Lack of Inspiration

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

I’ve been working hard on getting blog-ideas.net up and running. I’m currently in the process of coding the administration panel. I’ve got Sean programming the database end of things. He’s been programming quite a bit lately so naturally I’ll throw it his way. I’m rusty with it, I do little edits here and there but I don’t have the patience to sit down and actually code something from start to finish. He asked me why I need an administration panel considering the bulk of the code is randomly generated but I just think it’s easier to have one, honestly. I know it’s only random one liners but I like to keep track of everything. I’m also working in the ability for visitors to submit their own ideas and be credited for it. In some regard it’s almost like using a guestbook, it’s just going to be a little bit more advanced.

I didn’t get around to doing anything k.nu based today, as far as posting goes. I was just too busy working on other things. I finally got WordPress working for Dick so now his admin panel is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. I was in touch with Shauna about some work with her, I’ll be working on that for the next few weeks. I have loads of ideas in my head and mixing them with what she gave me should turn into something nice.

I’m having trouble being creative though, this is why I feel like I’m lagging. Baby and I haven’t gone to the beach in quite some time. With the weather changing as frequently as it does and other factors being thrown in there, we can’t walk along the boardwalk the way we used to. And now with the fact that he managed to fuck up his knee somehow, we just can’t go anywhere – it sucks. Hopefully he’ll heal up so I can go listen to the water again, that’s the only place I truly got any kind of a creative streak. Granted, having a new desk/office arrangement has helped a bit, I just need an outside source as well. I’m going to thumb through a few of my design books, maybe I can find some color combination to inspire me.

Still working on getting things in order…

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

I’ve gotten a lot done today. I woke up and went through my morning routine and then got the rest of my laundry done. The last load is in the dryer now so hopefully it’ll be done in time for me to get out of here later. I believe Kay and I are going up to Milford to pick up a few things from Big Lots then I’m almost certain we’re going to Wal-mart afterwards to get some shopping done as well.

She’s got company coming this weekend, Baby personally hates this woman but I don’t know her yet so I can’t really have an opinion yet. I’m sure by Saturday you’ll hear something out of me in regards to this woman, no doubt about it. She’s a smoker and with Princess being sick, Candy being rather old and Bella just never having to breath in smoke (I make sure of that) Baby and I are on Kay’s case to get her to smoke outside. Hopefully that actually works out.

I’m having some major issues with WordPress at the moment. I’m trying to get the Visual Text Editor to work for a client and no matter what I do the damn thing won’t show up. I’m waiting on a response so that I can upgrade to the newest version in hopes that it resolves the issue but something tells me that it more than likely won’t be the case, this is why I submitted a support ticket on wordpress.org in hopes to get some answers. There has to be something that I’m overlooking I just have no idea where to even begin.

I received an email today that I’m working on responding to. Someone contacted me about site work that could potentially fill my schedule for a while depending on how well it goes. I’m also working on other things so as far as income goes, I’m set for quite some time.

Finally Unpacked!

Monday, June 4th, 2007

It took me a lot longer than originally anticipated but I’ve finally gotten the last box unpacked. My side of the office is a little stuffy now though, I think I’m going to have to do some cleaning out but at least all of my important items are back to where they need to be, this naturally makes me a very happy girl.

I’m getting some design work done, thumbing through code figuring out what’s messed up for a client (and where) and I’m also waiting on a response from a few people in regards to more work so I should be OK financially for birthdays and what not. Baby and I have our one year coming up in July so I also need to get some cash together for that. The problem is a month later is also his birthday. Birthdays are very spread out for me, but they all come in a cluster for some reason. No big deal though, I made about $80 blogging yesterday (not bad, eh?) so that’ll cover dinner with Kay and for her birthday on the 9th. We’re most likely going to the Roadhouse, she appreciates good steak heh.

Clairaudience

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Recently, just for fun, Baby and I had a sit down with a psychic who told me that my “aura” is pink, I’ve also been told that it alternates between pink and light shades of green. I never quite understood what any of it meant so I looked it up on Google and came up with the following:

Pink-bright and light: Loving, tender, sensitive, sensual, artistic, affection, purity, compassion; new or revieved romantic relationship. Can indicate clairaudience.

