Men and Cars!

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Baby has been working very hard on an up and coming social networking site. The guy he’s working for has written a book and is a marketing genius so baby is confident that this is going to be a successful venture for him. There are already a few advertisers in place and if everything goes smoothly, he’s eventually coming into quite a bit of money. With this, he’s considering buying a new car.

His current car has over 150,000 miles on it, he’s had quite a bit of work done to it to keeping it running but the other night it wouldn’t start and that had us a little scared into thinking we’d have to change some plans around and make a car the first priority. The thing about him, however, is if he does happen to get a new car he wants to keep the current one and modify it a little bit. It’s in desperate need of a paint-job, this I won’t deny but he also wants to put on a SPOILER (which I find to be extremely ugly on cars), he’d probably even go as far as throwing on a wood grain steering wheel which I’m also not too fond of, but that’s because I’m really a fan of factory defaults. I don’t understand how someone could spend a lot of money into car modification – then again, I’m not a man either and 90% of the time they take more pride in their cars than they do their own appearance – freaky right?

So while he was looking for car ideas, we came across yocar.com. They’ve got everything from wood dash kits to rear spoilers. I poked around the site for a little while and the cool thing is they’ve got video tutorials on how one would go about installing these products. I personally think if you’re going to do any modifications on a car, go to a professional but that’s based on the fact that Joe attempted to setup some kind of a velvet dash kit on his car and wound up destroying it. He was also known for taking all interior off the doors and kind of…leaving it there lol. So this of course is why I’m recommending that Baby see a professional but if he wants to take pride in his work, at least I know there’s going to be a video resource for him to reference back to.

Rethinking things…

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Part of me thinks that it was a mistake having my email being linked from both computers. Yes, as far as keeping track of everything is concerned it’s nice to have it linked off the external hard drive but there’s such a lag going on with the network that it’s making it very difficult for me.

At first I thought it was my spy ware program because it scans the email as its downloaded but I disabled it and there’s still a pretty nasty lag. I’m unsure of what to do at this point other than stopping the transfer and only having email on one of my computers. I don’t personally like that idea considering I’d rather not have two PC’s on at once but I don’t know if I’m going to have a choice in the near future if this keeps up. Maybe things will be different when we get the rooms rearranged. There’s a chance that I’ll be back in the office a bit more once things aren’t so cramped. I need to get myself a desk and a new chair. I found a really nice desk in Big Lots for about $120. There was enough room on the top shelf for 3 monitors, a pull out drawer underneath for the keyboard/mouse and a shelf on the side for the tower so I don’t have to worry about it being on the floor anymore. Static electricity is pretty bad for computers and at the rate of static build up in this house, it’ll be a safer way to do things.

After things slow down with birthdays, I guess we’ll start working on things. Baby has assured me that once he buys Kay’s birthday gift the rooms will be moved around. That’s the only reason he’s been working as hard as he’s been. The problem at the moment, however, is I think he’s playing Halo. I’m not sure but I’m almost positive that he’ll come out here sometime in the near future and tell me exactly what he’s doing considering he checks my site every day – heh.

[update – yep, he was lol]

Fun, Fun, Fun

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

It’s been a pretty good day. Baby and I headed out to Walmart, as planned, and wound up stopping at the liquor store before they closed. We picked up some MaiTai mix, mango rum, wine and beer. Crossing the street we got everything we needed from Wal-mart as well. We needed a gas lever for the propane tank on the barbecue and my original goal for getting there was picking up some canned chicken for Bella but there’s still nothing on the shelves which ticked me off. I did get some more 100 calorie packs because I’m in love with those things.

The childish side of us, however, kind of went a little nutty. We picked up a huge pink bouncy ball because it was only $2.50 and I’m a sucker for new toys. We also picked up a couple $1.00 water pistols and after dinner we kind of attacked each other with them, it was a lot of fun though so at least we know that we don’t have to spend much to have fun.

Tomorrow is officially Memorial Day which you wouldn’t know considering all of the barbecue’s and parties going on in the complex. Part of me wishes I had a picnic table in the back yard so that we could be outside as well but that’s alright. Baby and I are happy on the porch with our drinks.

Maybe we’ll wind up going back out there later after the two of us get some work done.

