The strange thing about being on a regular schedule is I’m not really used to all of the daily noises around me. The chirping birds are screwing with my concentration, the TV is blaring in the background with what I consider to be the stupidest show on television and Bella is even more insistent about being right under my legs than normal.

Princess doesn’t seem to be acting right, she’s limping a bit more than usual and is kind of hanging out under the dining room table instead of sleeping in her own bed. I’m sure she’s upset over the fact that she’s no longer allowed on the couch but I don’t think that has anything to do with her limping either.

It’s been a pretty fruitful day, I’m working on the $150 mark with paid-posting so that’s covered. A few clients paid me as well so it’s nice to see a few hundred sitting in Paypal at the moment. Thankfully it’s mine to spend because all other bills have already been budgeted out. I’m just going to shoot it into savings though, we really do need to buy a new bed sometime in the next month (at the absolute latest) my back has come close to going out on me completely and I’m sure sleeping on three inches of foam that’s directly on the floor isn’t helping me very much either.

Sean and I are currently looking around Remax and Centry21 for a house. I don’t know how it happened but we’ve kind of settled on Ohio. I’m not too keen on being that far away from New York but he assured me that I’d probably like it there. His brother lives in the North Lima area, so I think we’re looking around there. I found a huge 4 bedroom 4050sqft for like $55,000 which is also on 3 acres of land, something seems fishy about it but figure if I’m looking to get a loan in the $175,000 range – I’m sure we could knock down the old house and just build another one on the property.

We’ve been looking into manufactured homes and I found one that looks fairly traditional but I also know that there’s a solid company backing it. We’re looking into Palm Harbor, and I found a model named Katherine. It’s 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and about 2,368sqft. I know that’s a lot smaller than the house that’s on the property but you’re factoring in that only two people and a 15 pound dog are going to live there and I’d prefer to live in something where all of the pipes are new and in the future when adding an addition to the house, there’s the ability to cut into a wall without worrying about the entire foundation coming down on that side – you know? The house that’s on the property now is about 120 years old, you can’t really upgrade that style of a home without running into some problems. I figure knocking it down and starting fresh would be more than fair.

Dyslexia

Friday, August 10th, 2007

I’ve been side-tracked with work helping Kayla find some tutoring for her daughter Megan. She’s been having some trouble in English and figured before school started she’d get her enrolled in an online course, or even just a local tutoring service in general.

She’s a sweet kid, about 9 years old and has what we believe to be dyslexia. The problem is a lack of insurance is keeping Kayla away from getting her tested for it. It’s not that her daughter isn’t healthy, there is a clinic in-town that’s been more than gracious with helping her out but when you’re 27 with a 9 year old, it’s just hard to give them everything they’ve ever really needed. It’s just unfortunate that I can’t help her out with the tutoring at the moment, if I had the money to send over to her I would but lord knows what a specialist would charge for this kind of a test.

I did some reading though, Google is pretty easy to use for situations like these. It’s not hard to help someone with dyslexia and one of the big things to do is get them involved with a tutor that can help their needs. I don’t really think there’s any medication involved, it’s not really a physical disease it’s obviously brain based. When I first heard about what it was, I seriously thought that someone’s eyes were just backwards or something but that was me being a dumb 10 year-old at the time as well. Knowing that she really just needs a reading comprehension tutor in a structured environment, that her school doesn’t seem to have for her, would more than likely be a good thing.

Do you know anyone with dyslexia? Were you dyslexic? What route did you take?

Back on track.

Friday, August 10th, 2007

After crashing for much longer than I ever thought possible, I think I’m back on a fairly decent schedule. Last night I woke up about 2am after sleeping for around 14 hours or so, not sure why that happened. I figured I’d fight it and just go back to sleep and after about 5am I finally did knock out again and then woke up at 9am. Which hopefully means that by midnight I’ll be tired again and back on track.

I’m so sick of waking up at 6pm, it’s unreal. I wind up going to sleep when most people are leaving the house for work in the morning and that’s just to the point of being unhealthy. And there’s also no food in the house either, so by the time I shower and get ready to leave half the places down here are closed at 8pm – which I think is BS considering it’s a resort time and smack-dab in the middle of the summer season.

I have a shit load of work to do today though, that’s another reason why I’m happy to be up with the sun instead of down when it’s setting. I figure if I can get my ass in gear and get my concentration back to where it used to be I can knock out 3 accounts today, lets just hope that actually works out that way – heh.

The Local’s Suck!