Green: Relates to heart and lungs. It is a very comfortable, healthy color of nature. When seen in the aura this usually represents growth and balance, and most of all, something that leads to change. Love of people, animals, nature; teacher; social.

Another resource told me that Green means healing. I assume it’s based on my year of mourning over Joe. Days are much easier on me now, I do still think about him a lot but I also know that he’s around me when I need him.

I had to do a little bit of research on the Pink Aura though, quite a few resources told me that pink indicates “clairaudience”. I had no idea what this meant either, but Wiki is great for things like this.

Clairaudience
In the field of parapsychology, clairaudience [from late 17th century French clair (clear) & audience (hearing)] is a form of extra-sensory perception wherein a person acquires information by paranormal auditory means. It is often considered to be a form of clairvoyance.[10] Clairaudience is essentially the ability to hear in a paranormal manner, as opposed to paranormal seeing (clairvoyance) and feeling (clairsentience). Clairaudient people have psi-mediated hearing. Clairaudience may refer not to actual perception of sound, but may instead indicate impressions of the “inner mental ear” similar to the way many people think words without having auditory impressions. But it may also refer to actual perception of sounds such as voices, tones, or noises which are not apparent to other humans or to recording equipment. For instance, a clairaudient person might claim to hear the voices or thoughts of the spirits of persons who are deceased. Clairaudience may be positively distinguished from the voices heard by the mentally ill when it reveals information unavailable to the clairaudient person by normal means (including cold reading or other magic tricks), and thus may be termed “psychic” or paranormal.

I personally found this to be a bit strange considering I don’t pay much attention to this kind of stuff but to some degree, strangely enough, it makes sense. I assume it means that I may possibly be right when I know that Joe is around. The wind, shooting stars, animals acting up, could all be signs of this. Maybe I’m just tapped into it in regards to “nature” which I guess would explain the green aura. Either way I think it’s fairly interesting information to know, even if I don’t quite believe it.

Gaming isn’t my cup of tea.

So I decided to see what the big deal with Halo was. I’ve never really played any kind of video game other than Mario on my DS so having to maneuver this dude around proved to be rather difficult for me. I don’t see myself ever playing again, even though Baby insists that all I really need to do is get used to the controller. I know how to use the controller for Hexic and that’s all that it’s ever going to be used for.

My stomach is bothering me but that’s because I ate too much at dinner. I’m done with email checks, I only have to email two people back in regards to design work and then I’m done for the night. Considering it’s after 1am I doubt I’m going to be up for very long anyway.

Breaking

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

The rain is starting to let up around here so I’m sending Baby out to get some dinner. I’m breaking my diet but it’s mainly because I don’t have enough energy to cook anything and although no one in the tri-state area knows anything about pizza, I’m still going to suck it up and have him go and get some. There’s a place up in Lewes or something that’s owned by a guy who used to have a place in Jersey so I wanted to assume that he knew a thing or two about pizza. Their sauce kind of sucks but the crust is OK, either way I’m not going to be shoving veggies in my face tonight, I don’t have the energy for it.

Future Vacation Plans

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Baby is currently working on a site for a guy that lives out in California. I’m not sure where he lives exactly but I know with popular places like Hollywood, Los Angeles, San Diego, Silicon Valley and San Francisco, you’re bound to find something of interest. With the site he’s working on, I know that eventually we’re going to be heading out to California so part of me wonders how well that’s going to go over.

I do know that once this site launches he’s bound to come into a decent amount of money and I know that we’re planning on doing quite a bit of traveling with it, after we get a house and other things taken care of like paying off the credit cards and what not. He wants to go to California which is fine because that’s where his boss is. I, on the other hand, think that if I’m going to travel I want to go somewhere with a bit more history like Rome or London. I’ve always been itching to go to Europe, it’s going to continue to be a life-long dream for me though, I know it for sure.

