Where does it all come from?

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

A few people have asked me how I manage to maintain three blogs and never run out of anything to say. The real trick is that one, I have a creative streak going that never seems to end and two, I use not only my own resources (old entries to work off of, book topics, book ideas, music, etc) but I read other peoples blogs as well. I run a business and technology based blog on acidgloss.net. With all of the hype surrounding new technology these days it’s hard to run out of things to say there. I run my weight-loss blog over on curvy-chick.net, I’m spending every single day working on my diet from portion control to exercise so naturally I’m going to have a constant flow of topics there. Then there’s k.nu, it’s kind of my all-in-one blog. I blog about business, life, dieting, relationships and more.

If you just have one topic in your head then you can flow with it in so many different directions it’s unreal. I’m not the type of person that when something happens my first instict is to blog about it. While it may seem like it, I really don’t sit at my computer all day long, I just type very fast so it’s easy for me to get everything from my head to wordpress without wasting much time at all.

I’m still working on getting blog-ideas.net up and running, Sean has been slacking on programming the administration panel for me but he’s also working on his own stuff at the moment. I can’t interrupt his job just for a project site – you know? But the site is going to have everything from topic ideas to blog templates and even tips and tricks that have brought me to earn over $20,000 from my blog in the last year.

Cleaning + Stormy Weather + Work = GREAT DAY!

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I woke up with a mission and the concentration that I needed for the past few days. The kitchen was cleaned up, the coffee table is now cleared off and even the dining room received the touch-up it needed. Tomorrow, or maybe even before I go to sleep, I’ll wind up getting all of my laundry taken care of and I think I’ll float around the house with the vacuum as well considering it’s been a while since that was done.

A rather nasty storm rolled through here this afternoon and I’m happy I’d woken up just in time to be outside for the start of it. Nasty thunder and lightening for a few hours and two very scared puppies because of all the ‘boom booms’ as we call them. I had princess curled up on one leg and Bella basically trying to crawl behind me just for safety. For dogs with such big personalities when someone rings the door bell (bark central!) they’re kitty cats when it comes to thunder – go figure.

Minus the cleaning I had a fairly good day as far as business is concerned. I’m waiting on a few payments from clients but I count that as income for the 16th considering that’s when projects were completed. Now I just have to decide if I’m going to get Sean a Wii or a monitor for our anniversary. He told me he doesn’t want anything but you can’t NOT get someone something – you know?

Talk about BORING

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Today was kind of sluggish for me, not sure if it was based on the fact that it’s a Sunday or what, but either way I really didn’t accomplish very much. I did get some work done for a few clients. I also managed to get some posting done for advertisers on other domains. I’m working on rebuilding a few things that I’ve kind of left behind in the past. I setup a few banners for advertisers and that’s basically the bulk of my day.

The one thing I was unable to accomplish – at all – was anything home based. I set out to clean up the kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom and a much needed cleaning of the coffee table in the living room. I didn’t get around to doing any of it which is kind of annoying considering in a few moments Sean and I are going to retire to the living room for a little while and watch a movie. It’s hard to relax when theirs chaos going on around me. I may wind up starting on that clean up after I’m done posting here just so I can go in there and lay down to watch a movie without feeling over whelmed.

Mozilla Thunderbird I keep getting strange spam email to my girl@k.nu account, I may wind up moving things around there or just getting rid of the address in general considering everything is basically redirected to gmail anyway. I don’t even bother to log into websites for email anymore, I’ve got thunderbird housing about 8 email addresses at the moment – god I love this thing. Anything Mozilla touches upon is gold – I swear. I know it seems stupid to put up a screen shot but for those of you not using thunderbird, just the side panel alone can basically show you the perks of the program. Running multiple email addresses under one main login makes life very easy, especially when I’m working with clients on 3 different email addresses depending on where they came from. The cool thing about thunderbird is it’s networking capabilities. I’m running everything off of my external hard drive which can be accessed through my laptop as well, I don’t have to worry about just using one computer for email anymore, the way I used to with Outlook because it never updated the paths properly – fucking useless program!

In any event, I’m going to start on some cleaning and then hopefully get myself to bed.