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Sean and I went up to Midway last night. We’ve been itching to get to a casino ever since we left Atlantic City back in April. We probably should have just taken the free rooms available up in Harrah’s and completely avoided this place. I don’t know what it is about local casinos but they all seem to really suck. I know that Alantic City has a decent pay out considering how much money I’ve made there. I refuse to go to ones on Indian reservations because you never win anything there, I don’t care who you are – the pay out in a place like Mohegan Sun up in Connecticut is not going to be anywhere near what a typical payout is in Atlantic City. On average you hear machines going off with $3,000+ coming your way, this is the place to be.

With how messed up our schedule is at the moment, we didn’t leave the house until about 2am but note that we’d been up for about 8 hours at that point. After a 45 minute drive we arrived to find a really empty parking lot and what looked to be a little shack in the middle of no where. It’s only really lit up on the one side so you don’t see much going on behind it. It was no where near as large as the casinos I’m used to going to. The commercials tell me that you win more frequently and to a point this is true, I managed to make $20 last for a very long time. I just don’t consider breaking even to be a reasonable pay out – you know?

I’ve been rummaging around the house trying to locate my total rewards card so I can log into my Harrah’s account and find out what I have available. I think we’re going to take a trip up there after his birthday and sometime before mine so that we can have some kind of a vacation. I know he has four days free, I’m sure I have the same. A week with a free room? I’ll take it.

So long, bitch be gone!

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

As of 10:08am, the wretched bitch is officially gone. It’s been three days of dealing with her attitude, her bull shit looks and the smoking INSIDE of the house (something she was requested not to do). She pushed my dog off the couch and almost head-first into a broken glass coffee table, missed the jagged edge by about 2 inches. She leaves her shit laying around the house just about everywhere and even if she’s not included in the conversation, or if I haven’t even acknowledged that she was even in the freaking room, she’ll jump in anyway.

Monday night they came back from O.C., both were obviously intoxicated. I said something to K and then the bitch jumped right in with her two cents about how K doesn’t have to answer to me. All I did was say “You’re drunk, aren’t you?” she shoots back with her bull shit remark – something she wasn’t asked of because again there’s that wall separating us now – she’s been locked out of Krissyville and trust me when I say if she wasn’t across the room she would have been on her ass with a broken face. I don’t like when someone can get me to the point of being violent, even though I have spent quite a bit of time having to ‘reform’ thanks to quite a few knockouts in my day.

This fucking cunt bag just got under my skin this weekend. I was nothing but polite to her, she insisted on having an attitude in return, something that’s common for her because she’s the kind of person that will get pissed off because she’s unable to be pissed off. Yes, go think about that one for a second. They’re downtown, I guess someone bumped into her or something and he graciously apologized – it’s what they do in Delaware! She then got pissed off over the fact that because of his apology she couldn’t be pissed off at him. Little stupid things like someone accidentally bumping into your arm can fuck her entire day up. Meanwhile, K swears that Sean (and probably me) are depressed because what you would consider midnight, we consider it noon. Yes, we’ll sleep from say 11am to 6pm, that’s not depression – that’s putting in over 16 hours of WORK overnight.

This cunt sleeps on the couch all damn day. I went to sleep at 11, after a very long couple of days of working on things. I woke up at 6 and she was in the exact same spot on the couch. If it weren’t for the fact that she’d gone out and got herself a shit load of junk food (also laying all over the damn house) she probably wouldn’t have left that spot at all. Who goes on ‘vacation’ and freaking sleeps on someone ELSE’s couch for 3 days? She had a bed at her disposal, one she slept in. But she decided to just camp out in the living room instead. So now when my dog is trying to get to her usual window seat, she gets shoved into a coffee table because it’s an inconvenience to her? I’d love to see what kind of conditions her fucking cats are living in.

Based on what I’ve heard she never opens a window and has thick drapes covering everything. Oh yea, she’s not depressed at freaking all! She finds the “down” with everything. You could walk in saying “I won a million dollars” and she’d fucking give you 10 reasons why things are wrong with the world and add it to how “that never happens to me”. Dipshit! Read the fucking secret will you? You’re constantly shitting on everyone else, maybe it’s called fucking karma and you aren’t deserving of anything but a kick in the face or a chuck in that nifty 800¬? oven – ever think of that?

I’m too heated at the moment to even continue. I’m close to just throwing the monitor across the room so I can hit something. ugh.

Monday Madness – Week #4

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Time for another edition of Monday Madness. It’s a little late in the day, I know – but I didn’t get around to checking my meme-based inbox to get the notification. Note: Otto, your emails are coming through just fine for me, not sure if it’s the same for anyone else though.