Early Day

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

I didn’t get to sleep until after 5am but due to a ringing phone early this morning I woke up about 10am. I’m not sure who called but considering the number was listed as “Blocked Call” all I can really say that it’s either a very rude telemarketer or a bill collector. Either way I believe calling anyone before noon on a Sunday, unless they’re expecting to hear from you – is extremely RUDE. I don’t like to listen to ringing phones either way but I think on a weekend it’s even worse considering Sunday is typically someone’s day off from work, the last thing they need is to hear a phone ringing at 9am on the only day they have to sleep in and catch up on the hours lost during the week getting up for work.

Baby is still asleep but it’s not rare for him to sleep past noon when he goes to bed late in the morning. We’re supposed to head to Wal-mart today to pick up a gas lever because we’re unsure of how much is left in the tank on the barbecue and the last thing we need is for it to burn out while we’re cooking dinner tonight. Hopefully they’ll actually be one there, but considering the tank is getting kind of light, something tells me we’re going to have to fill it up anyway. I’ll let him sleep for a little while longer but if he’s not up by 2, I’ll have to go pounce on him.

What’s he bitching about?

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Baby has a bit of downtime for work because one of his bosses hasn’t gotten back to him yet. He’s decided to beta test with Halo 3 for a little while and I don’t know who he’s playing with but he’s been yelling a bit at one of his team members. I want to assume that the person he’s playing with doesn’t know much about Halo because he can’t keep up with the rest of the pack. I also know that I don’t know how to play the game or even what’s going on so knowing what he’s bitching about is new to me as well. Maybe he’ll blow of some steam though, he’s been a little agitated lately because of money issues and the fact that I’ve been asking him too many questions lately. But hey, that’s better than me throwing all of his shit out because I don’t know if it’s supposed to stay or go – silly men.

Not too bad.

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

I woke up rather late today but that’s because I didn’t get to sleep until about 5am. We wound up going to Milford last night, there’s a Big Lots there plus a 24-hour Wal-mart so we were basically shopping until about 1am before we took the half hour drive home. I went a little over budget yesterday but that’s mainly because I treated everyone to dinner last night. We went to Applebee’s after Big Lots and that ran about $50, so when I spent over $40 in Wal-Mart I knew I’d gone over. This is fine, however, because at least I’ve got the money to cover it anyway.

I’ve been rather productive today. I had my coffee and some quaker rice cakes so I only took in about 100 calories so far. I watered the flowers, cleaned out the bathroom, cleaned the bedroom. I made a quick snack for Baby and I so that we could put some real food in our stomachs as well. While I was outside I washed the cars as well, they were getting kind of dusty because of the trees in the area so I made it a point to get all of the dust off the windows especially – makes it difficult to drive if you don’t. Now I’m sitting here going through email so I can get started on my work day. I do intend to have the bedroom vacuumed and the kitchen straightened up.

We bought a lot of meat last night, we’re going to be barbecuing quite a bit this weekend considering it’s a holiday. Kay has a few extra days off so she’s going to paint her bathroom, bathe the dogs and then get some other things done around the house that she’s been putting off for a while. Baby will basically only have to barbecue but at least that will keep him entertained for a little while. It pushed 90F today and since the UV index is rather high I hope to have gotten some color with everything I was doing outside.

I guess I should get my ass in gear on some work. I’ve been slacking on my $20-$30 a day blogging goals so hopefully I can get back on track with that. Even then I could probably average about $750-$900 a month – not bad for a few minutes of work a day.

Halo 3 Beta

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Someone left a comment today that I felt I should respond to, to avoid future confusion.

My boyfriend is currently a beta tester for Halo3, he was chosen by Bungie (the games creators) since he’s been playing for so long and I guess he’s got so many awards in his database or something from playing the game. I don’t know how it works so don’t ask me. Being selected by Bungie was one of two ways for users to be a beta tester for Halo3, the other way to do this was to purchase the game ‘Crackdown’ and then go from there. When the beta first started, crackdown members were having trouble accessing the game and weren’t really able to play until about 12-13 or so hours into the beta. Up until then Baby had already been playing for a few hours anyway.

The game is actually fairly interesting. He’s running it on my HD LCD so the color quality really is pretty good, he’s got some extra fans on his XBox360 that make things pretty loud in there, this is why I’ve been in the living room while he’s playing. It sounds like there’s a mini motorcycle idling next to the television.

I have no idea what they’re actually doing – I just know they shoot people and whoever kills the most gets more points for that round. Right now the only thing out for the beta is multi player, there’s no story mode.