Emergency

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

We were out for quite a bit of time today to come home and find out that one of the dogs is pissing blood. Kay is sure it’s a urinary tract infection because it’s spotty but the problem is that we didn’t know who it was, until Princess squatted. I was relieved to know it wasn’t Bella but at the same time it was bitter sweet because I adore Princess, it’s hard not to love a dog that’s too fat for her own good but so damn cute about everything she does. So now we’re on our way up to Dover to the 24 hour animal hospital in hopes to get a good response. Baby believes it’s internal bleeding because Princess isn’t acting like herself, Kay on the other hand knows that Princess has gotten these infections before and she just needs antibiotics. Either way I hope it’s nothing overly serious or this is really going to suck.

EEk! I’m late!

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

I’ve only been up for about an hour and already my entire day is basically fucked. My alarm never went off so a knock at the door an hour after I was supposed to wake up put me in a rushed-funk as I like to call it. I had my coffee to kick that just woke up feeling, smoked my cig because that has to be done within the first half hour or it throws off my whole routine, took a shower and now with a little bit of time to spare I’m going through all of my email. I don’t like waking up early on a Saturday but the flea market is only open until about 5:00 and it’s noon now, it’s going to take us about an hour to get there too.

It’s already 85¬?F (29¬?C) and it’s supposed to continue to rise throughout the day. It’s also a fairly high UV index AND it’s humid on top of that so within a half hour I’m not only going to be dehydrated, I’ll be burnt to a crisp. I can’t even wear shorts because I have a few large mosquito bites on my legs that’s stopping me from shaving them to the same closeness that I always do. On top of that I also haven’t gotten around to doing my toe nails either. I took the polish off two days ago before I showered and never quite got around to putting any back on. My toes feel naked without polish, I’m strange like that.

Baby just got in the shower a few moments ago. Once he’s done in the bathroom I should be able to get my hair done and hopefully we’ll all be out of here. I’m going to find something to eat before we go, I don’t need to get light headed at this thing too. We’re going to be walking for 4 straight hours so at least I’ll be able to get back on track with the exercise, considering it’ll be in 90¬?F (32¬?C) heat. Can’t forget my water bottles. I should probably bring the larger purse to hold all of this stuff – shouldn’t I? Time to down a couple 100 calorie packs to get my energy up. The coffee didn’t do such a hot job yet, then again – one cup typically doesn’t do anything for me.

Random Bellyaching

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

I’m not sure when they implemented it into their system but PPP has finally edited their code to show you when an offer has already been taken. I know a few people who have walked away from their program because they were unable to find any opportunities to post on. Now they’ve labeled things for you so you know before you click if it’ll even be worth your time. Green means it’s a featured post, pink means that you’re not eligible, white means that you can take the offer and grey means that the offer has yet to expire but there are no longer posts available. Naturally I wonder why they even bothered with the grey considering no one can post there so more than likely no one is even going to bother reading it. The advertiser has already gotten their money’s worth so it makes no sense to me but I didn’t code their database so in the end that’s just the way things are.

I’m not quite done with all of my email checks but that’s because I keep getting side-tracked with things. It’s also a little hard to do anything at the moment considering how hot it is in the office right now. Baby seriously needs to invest in LCD monitors because the CRT’s are giving off so much heat it’s unreal. The television also plays a roll. I know the computers do as well, I just wish there was a way to work around it. We’re going to be investing in some fans this week. I think we were going to put one or two in here and we’re definitely going to be putting one in the bedroom because that room is like a heat-box at night with the two of us so close together in such a small bed. There’s got to be a way to increase your tolerance to eat. It’s not like I can roll around in ice before I go to bed and I sure as hell can’t take my skin off either. Hopefully the fans will resolve this issue.

At the moment we just have a full sized mattress on the floor. We’ll eventually be upgrading to a king sized bed that will actually have a box-spring and frame so we’re going to need a fan that sucks the air up from the ground and spews it back at us. I found a fan that sucks the air in on one vent and blows it out from another. So we could have the ‘suck-in’ side right next to the air conditioning vent and then the blow-out side angled straight to the bed. It sounds more complicated than it really is but I’ve had to do something similar in New York. Living in a brick building for 20 years, you learn a few tricks of the trade about how to get things to work with you in the summer. Brick naturally holds heat so the house was typically 10¬? hotter at night than it is outside. In the winter this was OK because it cut down on heating costs (if it was a sunny day) but in the summer it’s borderline obnoxious and fixing it with proper fan placement is obviously the way to go.