1. What ONE thing would you like to accomplish before the end of the day? Getting dinner in the oven.

2. What one goal would you like to attain before the end of the month? Exceeding the number I have set for myself in regards to income, sofar – so good.

3. Are you a “to-do list” writer? If so, do you stick to your list and cross things off as you complete them? Yes, and I do. Nothing wrong with keeping on track. It’s hard to do with the Wii sitting behind me though. It’s still got that “new” feel three days later and I just can’t stop!

4. In general, how organized do you feel you are? Typically I’m very organized, to the point of being anal retentive because I will refold clothes if something happened to fall off the shelf. I will admit that for the last few days I’ve been slacking but that’s based on the situation with the unwanted houseguest as well.

5. How many piles of papers/junk mail/etc. do you have laying around your house? None of it’s mine, but it’s all over the place!

6. Which ONE surface in your home do you have trouble keeping clean? Anything involving the kitchen, again that’s also a situation thing. I do have trouble in the bathroom too, Sean hasn’t quite grasped the concept of cleaning his hair out of the sink when she shaves his face and furthermore, you can only handle dealing with so many toothpaste spots before you want to rip someone’s little face off.

Still in pain, Still needing a better bed…

Monday, August 6th, 2007

I’m still in quite a bit of pain from playing the Wii for as long as I did last night. My shoulder is starting to unlock but my back is completely out of whack, part of me thinks the horrible sleeping conditions play a big role in it.

Sean and I, for the last few months now, have told eachother time and time again that we have to put enough money aside to purchase a new bed ASAP. Unfortunately neither one of us has followed up on this because of easily distracted we are when shiny technology makes it’s way in front of our eyes. I’m sure if we didn’t buy the Wii and I didn’t make a few purchases here and there for the DS then we’d have more than enough to at least upgrade the bed, let alone buy a complete set. When I say upgrade, I mean purchase two box springs so we’re at least off the floor with the mattresses. At the same time, however, the one’s we’re on aren’t really meant for long-term use. They came with a pull out bed but it’s two twin mattresses and combined it’s the king that we needed in order to be comfortable at night.

No, it’s not a fat thing either. It’s the fact that both of us spread out while we’re asleep and throw in a dog who likes to spread out just as much as we do, naturally there were going to be some problems with the full-size bed we were recently sleeping on. My back did improve for a while but now it’s just back to it’s horrible ‘ol self again.

We were in Sears a few weeks ago and I almost pulled out the Amex on a $1600 Seely Pillow top Posturepedic that was 50% off. The second both of us even sat down on this bed, our backs felt so much better. Sean is easy to please, he just wants something that doesn’t bother his back. And while I completely adore sleeping on a softer mattress, my back personally prefers a firm one. I think just having one that isn’t 3 inches thick (like we’re on now) would be an instant improvement either way, honestly.

Downtime

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Server “World” which houses approximately 200 clients at the moment is currently down. Any account with the DNS information pointing to acidgloss.net are experiencing downtime. This should be taken care of within the next hour. It’s also 1:30 in the morning so I don’t expect many people to even be awake at this point. If you are, my sincerest apologies – everything should be back up and running soon.

Edit: 2am – Everything seems to be up and running again. Please let me know if anyone is still experiencing any downtime.

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Okay, so the Wii showed up yesterday – a few days earlier than originally anticipated. After it was booted up and proved to be working properly we then started playing the mini WiiSports games that came with it. Five hours of bowling, baseball and boxing later – we decided to head over to EBGames and pick up the WiiPlay game pack. It comes with like 10 mini-games for $50 but there was also an extra controller in the box as well. The Wii only comes with one standard controller by default.

On our way home we stopped off at Blockbuster because Sean had a Free Game Rental that he’d printed out before we left. And something I kept seeing all over EGM was Rayman Raving Rabbids and knowing full well that anyone else I’ve spoken to knew nothing about it, even though they seem to be DS game collectors, I picked it up instead of MarioKart 8. Knowing that he’s got another one coming in on Monday, we can always pick up MarioKart later.

Rayman is a series of mini-games that all have to be unlocked as you go along, which is typically like any Nintendo based game when you think about it. Then again, I’m basing this on Brain Age, Super Mario Brothers and Sonic Rush. But even the mini-games that came with WiiPlay had to be unlocked as well.¬† You start off with like four or five of the games, a few of which confused the hell out of us until we read further into them. Ammo for the entire game isn’t a gun, it’s plungers. And based on the amount of plungers one goes through in a single game, you wonder if this were real life, how many Home Depots would have to be called in to sponsor? heh.