Those who were unable to get involved in the beta, based on what Baby has told me about the game – the price tag will be more than worth it. I believe he’s already put a down payment on the pre-sales, they don’t come out with the actual game until September, maybe I’ll be nice and get it for him as a birthday gift, who knows.

But yea, to answer your question Mark – it looks really cool, graphics are great and minus a very noticeable lag at certain times of the day – Halo3 is probably going to trump the previous games – dramatically.

Sluggish

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

I woke up around 11 this morning after approximately 5 hours of sleep. Unfortunately Baby was having trouble breathing through his nose so it made it difficult for me to get any sleep with him honking away. My stomach is cramped up like no tomorrow and the only thing that the Midol is doing for me is putting me to sleep. This makes it very difficult for me to get any work done consider my eyes continue to close on me.

Bella is being extra clingy today for some reason and I honestly have no idea why. She won’t get off my lap and it’s making it difficult for me to getting things done as well. My arm is close to falling asleep because of the pressure she’s putting on it, part of me wonders if taking a nap would really be worth it. My entire body wants to go to sleep anyway, maybe I should listen to it?

I made lunch a little while ago, home made pizza. It turned out pretty good. I didn’t eat much of it because of how my stomach has been feeling but I enjoyed my portion. Food Lion has a 10 for $10 deal going on right now and I picked up some of those “Take & Bake” loafs of bread. You throw them in the oven at 400?Ǭ?F for about 12 minutes and they cook up almost as good as regular fresh baked French bread.

I haven’t gotten much work done today. I did get quite a bit of emails processed though it’s just the sake of actually working on the important things that’s got me on edge. I can’t keep my eyes open either so that certainly doesn’t help. There’s got to be something I can do that doesn’t require taking a nap.

Having a bit of trouble…

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

I’ve been looking at the screen for so long that now I’m to the point of having trouble seeing. I’m no where near where I need to be, so going to sleep seems like a downright bad idea. I just know that if I can get a few hours of rest maybe I can be more productive. I don’t know, it’s probably just me complaining for no reason.

Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have better luck with getting everything done. I did get a template out of the way for a client. I very quickly put the finishing touches on the June theme because I know for sure that I won’t have the time to do it when other projects start. There’s a little bit to do but it’s only about 15 minutes of work in total so I’m sure I can get that taken care of tomorrow morning after I wake up.

My stomach is still bothering me, only this time it’s not that something didn’t agree with me it’s the fact that I’m close to toppling over in pain from the cramps. Midol isn’t working, I’m tempted to take a vicodin but then I know for sure I’ll have to get some sleep and I’d rather not knock out for 12 hours. Hopefully 4-5 hours will be the ticket, it’s what I’ve basically been doing anyway.

Baby’s in the office playing Halo3, he’s been working his ass off for the last few days because his mother’s birthday is coming up and he wants to get her a somewhat pricey gift so he’s knocking projects out as quickly as possible just to get all of that taken care of. He’s also sick as a dog so that isn’t helping much either, poor thing can barely breath but he’s getting shit done and I guess that’s all that matters.

In any event, I think I’m going to write-up tomorrow’s To-Do list and sign off for the night so I can get some sleep. My eyes kind of just crossed on each other and I really, REALLY hate when that happens!

Getting Sleepy

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

It’s a little after 4am and I honestly have no reason as to why I’m still up this late. I woke up around 10:30 this morning which seems to be a consistent time, no matter what time I happened to get to sleep the night before. I’m sure there’s something I could be doing right now to keep me entertained but while I’m finding it hard to get to sleep, my eye lids are growing to be very heavy and I can’t seem to concentrate on anything.

My back was bothering me for the bulk of the day, I can’t wait until all of the birthdays are taken care of so I can start putting money towards my next big purchase – a new bed. Baby and I plan on moving the rooms around soon. We’ll hold off on the bed purchase but I do still need to get about $100 together. It’s going to cost me around $25 to get the closet taken care of because there’s no shelving in there. Another $25 should cover a few baskets. I won’t have a real ‘dresser’ so I’m going to take three baskets and divide my things reasonably. One basket for underwear, one for socks, one for bras. It’ll make life a little easier in the end, at least I won’t have to dig through a single drawer to try to find what I’m looking for. I’m sick of picking up underwear thinking I finally found the bra I was just digging for. There’s very limited space at the moment, this is why I only have one drawer. The rest of the money is for some shelving around the room. Since there’s limited floor space, we’re going to utilize the wall space. Since I’m lucky enough to have an LCD TV, it’s easier to mount that on the wall than it would be to find a thin book case to throw in the corner of the room.