In any event, I’m going to start wrapping things up for the night so I can get to bed. I need to be up around 10:30am so we can get out of here early tomorrow.

Flea Market Fun

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

Tomorrow we’re all heading up to Laurel because there’s some flea market and when I go to places like that I like to check out the jewelry, you can typically get some fairly decent deals on anything that you buy considering the vendors are either getting their items at cost or they gave up on having a yard sale and it’s just items that they’ve got sitting in their house that they’re looking to get rid of. Ebay is really considered to be the flea market of the internet, if you think about it. The one thing I always make a point of doing before going to a flea market or bidding on something online is the current gold price because it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into when buying gold based pieces.

I don’t think I’m going to be bringing any money up with me though. I’m sure that I’ll come across something but knowing my spending habits around funky looking things and the fact that my father’s birthday is coming up, I’m going to make it a point to not go crazy and just keep the money in the bank. That’s going to be hard for me but even just spending the day looking around a 15 acre lot, I’m pretty sure that I’ll be too tired to even bother with whipping out some cash.

Highly Addicting

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

I don’t consider myself a gamer by any means. Baby is a Halo addict and considering that Bungie liked him enough to choose him as one of their BETA testers for Halo 3, it’s had me itching to do something for a while now. Now that the rooms are rearranged I’ve been playing Hexic, which I have to say is an extremely addicting game.

I don’t quite know what I did but I managed to get him some kind of award for a million points and then now I”m working in the Marathon mode in order to get three black pearls in a cluster to officially beat the game. The problem with me is it’s hard to do that when all of the power-star things seem to float in the same area and I have no idea how to get them away from each other. In order to make a black pearl you need six power-stars, so I’d need to make 18 of them during the course of the game and when there are bombs dropping in telling me that I have X number of moves before my board blows up it just makes it difficult.

I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually. :hopes:

Winding Down

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

I’ve been rather productive today. I didn’t actually get around to my laundry but I did manage to get the finishing touches on my desk, so I’m fully unpacked (took long enough…right?). Baby and I did some shopping this afternoon to get things settled for the weekend. A lot of vacationers are down here now, summer has basically started early, so it’s hard to do ANYTHING on the weekends, Route 1 is beyond packed from here to Ocean City. We loaded up on ground beef and chicken so I assume we’ll be barbecuing the entire weekend.

I’m slowly getting through all of my email, I do still have some to go through. A few of them are work related but I’ve been unable to read them yet. So if you’re coming here with the “Oh she can update but can’t read her email” attitude, chill out I’ll get to you soon. I think the only thing I haven’t done today is check myself in for drug treatment, lol.

I think I’m gonna get myself in gear on the rest of my email though. There are a few domain notifications that have to go out that need to be taken care of ASAP.

Been kinda busy…

Friday, June 1st, 2007

My inbox has around 1,000 messages in it and this can only mean that I’ve been absent from the internet for a few days. For the past couple of weeks baby and I have been putting off changing the rooms around until after he got some money in to buy his mother a new computer for her birthday. On Wednesday he came into the living room after I’d woken up and asked me if I wanted to start changing things around. He said he’d ordered the computer and now he’s got enough time to take a break and we can get things in order. We were unaware of just how long this was going to take. You don’t realize how much crap is piled up in one little room until you start transferring everything over to another room.

On Tuesday I went to the Salvation Army with Kay because she likes floating around stores like that looking for new and interesting things. While I’m a big fan of getting a deal on things, I’m not a fan of ‘used’ items. For a while now I’ve been eying this desk that I saw in Staples, maybe it was Big Lots not sure I remember. I was putting some money aside knowing that I’m going to be buying it when the rooms were moved (I was setup on a folding table in the office because of the lack of space). While we were at the Salvation Army, however, I came across a LAN desk and my jaw dropped. I’d been looking into a desk like this for the last few years but it’s about $200 no matter where I’d gone. It was $55 at the store and it’s literally in excellent condition. There isn’t a dent or a ding on it. It’s fresh out of the box – NEW.