The first one you land on is dance related. Knowing full well that my back was starting to crap out on me thanks to 9 straight rounds of boxing earlier, I decided to sit this one out. The key of the game is as the rabbits touch the little bases you have to shoot them off with either the Wiimote or the Nunchuk. You’re basically dancing along to the music and after a little while it just got boring so we left that stage and wound up in one named “How far can Bessie fly” or something like that. There’s a cow on a leash that you have to fling around and then throw her as far as you possibly can. You’re supposed to hit like 60 but Sean tried his hardest and couldn’t even get out of the ring. I managed to do it (fucking up my rotater cup in the process) but she flew about 200 something. I guess this would be great information to know about myself if I ever actually wanted to chuck a cow 200 yards?

The game itself is a little strange and quite morbid to some degree but at least you aren’t shooting guns, you’re just shooting off plungers. To me it kind of seems like those NERF suction arrows that kids still play with. Unless you have the stamina to go crazy with a tiny little controller, I’m not sure I’d recommend the game. There are sections of the game that are completely stupid and worth the laugh and play time. It’s just hard when you’re so used to single controllers to get around to using two of them.

I love my DS, for the most part it reminds me of my original Nintendo controller way back in the day. I like simple controllers which is why I have so much trouble with the XBox360 controllers. Sean tried to teach me how to play Halo, there’s too many extra buttons that you have to control just to fire at someone so that’s truly just a waste for me in the long run.

Either way I enjoyed myself and knowing I don’t have any work to get done today I figure I’ll wait until my back unlocks and then maybe play some duck hunt or something for a while. I’m in a lot of pain today because of all the moving around yesterday. It’s not that I’m not used to the activity so take that theory and shove it up your ass. It’s the fact that I’m not typically twisting my arms around as fast as humanly possible just to throw a cow and I sure as hell don’t bowl for 6 hours at a time either. Hopefully my arms will get used to it though.

I just signed up for a Nintendo.com account so I can get my games and consoles registered. Supposedly when you register a game it unlocks something but I think that would only work out on the Wii, so I’m going to punch my numbers in and see what happens.

Off to get something to eat, I’ve been hungry since I went to bed but figured I’d just eat after I woke up.

Oh Crap…The bitch is back!

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Yes, you read it correctly. The mutually disliked house-guest has returned. I’m unsure as to what time she actually showed up, I was knocked out until like 1, but that happens when you crash at 830. The house thankfully doesn’t smell like smoke but my ashtray outside was filling up. So that means she was either here for 2 hours or 10 minutes at the rate that she inhales a cig.

I’ll be keeping myself busy today in the office. I have some things to take care of with advertisers and a few templates to knock out. I might even get around to returning some comments – I’m fully aware of the fact that I was slacking for about two months on that one. My background noise at the moment is on channel 10, something about Comicon. Sean was watching everything when it was on, it’s just strange that I walked past it when I was on my way into the house. At the moment they’re talking to Stan Lee, they just asked him who his favorite superhero is; he claims he doesn’t have one, he loves them all.

They were talking about the first season of “Who wants to be a SuperHero”, this is a show I didn’t even bother watching but based on what I just saw at comicon, the winner was a character named FeedBack, I have to wonder what his superpower is exactly. I highly doubt being able to hold a conversation has anything to do with it, considering listening to him speak for 10 seconds just seemed like he was rambling on in excess.

He’s on the Wiki, there was too much BS that needed to be blockquoted and since I’m not a fan of comic books, I’ll just link you directly to his article.

In any event, time to get to work.

There’s NOTHING on!

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

There’s literally nothing on TV at the moment, not like that’s much of a change from any other night. I do have a lot of work to do but I’m having trouble concentrating because of the fact that I have no background noise at the moment.

I’m waiting on Sean to get back here. He left about a half hour ago to pick up dinner but I want to assume that the traffic downtown is horrible considering the 90+ temperatures we were dealing with today. The beaches must have been packed solid. He’s going to walk in bitching about all of the Benny’s and then eventually calm down, it’s a typical thing. I don’t like sending him out in traffic like this but it’s also summer in a tourist town, that’s bound to happen.

I guess I should get myself back to work. I don’t know how I’m going to manage accomplishing three templates by midnight considering it’s only 4 hours away but maybe I’ll get lucky enough and have a jolt of energy. Who knows.

Massive resources on even the cheapest plans.