The DS Browser!

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

With being sick for the last week I was kind of itching to get out of the house. Last night I did some grocery shopping but tonight was more of the fun shopping kind of experience. I knew we were going up to Dover to pick up something ordered from Sears and then knowing that Sears is attached to the mall we also spent some time in there as well. I had about $60 worth of gift certificates for FYE.

I needed a new pair of head phones so naturally I picked that up first. I’ve been using the same pair for a while now and they just recently crapped out on me. However, this was only after I’d lent them to Sean when his messed up. He’s now got my headset with the mic attached so lets see how long those can last – heh. So that was $10 of the $60. I then dropped $30 on something that I thought was going to be the coolest thing since sliced bread – The DS Browser. Yep, I own it! I went to quite a few different websites and let me tell you folks – your sites look like complete shit on the DS browser! I’m one of them, my stylesheet isn’t even reading properly because the browser itself is based on an older version of Opera that doesn’t read CSS properly – at all.

Knowing that I recently installed the iPhone plugin for WordPress which can be customized but it removes all of your excess crap from the sidebars and just puts the blog entries on the website loaded through iPhone. It does not effect how your actual template looks for browser based viewers, that will still load your original template. The iPhone plugin basically just perks up your RSS template for iPhone only users and goes from there. At first I thought it was for any RSS reading device but the plugin was programmed to only read the iPhones operating system. Naturally, knowing there are a few sites that are PS3 compatible out there, I went in search for a DS based plugin.

The one I came across claims that it’s going to give you just a basic template but unfortunately after activating this plugin it managed to fuck up my entire website. I also attempted to load the site through my RSS Feeds but that didn’t work either because it’s telling me that my feeds don’t exist since that’s how Opera actually reads them. So either way I’m going to have to work on figuring something out. I’m sure that I could just create a plugin myself or I can start coming up with basic one column templates for a while, guess I’ll find out when I get there.

Other than the browser I managed to pick up Lego Star Wars. I know that sounds kind of strange but I’m slowly going to build up a nice database of DS games over time because I do literally play my DS on a daily basis. Up until a few weeks ago I was playing Mario non stop and then up until this afternoon I was playing Sonic Rush (highly recommended) now my newest addiction (if Sean ever gives back my DS) will more than likely be Lego Star Wars. I saw it on G4 a few days ago and thought it was the cutest thing ever, so naturally that’s the reason why I picked it up.

Our mission today was to find a Wii but naturally in a mall that’s close to impossible. We came up empty handed in that regard but at least we can now surf the internet without having to boot up a computer. If it didn’t take so long to type on the thing, I’d probably be using it to blog right now. But, I know that I’ve written over 600 words at this point and if I was writing this on the DS I’d be on sentence #2 and completion would be somewhere around 6am lol.

Note: If anyone comes across a plugin for WordPress that’s for the DS and actually WORKS please let me know!

I’m doing the best I can!

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

I’m still not feeling very well but I’ve managed to catch up on all of the sleep that I’ve lost over the last couple of weeks. I’ve slept over 24 hours in the last two days and while that’s nothing I’m really proud of, I still at least am sleeping off the bacteria that’s infesting my once healthy body at the moment. Based on my inbox I really do have a lot of work to get around to. I’m working on making up a list for tomorrows things-to-do and I’ll hopefully be able to accomplish something on it. At this point it really depends on whether or not I have the ability to get out of bed tomorrow. I really hope I’m able to though, the house needs some cleaning up and I really need to disinfect the sheets in the bedroom so I can slowly start moving this bacteria out of the house before it hurts us all.

In order to avoid getting everyone else in the house sick, I’ve spent more time in the bedroom than any person should, sleeping or not. Sean, unfortunately, is starting to cough a little but I’ve made it a point to stay clear away from Karen because she has to work and I know she has an interview tomorrow as well. The last thing I need is for her to get sick when she’s in the market for a new job, you know?