So when Baby said we were moving the rooms around I jumped at the fact that I had a desk in mind and we needed to go pick it up. We moved all of the crap out of the bedroom and transferred all of the office equipment over and after two days of moving things, hanging shelves and lifting heavy boxes and books – we’re finally done. My desktop is setup on a brand new desk, I bought myself a chair from Staples that’s actually pretty comfortable and the cool thing about this desk is the fact that Bella has more than enough room to hang out on it and she’s not even close to being in my way. It’s also large enough for future purchases. I’m going to be purchasing a second monitor because when I’m using Adobe, windows that I need to use regularly kind of get in the way. I’m also going to be buying my iMac in the near future as well.

Baby setup my monitor on his desktop because I noticed that certain fonts weren’t showing up that well for me. Considering I know that every other computer I’ve used with those fonts seems to work well – I wanted to assume it was the graphics card. Quick trial and error proved me right and now I’m going to have to dip into funds for a graphics card as well. I’m going to need about $2,000 for everything – shouldn’t be too hard to get considering I’ve got clients pending and about $500 in posts coming to me as well.

For now I have some work to do. I really should get my ass in gear on some laundry. I’m probably going to have some pictures of the new setup later on. It’s really the office setup I’ve always wanted, we just couldn’t accomplish it in the other room considering how small it is. The new bedroom (old office) works much better now. I finally have my own closet and the only thing in there at this point is the television, bella’s toys and our bed. It flows much nicer too.

Okay, now I’m really going to get my ass in gear. So there’s the update that two people emailed me about. I’m not one to apologize because I haven’t posted – I kind of find that pathetic – but it’s strange that people really do stop by 3+ times a day knowing that I update regularly. If I disappointed you, sorry but there’s a life off line that’s far more important.

Themes, Birthdays, Power Issues?

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

I’ve spent some time today working on my June theme. Everything template wise is completed, I just have to work in all of the content pages because with all of the alterations I’ve made to the template over the last few months, just to run a theme here it requires about 30 template pages. Yes, I know that’s crazy but oh well.

I’m still not feeling very well but I know for sure that it’s my own fault. Last night I had a little too much to drink (it was a holiday after all) and wound up crashing around 9, waking up around 12 to then fall back to sleep. I think I got about 15 hours in total since last night and while it’s great to catch up on sleep it’s really strange waking up so late in the afternoon and still being exhausted.

The power keeps dipping and I honestly have no idea why. Hopefully the power isn’t going to go out but there’s some wind outside and Baby told me that the power down here goes out pretty frequently. Something tells me that once our rooms are moved around we’re going to be working off battery backups on the surge protectors. He’s close to ordering Kay’s gift, once the money transfers out of Paypal at least. I’m sure it’s already in his bank account at the moment but I think he’s busy Beta testing at the moment so who knows what’s happening. He’s got until the 5th, at the latest, to order for her considering you have to factor in shipping and her birthday is on the 12th. :crosses fingers:

I also need to get some money together for her gift, I know exactly what she wants so it won’t be hard to shop for her. I know I’ve got some payments coming through so I’m not concerned. There’s also a few hundred in my account set aside for birthdays anyway.

Isn’t TODAY the holiday?

Monday, May 28th, 2007

It’s pretty warm outside at the moment. It’s pushing about 90°F and it’s fixing to be one of the hotter days of the year so far, at least by my standards. Considering it’s memorial day, I was kind of expecting there to be more activity going on in the complex. I think since yesterday was a gorgeous Sunday and people typically work on Monday’s that may have played a roll in it. Either way tonight I’d like to barbecue again so I think I’m going to have to sweet talk Baby a bit. Last night he wound up cooking all of the burgers and since he wanted to go out and get more Mai Tai mix anyway – I figure a run to the store wouldn’t be that bad of an idea anyway.