I’m sure everything will figure itself out though, I’m probably just letting off some kind of steam because there’s no one awake to talk to. Princess is crying to get out of the bedroom but I think that’s because I just finished heating up some food for Bella. She’s asleep but I know she randomly wakes up during the night to pick at things. She doesn’t really eat much during the day so that’s really the only way to get food in her stomach. Walmart has been out of chicken all week so I don’t know what else to feed her. I’ve started on some sliced turkey, hopefully they’ll last long enough for me to figure something else out.

Baby’s been asleep for the last few hours, maybe I’ll go in there to curl up with him and hopefully knock out for the night. UHT, Bella’s scratching at the door – guess I should get in there ASAP before she wakes everyone up!

Is everything backwards?

PPPBaby is a bit of a dyslexic. It’s been an on-going problem for him for basically his entire life. He’s been through testing and reading programs and what not but he still has trouble with things sometimes. There’s a resource online that offers a reading program developed to defeat dyslexia. It’s dyslexiadecoded.com; Free Help for Dyslexia. The site isn’t entirely for dyslexia, they also help adults whom have trouble reading, for a myriad of reasons including a lack of a formal education when they were growing up. They offer a few courses; Teach Baby the ABC’s, Alphabet Course, Silent Association, Decoding, Basic Reading Skills and Advanced Reading Skills.

Official Press Release:

Dyslexia? Now there is Free Help

Now there is free online help for people who have dyslexia or simply did not learn to read well while going to school. It is a click-?¢‚ǨÀún-learn program. Students and adults may learn decoding, basic reading skills, and advanced reading skills all with the click of a mouse.

The program is called ReadingBySix. It provides a systematic approach to helping people defeat dyslexia and related reading problems. You will notice measurable progress from week to week provided participants are active in their studies and do their assignments. The online courses are virtually free when you give a small donation. If you choose not to donate, they are completely free.

Dyslexia is a distinct learning disability characterized by difficulties in decoding individual words. These difficulties may not show up in other cognitive and academic abilities. Dyslexia results from the confusion caused by the brain?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s inability to associate abstract symbols with abstract ideas. This includes associating letters and words with the sounds they represent. The key to defeating dyslexia is learning to decode English sounds.

You are invited to review the website and take a few of the courses for practice and learn how the program works. Then use it to teach your children or students to read. It can be used for preschool, home school, grade school, or high school. Students, adults, and children can use it. It teaches reading 100% of the time and it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s all electronic. If you know of people who need help, please tell them about ReadingBySix: http://www.dyslexiadecoded.com/

Still Talking…

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Baby and I have been doing really well lately. We’re still continuing to talk about future plans, marriage – children – houses – etc. One topic that I’m sticking to my guns with, however, is the actual engagement itself. I’m a girl, a tom boy but probably a girlie-girl at heart, so naturally a diamond engagement ring appeals to me. I know the exact cut, size, clarity and everything else involved. He, on the other hand, is a typical man and would walk into a jewelery store and be suckered into a ring by a sales clerk that not only is going to cost him an excessive amount of money but there’s a 90% chance that I’ll find it ugly. This is why it’s important for every person to have at least one Gay friend, I don’t care how stereotypical it sounds but every gay man in my life would more than likely take Baby shopping just so he gets the ring right.

Accomplished

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I don’t know if it’s based on the fact that I’m living in a new house, or if it’s just my mood these days but I’ve found myself being more productive down here than I ever was in New York. Sure, I’d cook and clean all day long on top of getting my work done but I take a little more pride in my work down here for some reason and I’m not quite sure why. I feel more accomplished when I’m done.

I got the kitchen taken care of tonight. The vacuuming was done and the coffee table is sparkling right now. It’s easier to relax in a clean room anyone knows this. It’s hard to keep a clean house with three dogs and a few pack rats. Since Kay and I were sick this past week there was an over abundance of tissues laying around on the coffee table mixed with her nicorette packets, those are easy to clean though. I moved some things out of the living room that I’ve been meaning to get rid of for the last couple of weeks. I’d brought a keyboard and stand down here for baby to hook up when we get the rooms rearranged, now that it’s out of the living room the entire room just looks much larger.