I took Bella for a walk tonight. The poor thing didn’t get to go last night because of that stupid animal and tonight, I couldn’t take it anymore. Even being a dizzy girl I’m a stubborn one. I stayed on the main strip and made it a point to walk rather quickly. She did her business a few times and then we high-tailed it back to the house with the ‘quickness’, as my sister would say. At least she was able to take care of business and you can tell by her current temperament that she’s pretty darn happy at the moment. She went like six times, but two days of backed up food will do that to you. At least she’s done, that’s all that matters.

I am still behind on email, and more than likely will be for a few days. I know that there are about 3 of the $30 Deals waiting for me, two potential clients from AGn Designs and some advertiser looking into me for another one of my domains. I’ll get back to everyone as soon as I can, I promise.

New toys, very sick, rabid animals and more!

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

I’m fully aware of all of the email building up in my inbox but as of right now I just can’t get to it. I’m running a high fever, I can barely breath from being so congested, I’m cramping quite a bit due to an extremely heavy period – I’m just NOT having a good couple of days. If you’re a current client or even a potential one, please just be patient with me. There’s only so much I can do when it takes me a half hour to stand up without collapsing from the fact that I’m extremely dizzy at the moment. I’ll be in touch with everyone as soon as possible, I promise. Tony is handling hosting orders at the moment, I’ll get to the design aspect of things when I can.

Sean bought me a graphics card for our anniversary, we’re also going out to dinner next weekend as well. The card showed up today, he installed it after he got some of his own work done and I personally hadn’t been at the computer in the last 12 hours to see how things look. The clarity on the card is amazing and I’m back up to having my gig of installed ram being used on everything else, not being shared with a graphics card. He got me a 512 card, and it has the option for dual monitors as well – something I’ll more than likely have in the near future anyway. Everything does look great though, I really like it so far.

There is an animal running loose in the complex that’s more than likely rabid. Sean spoke to someone last night who said that some large grey cat attacked their pit bull. I saw this animal last night – foam dripping off his mouth. We called the police who wound up transferring us to a different county, explained the situation and an HOUR later animal control zipped through here quick and left. I saw it again tonight, we wrote a letter to the main office and hopefully home owners in the complex will be notified as soon as possible considering almost every other house has a dog in this place, it would be horrible if another one were attacked.

Go figure, I thought skunks were a big deal around here!

I knew this was coming…

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

I was feeling like crap for the last couple of weeks but last night and this morning have sent me on an emotional roller coaster to the level of complete annoyance. Before I went to sleep last night I noticed I was having a little bit of chest pain, I naturally assumed it’s because I’ve been smoking more lately based on whatever is going on with me psychologically that I just can’t figure out. When I woke up this morning, however, the pain was much worse than it was the night before and after straining to get out of bed for a good half hour, I went into the office and had Sean walk Bella for me. There was no way in hell I’d be going outside today, no way in hell. The humidity is coming through the walls and my only relief from it is sitting in the air conditioning, but this is causing some problems as well. It’s now very dry in here and I’m almost predicting a nose bleed coming along in the near future.

I was doing a lot of coughing today and based on what came up, green mucus mixed with a bit of blood, I now believe I have bronchitis and while I should probably be at the hospital, all they can really do for me is give me an antibiotic and tell me to take it easy. Well, I have antibiotics and I AM taking it easy so there’s really nothing more that I can do. It’s been a rather emotional day for me as well, though. I don’t know why but I’ve been a walking basket case, little things have triggered me into a breakdown. I started my period today also, sure that has something to do with it, either way I’m not a happy camper right now.

Bella is snoring her little face off, if I do actually happen to have bronchitis the last thing I need is for her to be in here with me, but I am unsure of whether or not dogs can get what humans have. Sean’s been keeping me company for most of the day, even though he fell asleep for a little while, but he tried. I want to assume that he’ll be sick soon too. It’s just looking to be a pretty bad week for me.

What’s for dinner?

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

I’m having trouble figuring out what I’d like for dinner tonight. I don’t feel like barbecuing and we don’t have any chop meat in the house either to even make burgers. The chicken is frozen as well so based on that alone I think it’s going to be a take-out night.

