somewhere around 6am lol.

Note: If anyone comes across a plugin for WordPress that’s for the DS and actually WORKS please let me know!

Travel Plans: Alaska

Friday, July 13th, 2007

PPPWhen you’ve spent the last week being sick as a dog and just wanting to get out of the house; a high fever will sometimes cause you to drift off into many different worlds without even leaving the bed. For the last three days I’ve dreamed of being handed a lifetime supply of vouchers for plane tickets and from there I’ve had to decide just where I’d like to go.

Sure, I could hop on a plane and fix my cold by sitting on the beaches in Aruba but it’s also summer and I don’t like heat enough to be down there for that. With a fever it would just double my discomfort. I could always look into one of the northern most tips of Alaska because I know it can be pretty cold there year round, based on things that I’ve read at least. Considering I’ve been hanging out in the air conditioning for the last few days, this really wouldn’t be much different to me.

I’ve been watching that show Men in Tree’s a lot recently. I’m not sure exactly what it is about the show, other than the actual setting itself, but I’m drawn to Alaska, I always have been. This is because of my love for all things cold. I look at it this way, honestly. You can’t prepare for heat because there’s no possible way to take your skin off when you’re just too uncomfortable for words. You CAN prepare for cold because it’s always going to be easier to get warm than it would be to get cold. Because of this, when I happen to come into my millions over time, my house will be climate controlled and it will be 50-55¬?F on a year round basis.

Boy, that would be nice.

I’m doing the best I can!

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

I’m still not feeling very well but I’ve managed to catch up on all of the sleep that I’ve lost over the last couple of weeks. I’ve slept over 24 hours in the last two days and while that’s nothing I’m really proud of, I still at least am sleeping off the bacteria that’s infesting my once healthy body at the moment. Based on my inbox I really do have a lot of work to get around to. I’m working on making up a list for tomorrows things-to-do and I’ll hopefully be able to accomplish something on it. At this point it really depends on whether or not I have the ability to get out of bed tomorrow. I really hope I’m able to though, the house needs some cleaning up and I really need to disinfect the sheets in the bedroom so I can slowly start moving this bacteria out of the house before it hurts us all.

In order to avoid getting everyone else in the house sick, I’ve spent more time in the bedroom than any person should, sleeping or not. Sean, unfortunately, is starting to cough a little but I’ve made it a point to stay clear away from Karen because she has to work and I know she has an interview tomorrow as well. The last thing I need is for her to get sick when she’s in the market for a new job, you know?

I took Bella for a walk tonight. The poor thing didn’t get to go last night because of that stupid animal and tonight, I couldn’t take it anymore. Even being a dizzy girl I’m a stubborn one. I stayed on the main strip and made it a point to walk rather quickly. She did her business a few times and then we high-tailed it back to the house with the ‘quickness’, as my sister would say. At least she was able to take care of business and you can tell by her current temperament that she’s pretty darn happy at the moment. She went like six times, but two days of backed up food will do that to you. At least she’s done, that’s all that matters.

I am still behind on email, and more than likely will be for a few days. I know that there are about 3 of the $30 Deals waiting for me, two potential clients from AGn Designs and some advertiser looking into me for another one of my domains. I’ll get back to everyone as soon as I can, I promise.