I hope we’re able to get the rooms rearranged sometime soon. This way I can start unpacking everything off my desk. I’m going to need to pick up a shelving unit for the closet so I can get my clothes transferred over to the new closet. He’s going to keep his where they are because in the long run it’ll be easier. This way he gets his closet back and I get to have my own again. That’ll be sweet, real sweet. He can keep his as dirty as men usually do and I get to have a neat and tidy one just for me. :w00t:

I have some more work to get done, guess I should get started on that.

Lose one, gain one.

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I woke up about 10:30 this morning feeling much better than I have in the past week. My cold is close to gone but now I’ve given it back to Baby so he’s not feeling too well :heh:

I didn’t get to sleep until rather late last night, there was a spill in the fridge that required immediate attention. A bottle of chocolate sauce kind of exploded in the back of the fridge and basically everything in there needed to be thrown out. I then spent about an hour scraping all the chocolate off the shelf. Now the fridge looks close to brand new, but it also looks empty. I’d rather it be empty than full of bacteria though. I also made it a point to throw out a lot of food that I’ve been putting off for a while. I need to get the door cleaned off too, that’s starting to build up a little bit of gunk. There’s opened bottles of stuff that no one is ever going to use so there’s no real need for it to be in there anyway.

While I’m no longer dealing with a cold, my stomach doesn’t seem to be agreeing with me very much today either. I don’t know if it’s something I ate yesterday or just a reaction to stress but I’m really nauseous and even crackers aren’t subsiding the feeling. I should probably be laying down right now but there’s a cool breeze coming in from outside that I won’t be able to get in the bedroom. There’s only one big window in there and with the placement of windows across the hall it just wouldn’t do much for a cross breeze.

I’ve got Princess snoring on the left of me and Bella snoring at my feet – at least my toes are warm…heh.

Dream Manifestation

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

PPPWhy are some people more successful than others in fulfilling their dreams? Isn’t it astonishing how some people fail all the time, while others turn everything they touch into gold? This is a question at the back of anyone’s mind who just can’t get a break in life. Things brings me to a conversation I was having with Baby the other night.

We were talking about successful sites on the internet, primarily about multi-million dollar companies. Take Paypal for example, when they were first starting out they paid someone a fairly decent amount of money just to create their logo. Using basic text with a few styling’s this person earned quite a bit of money. When Paypal was bought by Ebay, this person earned a few million dollars. He then used his knowhow to be one of the co-creators of YouTube, this site was recently bought out by Google for 1.65 BILLION. No matter what this guy does, he’s earning more and more money left and right.

Dream Manifestation WizardThen there are people like us, working stiffs who work our hardest and can’t seem to catch a break in life. Turning things into gold are dreams that don’t seem to ever come true. I then came across the Dream Manifestation Wizard. They claim to have a scientific method that manifests your dreams into reality. Manifesting your dreams does not depend on your education, on your ethnicity or heritage, and in no way is it determined by your environment. It’s only a result of your thinking.

This brings me back to “The Secret” where it’s based on the Law of Attraction don’t think “I’m in debt, I need to get out of debt” wipe the term DEBT from your vocabulary completely. Work hard, don’t think about the money that’s going out, think only about the money coming in and supposedly this will balance your life out.

I think the Dream Manifestation Wizard may help you reach your goals, or at least help you in getting closer to them. The only way to get anywhere in life is if you try. Sitting back and waiting for opportunities to fall in your lap won’t help you out in the long run – people are by no means that lucky. Working hard and thinking positively is really the only way to go, I think.

Fresh Start

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

After getting the blue screen of death on my laptop a few times today, I decided that it was time to completely reinstall windows and start fresh. The first format didn’t want to work but that’s the one Baby did for me. The one I did for myself seemed to process OK, so it went from there. I couldn’t find any of my disks so I was unable to get any drivers working the way they were supposed to. Baby spent a few minutes on it and now everything is up and running exactly where it’s supposed to be. I almost forgot about how fast this thing could process things. I don’t like having to reinstall windows but something told me this was bound to happen considering it’s about a week after my 1-year warranty expired. I truly believe computer companies program something into windows so it crashes about a week after warranties expire. Every computer I’ve ever owned has crashed after warranties expired. I ran one fine for 3 years with no problems, the day the warranty was up – it was gone. Or maybe I’ve just got bad luck surrounding me, I don’t know.

Either way I have a lot of programs to install so I guess I should get my ass in gear.