I’m in the mood for tacos, Sean doesn’t like tacos and while he said he could just go somewhere else for himself, it’s annoying taking two trips. I’m in the mood for a quesadilla because I had one at Friendly’s the other night but I’m not a big fan of the ones that they make at Taco Bell and I know nothing of the two Spanish restaurants in the area to give me any idea of how they rank amongst the locals. You have to remember that I came from Long Island, there was Spanish style cooking on every other corner.

There’s a place down here called Moe’s, Karen has told me on a few occasions that she hears they’re pretty good, I think I’m actually going to take the chance and try them out. Their menu looks pretty good, I just hope it tastes the same

Botox is hard to hide.

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Sean and I went to dinner tonight at Cracker Barrel and enjoyed a nice, some-what quiet, dinner after waiting in line for about 15 minutes or so to be seated. Up until about 4:30 this afternoon we didn’t actually realize that it was Friday so instead of driving over, we wound up just walking up knowing that we would more than likely not be able to find a spot anywhere in the entire lot that probably permits about 100 cars to park. It’s shares a parking lot with one of the hotels up the street as well, this was also packed thanks to the vast amount of vacationers that are currently in the area.

Our waiter was a pretty nice guy, more than likely from France considering that’s the only place that I could really place his accent from. He’d very obviously had some kind of plastic surgery because he had literally no lines in his face and I think botox was the factor there, lord knows it’s easy to find a plastic surgeon down here. He still had the little bit of swelling, I gave him a bit of an extra tip just so he could financially cover whatever he had injected into his face.

PPPKaren is considering botox, and has been for a while now. Recently her sister went in to get botox and the guy she went to wound up messing her up pretty bad, she looked like someone had beaten the crap out of her and for some reason, that no one understands, she’s decided to go back to the same doctor in order to have him fix it. Karen said it best when she threw her hands up in the air and said “Why go back to the same person who messed you up the first time?”. I have to say I completely agree with her but her sister is known for being stubborn which is probably why we all love her. I assume she was in some ritzy office like the one shown above. I know she went to a doctor in New York and they all over-price the simplest procedures just to make a quick buck on an unsuspecting victom. I’d honestly rather head out to Rodeo Drive or something where you know it’s going to be done right because there is a reputation to uphold, you know?

Would you ever consider botox? What do you think of not being able to show any real facial expressions for a few days after the fact?

WordPress Plugin for Paid Blogging

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Sean created a new plug-in that will more than likely help out many people looking to make the most out of paid posting, or just blogging in general. Most paid posting requires you to meet a minimum number of words before you can submit your post. Up until recently, however, the only Word Count hack available with WP 2.0+ only showed you the post count in the administration panel after you hit ‘submit’ or saved the draft and then went back to edit it later. This doesn’t help paid bloggers who have to work quickly, especially on PayPerPost, where offers are taken as quickly as they’re uploaded.

So he created a plug-in that’s WP 2.2 compliant called Leprakhauns Word Count which adds this real-time word count to your Write Post page in WordPress. It counts the true words in the entry, not the a href link attributes that can confuse most programs. You type your entry and hit “Calculate Words” and it doesn’t reload the page, it just shows up in the designated text area next to the button. I was using his original JavaScript one up until a few moments ago, now I’ve got the official plug-in itself tapped into there. I altered it a little bit for my own personal usage but that’s because I use a different administration panel theme for WordPress than the default that many people use.

Either way, if you’re an active paid poster and always having some trouble getting your numbers correct when submitting your post, this plug-in would more than likely be good for you.

Note: This hack will only work with WordPress 2.2. I’ve noticed when going back to edit a post that the calculate option doesn’t work but that could just be based on my own installation. Please report any problems with the script to Sean about that one.

Note #2: UPDATE! The hack has been fixed and should now work properly with all 2.2 installations. Entries may be a few words off depending on the fact if you’ve got hyphenated words in your entry. So right now figure I’m typing-up about ten words. Since the hyphen is between two words, it’s only listing it as 9. The script, at this moment, counts spaces between words. After that, however, it’s extremely accurate.

I think it’s time for a new car

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

For the past couple of years, Sean has been having some trouble with the radiator in his car. I think he’s replaced it about three times at this point and while I’d originally thought it was based on a malfunctioning thermostat, I later found out that the thermostat was new. I want to assume that the new one was faulty but either way more than enough money has been spent to get something fixed or replaced than there really should be. He currently has a Chevy Beretta which is basically what the Cavalier was based off of, so since it’s over 10 years old, naturally there are going to be some problems here and there.

What I found out through some random online information to be directed to a new resource, radiator.com, there are also a lot of problems with Integra radiators as well. There’s something about the new models of older cars that bring random faulty issues here and there. It’s not just the radiator though, it’s also cooling components as well.

Either way I think it’s time for him to start looking into a new car, I know Karen agrees as well. If something is 12 years old and causing nothing but problems, more than likely it’s time to move on, you know?

Anniversary … fast approaching

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Our anniversary is fast approaching and I’m itching to find out what exactly Sean has in store for me. I know we’re going to dinner and he, being as convincing as he is, managed to get what his gift was out of me. I’ve bought him a 19″ wide screen LCD monitor because the one he’s using now, my old one, is on the fritz – we think. We’re unsure if it’s his adapters, graphics cards or even just the monitor in general. However, the color quality is so screwed up that everything on the screen is literally too blurry for words so either way he’s getting a new one and that’s that.

This doesn’t help me out though, I really want to know what he’s got in store for me. I’m kind of wondering if a surprise flower delivery is going to show up. Maybe something special will be happening at dinner, I honestly don’t know, either way I’m itching to find out what it is. He won’t tell me anything and right now he’s trying to hide his credit card from my sight while he’s surfing around online, I have no way of figuring out what he’s doing over there either. I’m just a very nosy person, heh.

A pretty sucky day so far

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

I’m not sure if it’s the weather or not but I woke up feeling like complete crap today. My stomach is bothering me, my throat is a little scratchy and I’ve found that if I stand for too long I begin to get dizzy. The smell in the house doesn’t help very much either, multiple wee wee pads down and all of them filled up. Princess, yet again, missing one entirely so now that’s soaking into the rug. Since it’s too warm to open the windows the smell is just kind of lingering and it’s so potent to the point of making me nauseous on top of how bad I was originally feeling. I swear when Sean and I get out of here we’re going to just deal with hard because those naturally would require carpet for me.

Travel Plans: Las Vegas!

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Spending as much time as I have in Atlantic City I’m lucky enough to have numerous offers to head over to Las Vegas. The cool thing about the casino that I frequent is that I can literally book a flight for free that only holds 50 passengers at most and then the rooms for a 2-4 night stay at the casino in Vegas is completely free for me, you spend enough and you certainly get enough in return.

I’ve always kind of been interested in Las Vegas night clubs, honestly. You hear so much about them on TV and while I naturally wouldn’t want to go and deal with all of the trash that graces the precious television screen, I would love to see what these Vegas nightspots are like from the inside. Another cool thing about my comps is I’m able to get into these nightclubs for free as well, the ones affiliated with that casino chain at least.

I’m actually looking at one of the comps right now, flight for two out of a DE airport, limo service to and from air port in both DE and Vegas. King suites, food comps and much more. Gotta love having everything handed over to you when it comes to casinos, they really know how to treat their members – that’s for damn sure!

Moving is tricky

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Sean and I are still rather unsettled on the topic of where we’d like to move. Naturally price is a factor but location is also kind of a big deal for me. I’m currently 5 hours away from everything I’ve ever known and now he wants to go all the way to Ohio because he says he loves it out there. I’ve never been there before, but I also know that it’s even further away from Long Island than I am now. I’m sure at some point in time I’ll be traveling out there considering it’s where his brother currently lives but that doesn’t mean I know off the bat that I’m going to love it there enough to want to live there. Yes, for $5,000 we can get a trailer and spend $200 on lot rent. Financially that’s safe but I want something that’s mine, I don’t want lot rent I want a mortgage on land that I OWN so I can do with it what I please. I want a pool, I want a big fenced in back yard and I’d love to have a huge patio just to relax on without a care in the world. I don’t want to live in the middle of some redneck trailer park where everyone has two first names and even less teeth in their mouth.

Another big factor to moving is whether or not we’ll need to go through moving companies or if we’re going to truck everything there ourselves, maybe even just renting a uhaul but then we’d need some kind of auto transport just to get the car(s) out there if we’re driving the uHaul. We could get away with just a hitch with the uHaul but I’m sure we’d need a bit more room than we’re thinking now considering how much stuff the two of us have accumulated. I’ve downgraded a lot with the move, I threw out a lot more than I’d thought before moving down here. There would also just be a lot of crap to buy as well with furniture that we currently don’t have due to a lack of space, it’s just a whole big chunk of things to go through that I don’t, at this time, have the energy for.

I guess the only upside, at this point, would be the fact that I don’t have to worry about international shipping. Though, Canada does look fairly good to me considering I’d have to continue dealing with the bone head that’s running America.

I give up…

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

Nothing happened between my last post and now to give me any kind of inspiration for a July theme, as far as I’m concerned (at this point in time) there won’t be a change. Maybe something will trigger me in upcoming days, I know there’s a holiday around the corner, but I’m heavily doubting it at this point.

I have emails up the wazoo with bitchy people asking stupid questions. I’m not sure how but WordPress was bombed with spam that took me about a half hour of going through PHPmyADMIN just to delete and I’m craving coffee right now to keep me awake even though it’s after 3am and I should just go curl up with Sean and crash for the night, he’s been knocked out since 11:30 this evening!

I was going to barbecue tonight because I had a craving for smoked sausage and rice with basil but since I’m the only one in the house who eats rice, I was going to make baked potatoes for everyone else. The potatoes we have are not only too small to make a REAL baked potato,¬† but they’d also been on the counter for almost two weeks and were starting to root themselves to the bag. Needless to say, I needed to go to the store to pick up some more potatoes. After I’d told Sean about this he offered to just go pick up something for dinner and we wound up at Bona Pizza, he loves them – I hate them. So instead of eating nasty pizza, I had a calzone. Now, in NY calzones don’t come in two freaking sizes so I should have known right then and there that this was going to be interesting. I figured okay, the large so I’ll have something to eat tomorrow night. Little did I know they make their calzones almost the same way one would make a stromboli. Fold a pizza in half and throw some extra cheese in. So now I’m sitting there with my LARGE pie folded in half that’s overstuffed with cheese and sausage. This is not a calzone. Calzones have mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, ham, salami, pepperoni and sausage – unless you ask for straight cheese naturally. So I was a bit disappointed with dinner considering it had little chunks of sausage and about 10lbs of HORRIBLE cheese thrown in. It didn’t SUCK but even eating about a 1/4 of the thing – I can tell my stomach is going to be screaming at me for the rest of the week while I finish the fucker off. Any true Italian will know, food does NOT go to waste.

I have a taste for things, I grew up in New York so someone telling me that Grotto’s is the absolute best place in the world – I’ll naturally like to beat them senseless with a large trout. A good place in town is Louis, their pizza tastes the most like New York pizza minus the fact that yes, the crust is kind of thin. Sean likes more of a sweet sauce – he grew up in Jersey I wouldn’t expect any less – but he considers himself to be the master of Pizza…when you’re going to marry a New Yorker, your state of mind WILL change. He likes Bona because he basis the good stuff on the crust and theirs, yes, is thicker. It also tastes like straight flower – and not even semolina – what you’re SUPPOSED to cook with. The only place that I can say I enjoy the most, in this entire freaking state, is up in Georgetown they have a place called Bella Capri and when they say Calzone – you get a freaking calzone. Filled with the right stuff, the right AMOUNT of stuff and while their sauce is very bland (straight out of the can kind of bland) they include seasoning on the table so I can adjust it.

Either way, back to my original point; my mind sucks for not having any inspirational thoughts, my computer sucks for not finding me anything good, Google should die, no one in Delaware knows anything about good Italian food, tourists need to be shot considering Karen’s boy-toy was almost run over tonight, Bella and I almost got skunked on her walk tonight, spammers need to get off my back, and I’m freaking exhausted.

END RANT
